Well, obviously, I'm a fangirl of yaoi_is_my_antidrug, and I'm not familiar with frackin_sweet, but I'm more than ready to become familiar with her work after reading this. In just a word, this one shot is absolutely incredible. The attention to detail really just took my mind and put it there in the room with them, causing me to actually blush which never happens. (Just ask hanyou-elf.)The level of anger, rage, and jealousy just swept my emotions with it, and by the time that the actual sex hit the screen, I was panting.
Kakashi's eye is narrow and nearly unreadable in the gloom, but Genma can still see-- the jealousy, the hunger, the rage, barely contained. He's suddenly very aware of his bare chest and stomach, and breathes in so Kakashi can see the movement of muscles under skin before he turns his back to the man.
Just to get the reaction.
Bravo. Fucking bravo. This is how I see Genma and Kakashi. They know that they aren't together. They know they aren't in a relationship, but nonetheless, they seek each other out, cling to each other, need each other, breathe each other. They care for each other so deeply, and yet, the fact that they are killers changes their reactions from what one would expect to what Kakashi and Genma truly are. Killers. ANBU. Assassins.
"...but I want you. And I'm going to have you," Kakashi rasps, his voice laced with arrogance, and Genma has time to wonder just how bad his last mission was, if it was the one that finally pushed Kakashi too far.
I wonder if Genma lives in fear of that moment. That very moment when Kakashi finally snaps and kills someone he loves because he can no longer tell the difference between friend and enemy. I'll bet that it would really kill Genma in the future to see that Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura provide the outlet and the bandaid to Kakashi poor, wounded mind. Team 7 saves Kakashi from that moment just as much as he saves them so many times. When Itachi dropped Kakashi like a fly with his Sharingan, it was Team 7 that Kakashi woke up to. The reason that he chose to get over being a disappointment to Tsunade was because Naruto urged him to press on. I believe that reason alone kills Genma with jealousy... more than any other man in Kakashi's bed would.
Kakashi growls low in his throat as he turns and flips Genma around with a violent twist of his arm, yanking it up behind his back. “I still haven’t decided,” he grates. “Whether you’re worth it or not.”
The insult feels more personal, more cutting than it should after all they’ve been through, and it re-ignites a stubborn spark of anger in Genma. Unthinking, he gives in to it and slams his head back as hard as he can, into Kakashi’s face.
Unthinking... That's the word that really got to me in this part. What if someone told you they don't know if you're worth anything to them? Just the idea of not knowing is more painful than knowing. Poor Genma. Unthinking, he hurts. Unthinking, he retaliates for his pain. Unthinking, he loves Kakashi. What an amazing idea. I think I'm inspired to write another one-shot. XD
Genma senses the gradual change in Kakashi, that aggressive killer bleeding out with the last of his semen to be replaced with someone a little more familiar; now that that's over with, they're just them again, sated and sore and a bit more beat up than usual.
This sums up the entire story right here. Genma wants to take Kakashi's pain away. He wants to prevent that one moment from happening when Kakashi loses it, and for a while, he succeeds, but there will always be another mission, and another mission just increases the chances that one day, Kakashi will come home so cold and so dangerous that Genma won't recognize who he is.
You guys, I'm simply breathless and amazed. Without a doubt, this is the best one shot I've ever read. Hats off to you. Indeed.
