Oh cool, the staircase makes a reappearance! There's a story in there (in every meaning of the word) and I look forward to finding out more! (Just where does Sasuke himself fit on that bannister...?)

So as a newborn, Naruto is super-strong, hmmm...? (Well, he did rip someone's head off...) I thought it was funny how Sasuke stiffened when Naruto brought up his strength. As a newborn, Naruto is probably too unstable for Sasuke to be able to trust Naruto wouldn't randomly go off the deep end. (I hope Naruto does manage to get a few good licks in against Itachi!)

After hearing about how much Iruka really changed Naruto's life and how much Naruto's death will devastate him, poor, poor Naruto has to make that call. :( Just what would you say to a person knowing its the last time you could ever speak to him or her? :( I'd probably feel just as devastated as Naruto did. Thanks for not going overboard with Naruto's reaction to the phone call. I think you did a good job with Naruto's back story and his shifting emotions throughout the chapter that paragraphs of hysterics would have ruined the effect you'd already achieved.

I was surprised like Naruto at how normal Mikoto is, but it was a good surprise. Besides Sasuke and Gaara, it seems like Naruto just might have made another new vampire friend. :)

gah, Madara is fekking creepy. I'm glad Naru and Mikoto have each other. naru is a very pda kinda guy and he needs someone to take it out on. Poor Iruka, please let him be okay. He doesn't deserve more bad happening.
So, what makes a vampi a day walker... or is it a genetics thing?

ok.
let me tell you that i absolutely adore this story.
and i cant wait for more.
but...
on a side note. in like chapter 3 or 4. at the end when they bump
into Iruka, Naruo doesnt introduce Sasuke but he
asked why Naruto didnt call him on his cell phone.
i think you should put a sentence in there having Naruto introduce
Sasuke to Iruka.
if you want to. i just think you should tho. cause i was like...wait how did he know
his name if he was not introduced?
if its there and i missed it forgive me.
and you should definitely have chapter about how Gaara became a Vampire!
and make it steamy.
please!
update soon.
i cant wait to see what happens next!

This chapter made me think about what happens after a funeral, how planning for the funeral, making the arrangements, etc. helps keep your mind off of things, but after it's all over, that's when the finality of loss really hits you. I thought it was very appropriate for Naruto to make it through the hearing and then afterward, for the reality of how much his life has changed, and is going to continue changing, to suddenly hit him. :( It's very understandable how confused Naruto would be right now. Wondering about the nature of his existence and what the future will bring are questions he SHOULD be asking himself. With Naruto's never-say-die attitude and Sasuke's guidance, I know Naruto will eventually come to terms with his existence, but I'm very glad you had him wonder about it.

The punishments that Naruto & Sasuke will receive if Naruto slips up again are severe. Thanks to that, they really are in this together from now on, no matter what since it will cost Naruto his life (and may as well cost Sasuke his) if there are any more mistakes. :( I like how they are slowly growing together throughout this whole process. Naruto's sadness over the loss of his friends and his willingness to take responsibility over his mistakes shows that he's a good person, goofy personality aside, and Sasuke recognizes this. And Sasuke is proving himself to be someone Naruto can trust and count on.

(Incidentally, I quite liked the descriptions of the Uchiha house and the carved staircase--very mysterious...) Looking forward to the next chapter. :D

Glad you didn't mind. :)

I liked the new chapter. I felt bad for Naruto when he woke up and realized that he'd done something bad. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, as they say. Even if he felt awkward doing it, it was good Sasuke tried to comfort him, and it was also very good that Sasuke realized his mistake in what happened with Naruto. As the guy who ought to have been watching out for him, Sasuke dropped the ball. It's not entirely his fault since Itachi distracted him, but Sasuke is definitely somewhat to blame. I like that this Sasuke is mature enough to admit that.

I felt bad when Naruto saw Iruka. It's slowly becoming clearer to Naruto that he'll have to leave his old life behind. It's also slowly becoming clearer that leaving his old life behind isn't going to be as easy as he thought. But one problem at a time. For now, let's see what the vampire elders have to say about Naruto's little slip up...

(My one tiny nitpick about the chapter is that I was confused when Iruka walked in because the narration didn't say that Naruto had gone home. I thought Naruto wasn't allowed to go home and they were still at Sasuke's place until Iruka walked in.)

Good chapter. Looking forward to the next one. :)
