I Hope It Was Worth It

Neji undid the string in his hair, unleashing his luxurious sable locks. He stared into his mirror as his young face had showed the weary and fatigue of a long day. He took his time preparing for bed, slowly pulling off his vest and shorts and groaning with each and every movement.

The mission had taken quite a toll on him, despite that he would never show it, and he wanted to use this night for some well deserved rest, unlike his happy-go-lucky team member and leader Lee and Gai who, for some strange reason, had the energy to go out and celebrate their victory with drinks at the local restaurant. Neji did not want anything to do with them or their "damned power of youth" for as long as possible.

“You did a great job out there today Lee, but you should—“

“Really, Gai Sensei?! Wow, to actually be praised by the all-powerful Gai Sensei, I must be doing something right!

“Lee…”

“Oh, thank you, kind sensei! Just the fact that you deem me fit for praise just puts me one step closer—“
“Lee…”

“...to being one of the most splendid ninja of all time, the most powerful taijutsu master, and the most—“

“BURNING SLAP OF YOUTH!!!” POW!!! “If you were to let me finish, I would tell you that you need to work on maximizing you power and flash so that your attacks are bone-crushing and awe-inspiring, like mine!” He throws up a thumb and gives a sun-bright gleaming smile.

“Yes, Gai Sensei!”

“Now if, you’ll excuse me, I must go to the restroom. Wait for me to get back so that we can enjoy our drinks as master and pupil should.”

Lee’s eyes gleamed with delight. “Yes, Gai Sensei!”

Gai walked away with his eyes closed and a sly smile. “He thinks I’m so cool. Any day now I’ll be hittin’ that from dusk till dawn!”

Lee became lost in a daydream of admiration of his sensei. He longed so much to be him that even he realized it was almost pathetic. However, with the long, weary day behind him, his incredible ninja skills began to wane, so much so in fact, that he did not notice the server coming over with his pitcher or water and sake for them. Nor did he notice that the server tripped and the sake flying straight for his head until it was too late…

“Well, Lee, let’s drink up to the power of—UH!” The restaurant had had a giant hole ripped in the wall where they were sitting. The waiter lay on the floor, bruised beyond recognition, the pitcher of sake had been completely emptied, and, what Gai feared most of all, Lee was nowhere in sight.

Tell me what you think, please!
