I'm sad there wasn't more tenderness, but the emotions written matched Orochimaru and Kabuto perfectly. You're right - evil people do have emotions. Pity and mercy count, and Itachi had that for Sasuke, but that's a different story *kukukukuku*

I'm just glad I'm not the only one that loves this couple XD A serious take on Orochimaru's sadisim and apparent feelings he tries to hide for certain little minions is a hard find. The way he snaps at Kabuto in warning when the medic sounds like he's trying to comfort him, the way he spoke to heartbrokenly of Kimi when the poor boy left, then brushed it off. Ah, he just lies to himself! And Kabuto HAS to love him, no matter what haphazard use he's put to by the snake sannin, he loves the bastard XD (Maybe he's got a little masochist hidden in there? Or, when it's the only 'affection' you've ever recieved, what else could there be to love?)
