Fateful Snowfall
Naruto was running through the forest. He was carrying Hinata in his arms. Tsunade had sent the two of them on a mission to retrieve a scroll from a distant village. The made the exchange just fine. It was not until they were on their way home that disaster struck, in the way of a storm. It had started out as snow and it was fine. Hinata actually laughed when it started snowing and spun around in a circle, dancing in the fallen snow, until she realized that Naruto had turned around and was watching her with a smile, she blushed and brought her two fingers together in her common sign of embarrassment and the two continued on their walk
It wasn’t until an hour later that it started to look bad for them. It warmed up enough that it turned from snow to an icy cold rain. They were both soaked through in a matter of minutes but they trudged on, Hinata refused to give up, not wanting Naruto to think she was weak. They were both soaked and freezing but Naruto was holding up better with the constitution of the Kyuubi keeping him going. Hinata was getting colder and colder, until finally, she didn’t feel cold anymore and she sank down to the ground. She felt so pleasantly warm, she just wanted to sleep.
Naruto saw her fall and ran to catch her, but she was already succumbing to hypothermia. Naruto lifted her up, carrying her in his arms and began running through the forest searching for some kind of shelter. “Hinata!” he yelled at her as he ran, “Hinata, wake up!” he commanded.
Hinata gave a little sigh, “So warm,’ she said softly not even opening her eyes, “Sleep,” she said as though she were so tired she couldn’t say more.
“No, Hinata, you can’t go to sleep, stay awake! I need you to stay with me!” he yelled fighting a losing battle to keep her awake.
“Naruto…” was the last thing she said before succumbing to gentle warmth and darkness that was surrounding her.
With that Naruto pushed himself even harder, he ran and then skidded to a halt, he looked to his left, and in the distance he saw a little cabin. He thanked each and every one of his lucky stars individually and by name as he ran to the little cabin.
He pushed the door open, which was closed but not locked and ran inside slamming the door behind him. It was a very small cabin, just a wood stove, a bed, a table and chairs and some cupboards, but it was in good condition and the stove was ready to light. He carefully put Hinata on the bed and threw their things on the little table. “Don’t you worry, Hinata, I’ll get you warmed up in minute. You’ll be nice and warm before you know it,” he told her as he pulled out some matches and lit the fire.
He turned back to Hinata and began to strip her down without even thinking about it. He didn’t know much about this, and the only thing he could remember was to get them out of their wet clothes as soon as possible.
