I loved that nightmare scene with the fight between Itachi and Naruto. I could just see it- really exciting. I wonder why Itachi was so real and strong? Maybe because Sasuke thinks of him so much??
Well, perhaps if Naruto meets Sasuke again when he's awake we'll know better. :D

There is an anime series, can't remember the name right now, but it revolves around dreamcatchers. What they do is almost exactly what you wrote. I don't know if the artist and the anime people took knowledge from general folklore or whatnot, but I think the ideas are out there enough for you to feel ok about using the idea. I like how you wrote it and from what I seen of that anime could easily picture it. Good luck.
