Huh. So Naruto's wanted Sasuke for almost as long as Sasuke's wanted Naruto. I feel bad for them both that Naruto was forced to watch the entirety of Sasuke's first time.
I like the psychological aspect of this fic how Naruto and Sasuke are both struggling against personal issues and hurting each other in the process. And I find it interesting that as much of a jerk as Sasuke is, he's still trying to do right by Naruto and has been refusing him for all these years largely to protect his own feelings, but also because Naruto is so much younger and his brother. If it was just all about Sasuke, he's have seduced Naruto long ago and gotten it out of his system. (There isn't any worse way to hurt Naruto that using him and throwing him away.) Instead he's been distancing himself. Sasuke is totally right that they shouldn't go any further than they already have. If they're so worried about Sasuke losing custody of Naruto, well, getting caught in a bar fight is one thing, but getting caught in an affair is on a whole other level of trouble. But I don't think at this point Naruto is capable of listening to reason, not when he's been so hormonal and out of control lately, and not when he's finally gotten Sasuke after years of chasing him.
The only thing I'm not sold on is the stuff with the mysterious man. It's just too improbable. Why would someone go to such lengths just to have Naruto for himself? Killing the Uchihas with a car bomb? Making threatening phone calls to kill more people Naruto cares about? Naruto is old enough and smart enough to know to go to the police, no matter what kind of threats the other person makes. If the mysterious man were just a figment of Naruto's trauma/guilt complex over the deaths of his parents and not real, that would be OK, but an actual person doing all of this without anyone suspecting a thing is too much for me to believe. I'd prefer the fic sticks with its more realistic, psychological aspects instead of wandering too far into movie of the week territory with a weird psycho killer.

Oh i really love the first two chaptors. You really did great on the characters I think. they don´t seem too ooc even if they kind of are. you get what I mean? Well whatever this is the first review I write on this page. Do you know how I´ll know when a new chaptor is up`? Hope you´ll help me. Okay whatever I am so excited to know how the Uchiha parents died in your story. And what Naruto intends to do and so on. I really like your way of writing and discribing things. You didn´t bore me at all and that´s a good sign. Hope you keep going.

One more thing: If Sasuke WAS that important and irreplaceable a person in Naruto's life, why did the boy let go of him *so easily*? He called him only on Christmas. No surprise visits or random calls when he felt like that.. no questions. Nothing. I dare say, Naruto felt comfortable and loved ENOUGH to do without Sasuke in his life. His life was wonderful till the accident, the life sasuke wasn't a part of any more. And when he lost his perfect life, sasuke was the first to blame. How convenient.
So all this "hatred" is purely based on his attempt to justify his own weakness, unhappiness etc etc. Itachi lost parents, too. But he managed to overcome it without going to extremes, right?

Apologies, meant to drop you a line on this sooner! Just wanted to say, I think you did a great job in the second chapter showing all the "gray areas" of all the characters. I definitely feel like there's more of an evenhanded depiction of Sasuke and Naruto.
Naruto came across as both likeable, but also unsympathetic in the chapter, which I liked. On the one hand, I definitely understand why Naruto would feel so much anger toward Sasuke; Sasuke was, after all, Naruto's most important person, yet Sasuke totally rejected him for reasons Naruto never really understood. Why shouldn't Naruto feel hurt and angry over this? On the other hand, Naruto seems to have scapegoated all his emotional problems and his guilt for whatever mysterious thing happened when the Uchihas died onto Sasuke. I certainly can't agree with his thinking there. Naruto's decision to take drugs and his refusal to ask for help from Itachi were all decisions he made which Sasuke couldn't possibly have had anything to do with.
On the flip side, for me, Sasuke is the opposite: he's unlikeable, but I feel like I can understand his position better than Naruto's. Whereas Naruto has scapegoated his own issues onto Sasuke, Sasuke has scapegoated his problems with his parents onto Naruto. And yet, I find Sasuke's thinking understandable. When Sasuke felt so much pressure on himself from such a young age, there's no way that it wouldn't have bothered him to witness the unequal treatment he received from his parents in comparison to Naruto. Naruto got treated by the Uchihas the way that Sasuke wanted to be treated. Under those circumstances, there's no way Sasuke wouldn't have felt jealousy, resentment, and even anger. While I can perfectly understand Sasuke's decision to walk away from his family when mentally and emotionally it had become a toxic environment, I think he went too far in hardening his heart against not only his family, but also the world in general. His treatment of Kiba was criminal. From the flashbacks, it seems like Kiba has always genuinely loved Sasuke and always been a true friend to him. He deserved to be treated with far more kindness than Sasuke showed him. (Hopefully Sasuke will eventually realize that and make it up to Kiba.) Also, with his lingering resentment toward his parents, what does Sasuke really think about their deaths? Just how much was he affected by it, and by the fact that he never got to make peace with them? Why is he unable to let go of those feelings? There's some hope for him in that he made up with Itachi, but he needs to gain the maturity to be able to forgive his parents as well.
Naruto and Sasuke's relationship is incredibly toxic at the moment. (Probably would have been best for all concerned if he'd taken up Kiba's offer...) The resentment Sasuke feels toward Naruto is unfair (not like Naruto *asked* to be treated differently by the Uchihas), so he needs to let it go, but Naruto is on a whole other level. Sasuke has complicated feelings for Naruto, but with some effort, he can overcome them. Naruto, on the other hand, is actually *plotting* against Sasuke and *wants* to hurt him. Whatever else can be said about Sasuke, he never tried to do anything like that to Naruto. Sasuke will have his work cut out for him in trying to overcome both his own issues and Naruto's. At this point, I'm wondering how the relationship will come about between them. From the flashbacks it seemed like on some level they've always had very deep feelings for one another, but with how they both feel about one another at the moment...? (I'm really hoping you don't have Naruto decide to whore himself out to Sasuke in order to cause a scandal.) Looking forward to the next chapter.

