How it all began.
The ninja were originally only creatures of folklore known as 'elves', but were the actual descendants of a highly advanced race of humanoid alien beings, known as the High Ones. The original planet of the High One's race had been used up by the over-populated High Ones, and several groups of High Ones left that planet in many different egg-shaped vessels, both to find new planets on which to live, and also to explore the larger universe. These immortal beings had practically limitless psychic/magical powers. They were able to adapt to any planet by shape-shifting, and they controlled their vessels with their minds. From their home planet- they took little save for the information on how to use their many special abilities.
After traveling to many different worlds, the High ones finally found a world worth calling their own- Earth. However the High Ones' inability to communicate quickly with the pre-historic, cave-dwelling humans, as well as their inability to rely on their magic, due to the new heavy pressured world, caused a catastrophic misunderstanding that brought on a massacre of the aliens and drove the survivors from their palace-shaped vessel. Many of the elves were slaughtered by the humans who saw the palace-vessel land, and many more died in the unfamiliar environment. Separated in the chaos, several different tribes were begun.
Many of these tribes selected leaders who quickly found ways to provide for their tribes, or clans.
One of them was led by the High One- Kiriko- a wise one with eyes best suited for change. This enviroment was nothing like their own, but she saw ways to adapt- to bring down the fierce prey like that of the mammoth, and many other great creatues. Befriending a massive cat with razor fangs, Kiriko learned to hunt and protect her people in the ways of this strange world. By means of friendship with the great cat- she practiced her ability to shape shift, finally able to take on the shape of the great cat, and hunt along side him.
However, Kiriko began to distance herself from her own Clan, bringing food and such to them,as she had promised she would do, but she was becoming more and more like the great cat.
It was not suprising to the other high ones when Kiriko brought them back a mix of the twos blood- a half breed. Half elven, half great cat.
His name was Yukai, and he became the beginings of something great....
After many centuries of mixing blood with the creatures of the world, as they waited for the humans to evolve- the first true sub race of the High ones was established-
The Jins.
The Jins had the ability to turn into an animal, only one though, and it all depended which class they were from:
Kitsune Jin (Fox Jin)
Ino Jin (canine Jin)
Neko Jin (Cat- Jin)
Uma Jin (Horse Jin)
Taka Jin (Hawk Jin)
Hebi Jin (Snake Jin)
Sakana Jin (Fish Jin)
These 'forms' included four stages:
The Half Stage, in which the person gained things such as fangs, claws, gills, or sharp eyes. An example of a half form is that of a boy with the ears and a tail of a cat- marking him as a Neko-Jin.
Human Full form, this form takes the shape of whatever animal blood is in their blood, however- they remain walking upright in this form. They become covered in fur and fierce attributes that make them stand tall despite their animalistic like appearances.
The full Full Form, they take the form of their beast purely, walking on four legs, or on tallons and wings. This form is one of the worst things that could be an enemy- only one thing could be worse...
The Massive Full Form, very few Jins get to be this age, however, after 200 years of life, they can take on the size of a beast as large as half the size of the Nine Tailed Fox.
All the above examples, were that of the male half of the Jin populations.
There are certain rules for every Jin race that vary from the full rules, but here are the full rules anyways.

Males/Females
Can return to a fully human state/ Are always in the Half Form, with a Tail and ears.
Expeirence a Time of full humanity/ Never experience full humanity.
Are not Rare/ Are Rare
Can get pregnant/ Can get Pregnant
Have a nine month pregnancy/ Have a three-four month pregnancy
Have an average of 2-3 per litter/ Have an average of 5-9 per litter.
Now... in more detail....
The males are the major population of the Jin society as females only turn up once in every 200 Jins. Females have a high risk of dying before they reach the age of 18- so they are highly valued when they do turn up.
Females can not pull in their ears and tails, but they have become masters of hiding them, even if it is just a certain style of dress or way they put their hair, but males on the other hand? Can pull in their ears and tails, and are normally very shy about showing that they have them to begin with. Neko Jins are the most well known Jins, as they are known to travel the world in caravans- happy to show anyone their tallents- while the others are much more... secretive.
Both of the sexes hide because they do not wish to be used as hundreds have been used in the past- sexual slaves.
Males can get knocked up just as easily as females, so in a clan of jin's its not uncommon to see males together walking with a group of children who all look very much alike...
All in all, the jin's are a simple race, with more attributes towards the High Ones then the rest of the world, mainly the ninja's whom all have drops of High One blood in their viens.
Neko-jins can also endure a great deal of pain, and are not pushed to their limits as easily as normal humans or ninja- which is why, in this roleplay, I am making Gaara, Naruto, Sasuke, Kiba, and a few others (like family and such) Jins of various kinds...
The only one you need to know for now is Naruto- a Neko Jin, who was turned into a Kitsune Jin due to the Nine tailed fox within him.
Orochimaru is one of the few Jins known as the Hebi Jin.. or snake jin... (( *Growls* I don't like him....))
