Rainy Nights
He sat huddled against the rain slick wall in the darkened alley where they left him; where they ambushed him as he hurried through the rain. Pulling his knees up to his chest the pain shot through his body making him wince.
“Not again,” he whispered.
The rain came down harder but he didn't notice as he sat there and stared into the darkness. He thought he was safe. He thought they had forgotten. He was 18 now, he thought he was stronger. He was wrong.
“Teme . . . .” he whispered as the rain hid his tears.

Pacing the office, Sasuke's eyes often glanced at the window to see the rain still coming down hard. The irritation was felt by all in the room. Stopping at the window, “where the hell is that dobe?”
Staring at the raven haired nin the Hokage shook her head as she lifted the cup of sake to her lips. As she downed the contents she started to worry a little about her adopted little brother. Tsunade joined Sasuke at the window.
“Why didn’t Naruto come with you?” She asked. Usually they were attached at the hip.
Still looking out the window, “he said he needed to stop at his apartment first to get something. He didn’t tell me what.” Sasuke could still see the little smirk the blond had on his lips as he turned and ran toward his apartment.
It shouldn’t take him this long, he thought as he stared out into the darkening day.
~
Lifting his rain soaked head, Naruto stared out into the streets of Konoha. How could he be so stupid as to think they would forget him; forget what he was? He could still hear them calling him a monster, a demon. He could still smell their scents all over him; feel the weight of their bodies on him. His stomach retched at the thoughts of what they did. The reactions of the villages was something he was very familiar with. He had thought that a year or so away would be time enough, but...they hate him for what he was. They just didn’t understand. He was still Naruto, but unfortunately he was also the vessel for Kyuubi..
Taking a deep breath he forced himself to move. The cold rain numbed his body to the pain he felt as he made his way to the entrance of the alley. As he peered out he could see the streets were bare because of the weather, “thank Kami,” he whispered as he stepped out onto the street. He looked in the direction of the Hokage tower then turned in the opposite direction, toward home.
~
“I’m going to look for him.” Sasuke told the busty Hokage. He headed toward the door. As he reached for the knob the door flew open and in stomped a pissed of kunoichi with pink hair. She was dragging an unconscious man by his ankle.
Sasuke raised a dark brow and estimated the man to be at least 6’3’’, weighing close to 300lbs. Sakura dragged him in as if he was nothing but a sack of potatoes.
“Hokage-sama, I have something to tell you!” Stopping in front of the large wooden desk, she let go of the man’s ankle. Reaching down, she grabbed the man by the throat and hoisted him up.
“What has this man done Sakura?”
Sakura was trying to control her anger. Pounding this bastards head in sounded sweet to her inner chibi Sakura after she heard what he and his friends did. “As I was walking past the ramen stand I heard them talking about what they did earlier tonight.”
Sasuke’s stomach churned, he was getting a sick feeling. He moved closer.
“It has something to do with Naruto-kun.”
That got the Uchiha’s attention, “what about Naruto?”
“They were talking about how they had fun earlier that night. Then they mentioned that the nine tailed demon brat was a good. . .” she couldn’t finish.
The unconscious man chose that moment to struggle in the kunoichi’s grip. Having heard her mention the nine tailed demon he perked up. The alcohol fumes seeped from the man’s mouth as he spoke, “yeah that little blond demon was a good lay! He deserved it anyway for being such a monster!”
Tsunade just saw a black blur as Sasuke grabbed the intoxicated man by his neck. His eyes were black flames as he carried the squirming man over to the balcony. The rain still came down hard, but the dark ninja didn’t notice as he stalked over to the railing and hung the man over.
“SASUKE!” both the Hokage and Sakura shouted as they ran after him.
“Stay back!” he growled. He looked at the doomed man. “Where. Is. Naruto.”
~~Naruto's apartment~~
Naruto stood under the warm spray of water and relaxed, just a bit. He was glad that he had warm water instead of the cold he was use to. He had been in the shower for at least 30 minutes. Once he cleaned the scent of those men off him he turned the water off and toweled himself dry.
As he walked out of the bathroom his eyes rested on the broken window. Pulling on a pair of pajama bottoms and a pair of socks he went to the hall closet to get some material. Smirking Naruto grabbed a piece of wood, nails and a hammer, thinking if he failed at being the next Hokage, he could always hire himself out as a window repairman.
Placing the wood over the hole he hammered it in place. Luckly the wind wasn't blowing rain through his window, at least something was going right, he thought as he finished the window. Whoever broke in really didn’t do too much damage, hell; he didn’t have that much to damage. He had learned a long time ago not to leave anything precious in his apartment. That’s why all his important stuff, which wasn’t much, was left at Iruka-sensei’s place
He sat down on the bed. I’m so tired, he thought. He was tired of being blamed for what the demon sealed inside of him did. He was tired of being beaten up; he was tired of being raped, spit on, called names . . . he was just tired.
‘Kit, I'm sorry.’
‘What are you sorry about fuzz ball?’
‘You're being blamed for what I did.’
Naruto didn't respond. He opened his hand and a small vial rested in the center. He had to resort to a sleeping potion in order to calm his mind down enough to rest. Usually Sasuke’s warmth stopped the nightmares, but tonight...tonight was too much. He's reached his limit. Sasuke's warmth doesn't seem like enough now.
‘Kit why don't you use my power to kill those that hurt you?’
‘I can't. I promised to protect this village with my life. One day I will be Hokage but. . . .but will they accept me.’ His voice was taking on a dreamy tone like something wasn't quite right.
‘Kit what are you doing?’
‘I'm going to sleep.’
Naruto opened the small vial and raised it to his lips. A single tear rolled down his cheek as he drank the contents. He laid down and pulled the blanket over his cold body.
Naruto stared up at the ceiling wondering if he would be missed. He wondered if he would miss him. As the darkness claimed him, his only thoughts were that of Sasuke and the sound of the rain.
‘KIT!!! NARUTO!!!!’
“Not again,” he whispered.
