That was a great chapter. I was only able to read it just last night but was unable to comment due to fear of my father finding me at 2 o'clock in the morning on the computer and deciding to destroy my poor babe (The computer ^^). Naruto and Sasuke are bonding nicely. Couldn't stop laughing at everyone's obvious suspicion of the two. I like Neji. But I still don't know if he's supposed to be Sasuke's friend or if he's even NOW considered to be Naruto's. Cause, Sasuke wouldn't be letting his foes in. Speaking of foes, what the heck is up with Gaara? It's quite rare finding a story where him and Naruto are not friends, so I'm most curious as to see what happens later between the two. Afterall, he does have that special bonding he's so natural at producing when making friends. So. . . .. do you plan to make him and Gaara get along later? Or are they just straightout enemies? And another thing. I don't know if you mentioned this. . .. but, does Gaara go to the same school as them? or is he just a street rat? Can't wait till Hinata is mentioned *jumps from excitement* .....Well, I'm just assuming she'll be in there. It'll add more drama. (sorry. This is one of those times that my fingers just start typing and have no attention of stopping till its had its say ^^*) Just think about it. she could summon the guts to talk to Naruto-/kun/ and they could hang out. She'd offer to help him with his work and Sasuke begins to get flustered b/c he believes it's his job. Naruto begins to hang out with her more and believes that he's just giving Sasuke a break from dealing with him. Neji will rub it in Sasuke's face . . . . telling him that he wasn't tutoring Naruto well enough. blah blah blah. OR, there could be this totally different scenario wherer Neji likes Naruto. *smiles evily* I mean, that could so work with your story. He'd offer to tutor Naruto and he accepts b/c he feels and fears that he might be annoying Sasuke (which he's not). At first, you could make it so that Neji was just trying to make Sasuke jealous, but then he begins to actually LIKE Naruto. Gomen, I'm going soooooo off course here. I can't help but to add a few pointers along with my comment. It just makes me feel that I've thoroughly read your story and these are just the few things that run in my brain while reading. . . .. errrr, I mean .. fingers? It doesn't matter much anyway. Just continue with your great work and try not to make everything bluntly obvious (Not that you've been doing so ^^)

The subtle use of Garra as a plot device will be interesting, and I am amused by Shikamaru. Even in the AU of your story, I love how you're keeping him in character.
