Chapter 1 – Of Friendship and Cousins

Happy April Fools Day everyone! Here’s a fic about.
I’ll try to complete by the end of the week...May not be able to.
This is dedicated to Animehead and Sama! You two are great writers! And your stories inspired this somehow! Really don’t know, but I got the idea after reading them! :D

Sasuke Uchiha, the Straight A student, a sophomore student, and the Captain of the Varsity Wrestling team at Konoha High. He was considered to be Mr. Popularity even though he didn’t hang with the “Cool” Crowd anymore. Sakura, Ino, Neji, Hinata, Gaara, Temari, Kankuro, and he left it, indirectly, because of a certain blonde haired blue eyes boy.
Naruto Uzumaki, his best friend. And it’s been that way since they meet in Preschool. While Naruto was never part of the cool crowd, but they never picked on him, mostly do to Sasuke being in it. Well freshmen year that all changed. There was a vicious and cruel prank being planned, and after Sasuke and a few others put a stop to it, they left the group and became part of Naruto’s.
It was an odd bunch: Naruto Uzumaki, Shikamaru Nara, Choji Akimichi, Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame, Rock Lee, TenTen Hanabi, Zabuza Momochi, and Haku Hyoton. That was the group, before Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Ino Yamanaka, Hinata and Neji Hyuga, Gaara, Kankuro, and Temari Sabaku, officially joined them. HOW Sasuke pulled that off, is a mystery even to himself. Though he felt like he was forgetting something. Mr. Perfect knew he was forgetting something. He just knew.
“...Little brother...you’ll face will freeze, if you keep staring into the Freezer...Shut the door.” Itachi said, turning the page of his newspaper.
“Shut up...” Sasuke muttered, but did as he was told.
“Now go to bed...you have school in the morning...”
And Sasuke just glared at Itachi, how dare he tell him what to do! Sasuke wasn’t a little kid anymore! “Ten more minutes.
Itachi closed his newspaper and rolled it up. “Bed! NOW!” Was said, as the older Uchiha got ready to hit Sasuke with it.
Sasuke had bolted up the stairs the minute Itachi began to roll up the newspaper.
Quietly entering his room, Sasuke looked at the other figure in it. He had hated sharing his room with his cousin, Sai, at times but it couldn’t be helped. Sai couldn’t sleep by himself yet, not until he got over his parents and older brothers death.
And judging by the wet spot on the pillow and the tear stains on his face, he was still a ways from it. He heaved a sigh. Who was he, to think like that though? Sai was there for him and Itachi when his parents were murdered. It was time to repay the favor wasn’t it?
Sasuke sighed again. That was not how he was excepting to start his summer either. Attending a funeral, and than taking care of Sai for a bit.
He remembered, the first week Sai moved in, the artist tried to burn his brushes and paintings. He became an emotionless bastard for a while too.
After a month of being depressed, Itachi made the ingenious suggestion of having Sai hang out with Sasuke’s friends. And it couldn’t have worked better. Sai sort of knew these people already, and quite a few of them had helped pulled Sasuke out of his funk.
Sai began to paint again after hanging out with them after a while. Naruto’s infectious happiness, Sakura’s sisterly personality, Sasuke’s voice of reason, Ino’s charm, Choji’s kind nature, Shikamaru’s laid back nature, Shino’s silence and fondness of insects, Kiba’s hyperness and love of dogs, Hinata’s cute shyness, Neji’s brotherly attitude to Hinata and smug attitude, Rock Lee’s quirk yet passionate personality, TenTen’s feistiness, Zabuza’s strength, and Haku’s loving nature, managed to wake up Sai from the daze he seemed to be in and bring him back to the real world. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.
Sasuke smirked thinking about his friends. They were an odd group but were capable of even teaching Naruto Geometry, which, by the way, bringing back the dead would have been easier to do, when they worked together.
But that thought kept nagging him. He had forgotten something important he just knew it...
Oh well...Maybe sleeping will help him remember.
With that Sasuke slid into bed, and was soon asleep. Unfortunately he was forgetting something.
Today was March 31st. In one hour, it would be April 1st, April Fools Day.
And April Fools Day was something Sai lived for.
