Prologue
Summary: This is a kakashi/saukura piece. Don't like, don't read. Please review.
This takes place before the chunin exams. Sakura is the same age as she is in the beginning. Not part of the normal storyline.
-----
Sakura felt a jolt through her spine. She looked up at Kakashi and suddenly felt small. She stared up at Kakashi's careless eyes for some tiny thread of support, but she did not recieve it. "Wha... what did you say?" she asked.
Kakashi glared directly at Sakura. She stepped back and away from Kakashi out of fear, but she crossed her arms so that she wouldn't look weak in front of Naruto and Sasuke. Kakashi answered her, "I said that you're off the team."
Coming to reality, Sakura opened her eyes wide. "But... why, Kakashi-sensei?"
Showing no signs of emotion, Kakashi answered. "You clearly became a ninja for the wrong reasons. You not only lack motivation, but also skill and discipline. You will be replaced with Ino Yamanaka, although a team of Naruto and Sasuke alone would work better than the same team with you in it. You are such a horrible ninja that you actually make a small team less effective. I feel as if allowing you to be on our team would be pointless. You'd probably just stand there useless with a kunai every battle, letting your teammates Naruto and Sasuke pick up the slack."
Sakura tried to protest. She tried to make eye contact with Sasuke, but he only grinned and looked out into the distance. She managed to get Naruto's attention, but he only shrugged. It was clear that Kakashi's word was final, and that she had no use as a ninja. She hung her head in shame. "I understand, Kakashi-sensei," she said. She hung her head in shame and retired to her room.