Finally here. Thank you for a good, long chapter. You made me think too.
In brief, my conclusions were:
Naruto's really a brat. All that rant about "bringing Sasuke down" just proves it. Who said there's no villain? Naruto found one :) and I found Naruto really pathetic. Typical for his age, nothing new, you-all-owe-me-something - and pathetic. Namikaze curse? In the end he'll find only more reasons for self-loathing. He’s been hating Sasuke for 4 years.. and did absolutely nothing except for poisoning himself. And meanwhile Sasuke went on with his life, ambitions and plans.. Naruto is very quick to lay all the blame on older ones instead of trying to analyze. Really, why wasn’t Sasuke coming back or inviting him to come?.. Why not to find out? Evil Sasuke.. and now it will be Sasuke’s turn (again) to understand, to find out why oh why Naruto wanted to die :) Sasuke waits on him keeping him warm, fed.. a pitiful picture.
Naruto was alone. It's interesting that while having "good Uchiha" (Itachi) + Kyuubi on his side, Naruto couldn't confide in them with whatever 'dark secret' he kept.
Naruto still doesn't know (or doesn't want to?) a thing about Uchihas. "Sasuke was the reason for everything. Sasuke had hurt everyone just to get back at Uchiha Fugaku though he had had a great relationship with everyone else" (c). How convenient. And Sasuke was Mikoto’s favourite? Did he (Sasuke) know???
Sasuke did the right thing to cut himself off the boy. At least Sasuke couldn't make himself hate the boy and escaped. He didn't only cut off Naruto, he cut himself off too. It appears it was the best decision. Naruto wouldn't have helped to resolve anything and they would have learnt to hate each other. Actually, Naruto is not of much use \ help to anyone. Even to himself. Isn’t Naruto a person who ‘s too eager to victimize himself.. he wants and expects, still, something from people around him, while he’s old enough to give something in return. His appearance in the family may have done something for Fugaku’s public image and conscience, but the child didn’t bring any comfort into the family – quite the opposite. He became a favourite. He may have well deserved love but this didn’t make life easier or solved any problems, right? And then he just added some of his own. Keeps adding.
About hatred: I wouldn’t call this urge ‘hatred’, but this is again one more example of Naruto wanting to get something for his own comfort. Not to give. Yes, Naruto will get what he wants maybe even sooner than he hoped. Sasuke's way more vulnerable he could hope for. I just hope he won’t like what he will see and find out. He definitely will hate himself for a reason, too. Some home truths + things about himself he has to understand. He wants to be justified and ‘avenged’? Then I hope Sasuke will get the same satisfaction, too. Man to man : ) Why to spare the brat.. I vote for open confrontation, ugly, messy confrontation. Naruto conspiring behind sSsuke’s back doesn’t sit with me well.
At least Naruto understands he isn't strong enough to hurt, or 'punish' Sasuke the way a man would. What about honesty?
About Uchihas in general: how you turned it upside down :) Itachi, understanding and most considerate person, cooks. A warm kitchen, a touching scene with a little family reunion. Everyone cares and everything will be okay. Actually, I didn’t believe it at all. Itachi did nothing to help his own blood brother – but, as Fugaku had done, preferred Naruto. And he didn’t explain the situation to Naruto, either. Oh, now he ‘respects’ Sasuke’s decision to get away. Instead of giving him a bit of support and love he spent on Naruto when he needed it. It’s miracle Sasuke doesn’t hate Naruto, really.. sasuke had no chance to stay and not to be torn, and not to taking it all out on Naruto one day. And nobody cared. He escaped.
The chapter's begging for a couple of flashbacks, like the truth about the accident or the situation when Sasuke hurt Naruto.. but pretty much is clear. Well, maybe not but if i made wrong conclusions it's even more interesting.. thank you again. Hope to read more of it.
