wow.... *sputer sputter* just... wow... i have never ever looked at this pairing before and normally i go for short lived stories with few chapters... but this....this is heavenly prose!!!!!!

That was very interesting. I always wonder (anime speaking wise of course) what Itachi thinks about Naruto so fics like ths one always manage to catch my interest. I can't wait to see how this evolves between them. Good job. Update soon!

Itachi coming back to Konoha would be better than Naruto joining Akatsuki ^^

As to where it is going, Ataksuki!Naruto is really tricky given Naruto's convictions, but when done right I like da Evil!Naruto! Something about a badass Naruto just gives me shivers! :D A cleared Itachi is always interesting, but only because I like laughing at Sasuke every once in a while for being a stubborn little shit :D Nothing like having your life goal whipped out from underneath you :D As for the Evil!Naruto, being in the past is an opportunity to remove (through making unintentional changes) the things that made Naruto who he is (ie Iruka, etc). If you go on the linear theory, changes made in the past should start effecting the older Naruto (different memories replacing others whether experienced through nightmares/dreams) and twisting him in the direction you want him to go.
As for clearing Itachi, if Naruto finds out that he isn't responsible for his clan's death, Naruto could always hide the evidence for later retrieval or make sure it turns up at the Hokage's door. The angst in hiding the evidence so he can find it later would manifest itself in the revelation that perhaps had he not hidden it and turned it over to the past authorities, Sasuke might not have gone on the path that he had... :D
Anyway, looking forward to what you have planned!!

This scenario has so much potential, I can't wait to see where you choose to take it. You have me hooked already.

It's a tough decision, but I vote Akatsuki!Naruto because I hate it when authors absolve the psychos they're writing about. Akatsuki don't have to be nice, and Naruto probably needs to be a little out there, but still, introducing Naruto to Akatsuki seems smoother than bringing Itachi back to Konoha - without use of a body-bag.
So far, Itachi and Naruto are both well written and the picture you're painting is vivid.
