I woke her up gently and she looked at me, “why did you save me and take the brunt of the damage?” I looked away slightly and said slowly “because I like you. I don’t know why, but I do.” She gave me a look of shock and she replied “I have liked you for three years, but I thought you would never notice me.” I stared her straight in the eyes and walked over and knelt down to her. We looked at each other as suddenly we heard noises from the trees near us. “There coming” I whispered and kissed her again “I have to go.” I bounded off looking back only for a fleeting moment to see the tears welling up in her eyes. As I ran away, they claimed my eyes as well.
