Gooooood, this chapter was made of WIN.
Naruto/Gaara interaction always, always cracks me up and you did blindingly well! I'm at the edge of my seat for the next chappy and hopefully to find out what Gaara's mission is, too.

LOL! Naruto did a great job insinuating himself into Sasuke's social circle. Of course, he wouldn't have been able to do so without Gaara's help, but once he managed to get that in, he did a great job winning Sasuke over by talking about their brothers and making plans for a party that Neji and Sasuke would be invited to. Smooth. :) I'm sure you'll get comments begging for a Neji/Gaara hookup, but I was relieved there seems to be no hidden flirtation between them. (For a crack pairing, they seem to show up a lot in Naruto fics, and besides, it's good to read about friendships too!) I like the fact that Sasuke is starting to look underneath the surface with Naruto and recognizes that he's pretty smart, and also that he's not genuinely as happy as he seems. This Sasuke and Naruto are more compatible for one another than they might think they are.
About the question you asked in the "Meet the Uchiha's" chapter, my inclination is that they should officially hookup AFTER the events in the prologue. It adds an extra layer of desperation to the torture (I assume that was what was happening) if they have unresolved feelings for one another. (You know, worrying about your friend's safety, worrying about the fact you both could die without him knowing the extent of your feelings, and worrying over the future the two of you might not ever get the opportunity to have.) Of course, you could also have them hookup beforehand, and have the hookup be the cause of Naruto's guard dropping enough for them both to be captured. That would be the cause of a bunch of unresolved issues (at least on Naruto's part) since he would be blaming himself the whole time for them getting into that predicament. So for what it's worth, those are my two cents.

Christ, now i'm interested!! What mission does Gaara have for the sand? and Kiba and Shika?! Sweet! Sure that sasuke's interested is peaked! So glad you updated this and can't wait for the next one. I feel like there's going to be so much with itachi's and kyuubi's pending relationship..

Love the new chapter!! I really like an attentive and protective Itachi, and Gaara's evil silence is brilliant!
I also really like the way, despite Naruto be gorgeous, Sasuke has issues with his personality, I've read to many fanfictions were that hasn't been a immediate factor and it really should be, Sasuke isn't the type to just 'pretend' to not like Naruto's personality because his attractive, in canon he really doesn't like it at all. Great job, I'm so excited for the next one!
