I've loved you since I've known you
Hello, everyone! This is my second fan fic, my first Naruto fic, and it will also be my first attempt at a lemon. But by golly, I'm gonna try my best! Please review and let me know what you think.
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. The title is a line from Angel, one of Joss Whedon's masterpieces. I will be pulling a lot of inspiration from his shows, so if it seems familiar, it is, and thank Joss for creating such wonderful stories.
Chapter 1
Naruto entered the cafeteria, scanning the crowd for his best friend. He saw the dark-haired boy waiting in line to buy his lunch. Naruto quickly walked over to him, threading his way through the packed hall.
“Hey, Sasuke!”
“Dobe.”
“You are by far, the best, best, bestest friend ever. Have I ever told you that?”
“What do you want?”
“I kinda forgot my lunch at home and I don’t have any cash on me…can you buy me lunch today? Please?” With this, Naruto whipped out his trademark puppy dog eyes and batted his long lashes. No one could resist the look…except Sasuke.
They moved forward as the line progressed. Naruto’s stomach growled. The food may not have looked fantastic, but it did smell like a gourmet meal just then.
“Only if you help me clean my apartment today after school.”
“Always a string attached, eh, Sasuke?”
“Do you want lunch or not?” They both stepped up to the counter.
“Okay, deal. But I have an amendment to make to said deal.”
“That being…”
“We watch my new movie I bought when we’re done. You have a way better T.V. than I have.”
“Depends…what’s the movie?”
“House of Flying Daggers. It looks sooooo good.”
“Okay, amendment accepted. Lunch is served.” He handed the tray holding both their lunches and started off towards their table.
“What---Sasuke, I’m not your maid.”
“Well, I paid, so you can carry. Come on, I’m hungry.”
They sat down at their usual table in the corner, eyes following the pair’s movement as always. No one understood the friendship between the two most different boys in the school. Ever since grade school, Uchiha Sasuke had been the most popular boy in school. He got the top grades, was the best athlete, and happened to be the most handsome boy as well.
Uzumaki Naruto was the least popular of all the students. He didn’t get the best grades. He was actually a pretty good athlete, but no one could see past Sasuke. He might not have been the best looking kid on the swing set, but in their senior year of high school, he was starting to rival Sasuke in the looks department. Not that anyone noticed. To everyone, he was still the loud-mouthed clown he always was. Not many people tried to get past that to find out who the real Naruto was.
“Dobe.”
Naruto startled and looked at Sasuke. “What?”
“I said hand me my sandwich. You’re a space cadet today, aren’t you?” Sasuke smirked as he accepted his sandwich from Naruto.
“I guess so. Just daydreaming about how much fun it will be to clean your place today. I certainly couldn’t think of anything better to do with my time,” Naruto replied sarcastically.
“I was just thinking the same thing, dobe. I was even going to give you the honor of scrubbing my toilet,” Sasuke said dramatically.
“Har-har. Did I ever tell you how funny you are? Ever think about doing stand up?”
“Eat your lunch, Naruto. You’re going to need energy for the afternoon I have planned for you.” Sasuke said, raising an eyebrow.
Naruto’s stomach flip-flopped, a twisting, burning sensation that he had never felt before. That was weird, he thought. What in the hell was that?
“You’re going to earn your lunch today, dobe, make no mistake about that.” Sasuke’s mouth turned up into a small smile.
What the hell! Why is my stomach acting up? Naruto thought. It doesn’t hurt. I’m not starving or anything. Crazy.
They ate the rest of their lunches in comfortable silence, as was their routine. Naruto occasionally waved to some of their friends that passed by, but no one came to their table to visit with them or eat lunch. It seemed to be an unspoken law of the school that the table was off limits to anyone else. Maybe it was the glare Sasuke sent out to anyone who got too close. He certainly wasn’t popular for his charming personality, that was for damn sure. No one sat with them because Sasuke did not allow it. He would certainly never admit to it, but he rather enjoyed the time alone with his best friend, when they could be quiet and enjoy each other’s company. Those were his favorite times, when it was just the two of them. He was actually looking forward to an afternoon cleaning.
They were jarred from their thoughts when the bell rang. Naruto stood up and collected their garbage. He turned to Sasuke.
“Meet out front after school?”
“Okay. See you later, dobe.”
Naruto smiled. “Later, jackass.” He threw their garbage away and walked out of the cafeteria. Sasuke followed him with his eyes until the blond disappeared through the door. For some reason, he felt a pressing need to run after Naruto and do something, but what that something was, he didn’t have a clue.

Sasuke stood against the big oak tree in front of the school, arms crossed, one knee bent to rest his foot against the large trunk. He watched as Naruto walked out of the front of the school and started to make his way down the steps. Sasuke pushed himself off of the tree to go meet him, but stopped when he saw Naruto suddenly veer off course. He watched as Naruto ran over to Sakura, one of his other close friends. His eyes narrowed as he saw Naruto put an arm around the pink-haired girl’s shoulder and lean in to whisper something.
Why is this pissing me off? Sasuke thought. Why do I give a damn what he does? But his stomach was twisting into knots as he watched Sakura blush, a large grin spreading across her face. Naruto jumped in front of her and shrugged his shoulders, giving her his usual, who, me? face. They talked for a minute more and she pecked him on the cheek before turning to make her way home.
Who the hell does she think she is, kissing him? Sasuke thought. Why do I care? He shook his head. He can do whatever he wants, it’s not like he’s my boyfriend. At that thought his heart sped up and he felt a slight blush tinge his face. Why the hell am I thinking about this at all?
He jumped when he realized that there was a set of blue eyes inches from his.
“Sasuke. Ground control to Sasuke, do you copy, over.” Naruto said, and leaned forward to touch noses with Sasuke. His heart jumped and he quickly stepped back and looked away, trying to hide the blush heating up his face.
“Come on, Sasuke. Let’s get this over with, so we can move on to bigger and better things,” said Naruto, hooking his thumbs in the straps of his backpack.
“You’re going to win the lottery and be my sugar daddy?”
“Well, that too, but I am really looking forward to kicking back and relaxing, watch that movie I was telling you about. Some peace and quiet, you know?”
“Yeah. Let’s get moving.” They began their walk to Sasuke’s apartment, which was only fifteen minutes from the school. They walked in silence, each lost in their own thoughts.
Naruto was suddenly jarred from his when Sasuke stopped and spun around to face him when they approached his place. Naruto’s heart began to pick up pace and he felt like he couldn’t get enough air to his lungs. All he could see were Sasuke’s eyes, inches from his. The most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. A person could lose themselves in those eyes. He could feel Sasuke’s breath on his lips as the other boy spoke. What is wrong with me? Naruto thought. Why am I reacting like this? He shook himself out of it.
“Huh?”
“I said, brace yourself,” Naruto’s heart thumped loudly in his chest, “it is not going to be a pretty sight,” finished the black-haired boy.
Sasuke unlocked his front door and they walked inside.
“Sasuke!?! What the hell? This is not a mess, it’s---”
