So far I'm enjoying the story, it has a wonderful plot and an interesting idea.
But I'm not sure if you're trying for a modern era of Japan, or if it's a different Interpretation specifically for the fic, The fic mentioned this "Being gay was still very much a taboo in Japan, though the struggle to appear more westernized in order to better their foreign relations with other countries meant that it was now exposed to the rising acceptance rate of gay relationships, even gay marriage."
While Gay marriage is not a part of Japanese Customs, Homosexuality is not considered Taboo in Either Modern or Ancient Japan, Often being seen as Pure love, the only time it was made illegal was during 1873, around the first entrance of western society and the restriction only lasted 7 years.
either way it doesn't detract from the story at all and I'm glad to read such a well written fiction.

hmm. I always have a problem when I want to leave you a (well deserved!) review, because by the time the final version is done, we already discussed it.
Let's see.
I like your take on Kurenai. Not only the characterization, but also how you described her office as unpleasant. People often tend to make everything the mention in their fics perfect, as if that would help making the story itself perfect. Also, Kakshi grasping Iruka's wrist to stop him from going too far was very sweet, but in that realistic way you can always pull of very well.
And the ending of the chapter was just perfect. It made me grin goofily. :P

Very cool beginning. I really like this story so far. What was Sasuke doing on that train (I assume he's around Naruto's age in your fic?) When will Sasuke make a reappearance?
