I don't really see any cliches right now, but I'm looking for all the missing pieces of this puzzle of a story you're writing. Its feeling very mysterious and suspenseful. I'm looking forward to the next chapter, cause I need to know what Naruto is talking about. And was Kiba alluding to Sasuke possibly having feelings for Naruto. I'm very curious as to how their relationship will come about.

This seems intriguing though I think Sasuke was a snotty brat, or more like a bastard. LOL

Hm, this is a very different approach. Usually they always make Sasuke the dysfunctional and distraught teen but you made Naruto one. I like it. This first chapter had a lot of detail and explained everyone's position well. I like how you captured Itachi's brotherly affection in a sense that shows he's still overprotective and deeply cares, only to have a hard time to show it because of business. Its reasonable excuse after all. Kyuubi is an intelligent, caring and hot-tempered woman. That surprised me the most. Though throughout the chapter I wanted to ask questions about what her relationship with Itachi was. Are they in a relationship? What type of business was she into? I'm just curious. I'm not surprised by Sasuke's approach at things. You have his character down to the last detail. He cares but is in total denial about why he cares. He also seems ruthless and sacrifices the small things in life so he would appear selfish. Though I'm surprised you input that Sasuke was jealous of Naruto when he was younger. Puts a twist in things. This is amazing and I hope you update soon.

Amazing start! I'd really like to see what's all going on inside Naruto's head.
Sasuke as the cold child prodigy, Itachi as dutiful family glue, female Kyuubi that's Tachi-chan's girlfriend, and mysterious, dark and dead eyed Naruto. This story has only begun and its already covered in Awesome-Sauce! Are you really going to make us wait until 8 reviews? That chapter was really long and I'm sure that took a lot of time... I'll review seven more times if it'll get a chapter update to be posted ASAP... :D

Well, I liked the chapter. It left me sad, angry. The whole situation is just too familiar.
As far as I can see, Sasuke and Naruto are both victims of so-called "family", the Uchihas. Naruto, an orphan and the youngest of two, will have hardest time dealing with lack of attention, demands, status issues etc.
You were good at labelling Sasuke cold, selfish, too practical, a bastard etc., but the whole background + flashbacks prove all this to be just a consequence, a survival tactic if you like.. Why should one feel guilty of not feeling something for people who had been forcing him to perform his "family duties" in the past? Obviously, Sasuke didn't feel loved, approved, a part of his own family and wanted to get away from it. It's hard to expect true emotion from such a person. Constant pressure, envy, competition for attention he could never get, feelings of despair as a certain path had been mapped for you.. no freedom at all.
Sasuke is just the kind of person it takes one to become to get out of such a mess of a family.
I hate Kyuubi who looks just like a bitchy Fugaku Uchiha's extension.. she never really cared about Naruto (as well as her boyfriend) and now she selfishly tosses the boy to a better-off Sasuke.. blackmailing = forcing him to do it. Sasuke's again forced to do something. Again. This old resentment, irritation, anger that Sasuke feels now are understandable, real and well-deserved emotions. Still, they believe he owes them something.. he should show something. So he does, hating it all.
As I said, Naruto's going to suffer the most in this situation. He really is not wanted in this family. And he wasn't enough for Sasuke to stay in the family. Hm, what "family" am I talking about??
Good luck with the story. I like the plot and wish Sasuke & Naruto to find something they miss or lost.. somehow.
