Chapter 1
"conversation"
'thoughts'
This story is set after manga chapter 371.
Every muscle in Sasuke's body was aching and he felt the long fight taking its toll on him. He was panting heavily and his heart was racing and pounding against his rib cage.
But he mustn't slow down nor show any signs of exhaustion, because this fight was the reason he had been training so hard, the reason he had left Konoha and had joined Orochimaru, the reason he had given everything up, and the reason that he was still alive. In the end all came to Itachi... and his death.
The younger narrowed his eyes on his brother, who looked a bit exhausted as well, much to his delight.
Suddenly the sky turned blood red and the clouds black. Sasuke recognized immediately that this was Itachi's genjutsu, because he had had to experience these hours of torture beforehand.
Again, the raven-haired male was eight years old and trapped in the most horrific day of his life. The room was sparsely illuminated by the light of the full moon, the corpses of his parents were lying in front of him and his brother stood behind them with an expressionless mien.
This picture, which he wanted to forget the most, hit him like a hot nail driven right through his heart. The 8-year old boy collapsed to his knees as the emotions of this day swept over him once again: Sorrow, incomprehension ...and first and foremost fear.
All rational thoughts were gone, Sasukes whole body was trembling, he heard his heart pounding and nearly lost consciousness.
'You are weak! Why are you weak? Because you lack hatred!' Itachi's mocking voice echoed in Sasuke's mind.
No, no, this time Sasuke did not want to lose, not this time.
He forced himself to breathe in slowly and regain at least some control over his body, which was easier said than done.
'Focus! You're a sharingan user as well and your eyes can see through genjutsus!' Sasuke hissed to himself. 'Or do you want to be trapped here and at the mercy of Itachi?'
He raised his head and his crimson sharingan bore through his brothers. "Don't screw around!", the young boy screamed.
Sasuke felt the black walls around him crumble as the effect of the genjutsu wore off. In the split of a second he was on his feet again and stabbed Itachis left side with his Chidori sword. He pumped more charka through the blade as he noticed that he had hit a vital spot.
The mangekyou user gasped, "Finally you have surpassed the obstacle I always was, my foolish little brother."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed to small slits when he heard his brother say those words he knew too well. ‘I’ll end this, once and for all!' the raven-haired reassured himself.
Suddenly he was behind his brother and made hand signs so quickly, they weren't visible for the naked eye.
"Katon: Gokakyu no jutsu!" Sasuke yelled and a huge, blazing fireball approached his opponent rapidly. Itachi dodged the attack by jumping to his left, which was exactly what the raven haired teen had wanted him to do.
The younger Uchiha took the opportunity to appear right next to the man he hated so much, chidori chirping in his left hand, as he thrust the jutsu in his brother's heart region.
Itachi broke down right before Sasukes eyes.
The 16-year old beside him fell on his knees and supported himself with his hands on the ground. Heavily panting the raven-haired boy had problems to carry his own body weight and not to lose his balance.
Nevertheless he gathered all his hatred and detestation for the man lying in front of him and mobilized his last reserves. He didn't want to give in and so he raised his hand highly and punched Itachis side with full force, but his brother showed no reaction at all. Once again he raised his hand and this time he hit him so hard, he felt a rib breaking under his fist.
Blind with rage he failed to realize the other ninja had already stopped breathing.
The teen stood up and began to kick Itachi, so that the lifeless body was slightly lifted off the ground and fell back with a thud. Only when Sasuke paused to take deep breaths he calmed down and looked at the motionless body. The raven-haired male's eyes widened as it occurred to him that his brother probably wouldn't stand up ever again.
The younger Uchiha went down on all fours and swallowed, while he fumbled for Itachis carotid... As he felt nothing, he put his fingers down slightly right of the position before, but yet again there was no pulse.
'He is ...dead,' were the only coherent thoughts his mind was able to bring about.
He shrank back and sat down absent-mindedly, as he was unable to grasp any other thought. He saw nothing but the sight of his brother, who lay in the grass, mud- and bloodstained. Sasuke had no idea how long he sat there, totally bewildered. He had lost the feeling for time and it was as if the world had stopped turning this very moment.

AN:
This is my very first FF, so please don't be harsh. I know my writing skills are probably average or even worse, but keep in mind English isn't my first language.
But this story kept bugging me and I just have to write it down.
I know, this chapter is quite short, but I want to make future chapters longer. ;))
Reviews are welcome! :)
