As for the explination for his blindness..Daredevil anyone? But otherwise, it's an amazing story. And although you may not know it, your explination for his blindness is completely plausible. Even for someone without ninja tricks. Though the ninja tricks help. Targeting and all. A blind ninja is definitly a dangerous asset. Bets that he catches the sound folks before Sakura even knows they've found them?
