Oddly enough, the way you wrote the stranger reminded me of the character Ichimaru Gin from Bleach.

I don't get it anymore? First I thought it was AU, it being in the real world and all, and then suddenly Naruto is the Kyuubi vessel and Sasuke has the sharingan and still has ninja skills or whatever. I'm confused.

Erm... I have no wish to upset you, but I have a serious nitpick I feel the need to share.

What you described in the second chapter is NOT how accredited degree programs work, at least not in the US/Japan (I haven't looked into other areas, but I'm fairly certain medical staff aren't hired immediately after they finish their coursework anywhere.) Wikipedia notes that "psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in psychiatry and are certified in treating mental illness using the biomedical approach to mental disorders. Psychiatrists may also go through significant training to conduct psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and/or cognitive behavioral therapy, but it is their medical training, access to medical laboratories, and ability to prescribe medication that differentiates them from other mental health professionals." Which, if I understand correctly, would necessarily imply that Naruto is a physician and has attended med school to get his MD or DO. Though you never specified what degree Naruto was writing his dissertation for (though "dissertation" implies PhD, at least in my experience), I can't imagine being hired without postdoctoral work (in the case of phd) or internships and rotations (in the case of med school).

I realize that this is a work of fiction, and that as such you can make water taste salty or fish fly in the air if you so wish, but this lackadaisical treatment of the medical system really broke the story for me. Successful fiction is about suspending your sense of disbelief and losing yourself in the narrative, but this really ruined it for me (perhaps because I'm still in school myself). I think this story would be greatly improved if you would devote a little more effort towards research. Given all of the enthusiastic reviews you've received so far, I won't be surprised if you simply shrug off my concern, and at the end of the day it is YOUR piece of fanfiction, not mine. But I would like to humbly suggest that in the future you take the time to google things like this. (It might also help define the setting, as different countries have slightly different training regimens for medical professionals. I'm not certain where this story is taking place.)

Thank you for your attention to these concerns,

I am fond of the phrase 'User Interface Error' and I also like ID 10 T (idiot) errors. Then there is the classic standby... PEBKAC: Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair.

Hiya,

As a psychology student I thought I'd point out something that the general public often has misconceptions about.
The difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specialized in treating mental disorders. They tend to focus more on medication as a way to solve their patient's problems. There are several different types of psychologists, based on the scenario, I'd say that your characters are counseling psychologists. They tend to treat less severe mental issues than the clincial psychologist (who typically work in an institutional setting).

The second thing is, that while this is fictional, and not the first time I've seen this scenario, it is very much taboo for a psychologist, psychiatrist, or any kind of student or intern to become romantically or sexually or even overly personally involved with a patient of any kind, even one you've treated in the past.
