Part One

Disclaimer: I don’t own any of the Naruto characters, I just like to imagine them in my own little world (which is totally of my making). No profits are made from this story, just gratuitous pleasure.

Summary: It was more than just a kiss. One minute he had been glaring into his nemesis’ eyes, Uchiha Sasuke, next minute his lips were pressed firmly against those of that emotionless boy.

Rating: NC-17

Warning Codes: Anal,Angst,Lang,M/M,WAFF,WIP,Yaoi (other warnings apply as the story continues)

Pairings: SausxNar

A/N: I probably should never be allowed to read anything that I have written after it’s done. I was re-reading this story, and I was shocked and appalled by the number of spelling and grammar errors that I found in it. I really detest reading stories with such glaring errors, mine especially, and so this is just to set my own mind at ease and correct what should never been allowed to be there in the first place. Thanks for bearing with me on this. I know it might seem to be a little insane, but that’s just who I am this week, an insane grammar/spelling Nazi. Thanks for all of your wonderful support.

Feedback is appreciated. I enjoy hearing from all of my readers. You are what makes writing worth while. I hope that you enjoy reading it.

My sincere thanks to the following for the reviews of the ending chapter:

Trigger Happy Bitch: Thank you for all of your continued support and the reviews. I always enjoyed them. I will start writing again, but first I need to finish off my Gundam Wing fic that I have been sadly neglecting. So watch for me in the future.

Kirai: thanks for your support. Unfortunately, those questions won’t be answered in this fic, as I am going to stopping it here, but there will be a sequel at some point in the future that will address those points.

More Than Just a Kiss

Part One

It was more than just a kiss, Naruto mused. One minute he had been glaring into the eyes of his nemesis, trying to fathom just what all of those twittering, brainless girls found in the cold, dark eyes of Uchiha Sasuke, the next minute his lips were pressed firmly against those of that emotionless boy. And it felt… it felt so unusual, so unexpected, almost as if a spark had passed between the two of them.

Then Sakura’s fist connected with his head and he was flat on the floor, all on the girls in the class room screaming for his blood for getting the first kiss of the Uchiha. Somehow, the girls all felt as if they had been cheated of something precious that by right belonged to one of them.

Sasuke was as inscrutable as always, but Naruto could almost swear that there was a glimmer of doubt in those dark, emotionless eyes. Perhaps even a hint of wonder?

What a shock it had been to hear Sasuke’s name called for his team, though. Naruto had been thrilled almost beyond belief when Sakura was announce after him, but the inclusion of Sasuke was a bitter pill to swallow. It took away the elation that he had felt upon hearing her name. He had thought that just for a moment he might have a chance with her, but Naruto could see that all of Sakura’s attention would be focused on the Uchiha and he would hardly stand a chance with her now. His small glimmer of hope burst like a soap bubble.

Sakura was as much obsessed with the silent, dark-haired boy as the rest of the silly, giggling girls, if not more so. Naruto could just see it now. It would be “Sasuke-kun, Sasuke-kun, Sasuke-kun…” to the exclusion of everyone and everything else.

Just what was so great about damned ‘Sasuke-kun’ anyway? He was sullen, broody and dark. He ignored everyone, refused to be sociable and was obsessed with being the best, in contrast to Naruto’s own sunny, out-going, happy-go-lucky personality. But all of the girls passed him by in their single minded pursuit of ‘Sasuke-kun’. Was it any wonder that Naruto felt a bit intimidated by the other boy and therefore defensive and hostile towards him? Not that it seemed to bother the Uchiha in the slightest bit. He constantly avoided Naruto as much as he did Sakura.

It made it very hard for the three of them to form a cohesive team, because Sakura was so worried about Sasuke that she couldn’t concentrate on anything else, Sasuke ignored the other two completely and Naruto was overtly trying to impress Sakura by outdoing Sasuke, while covertly watching Sasuke for some sign of recognition.

Soon Naruto found himself watching Sasuke constantly, even going as far as to follow him around, spying on what he was doing. Before he knew it, he was as obsessed with the dark-haired boy as Sakura and the rest of the girls were. All of his thoughts seemed to center around the elusive dark-haired boy.

Naruto even found the other boy invading his dreams at night. And what dreams they were. They would walk for miles and talk for hours. They would spar together and compete in their training to see which of them would be first to master the new techniques that Kakashi-sensei was teaching them. And they would sit and eat ramen together.

And nowhere in any of these dreams did Sakura appear. Yes, Naruto still tried to get her attention and impress her, but now it seemed more out of long time habit instead of out of any real interest. The only one who’s attention that he really wanted now was Sasuke’s.

And little by little, as they were forced to work together, Sasuke started to respond to the perky, out-going blonde. He would talk briefly to Naruto, and, occasionally, he even smiled or laughed at the things Naruto did or said. Slowly, very slowly, the Uchiha was opening himself up to Naruto and letting the blonde get a fraction nearer to him.

It was a total conundrum that neither boy understood, that the two could no longer fight the attraction that was growing between the two of them. Sooner try to stop the sun from rising that to try to stop the feelings that they were starting to have for each other. It all came to a head on the day that Naruto once again asked Sasuke to go eat ramen with him after practice, as he always did, and the Uchiha accepted.

Naruto stood, speechless, mouth open in amazement.

“So, are we going, or was it all just talk?” asked Sasuke, a touch of contempt in his voice.

“No! No, let’s go,” exclaimed Naruto, thrilled to the core by the other’s acceptance. “I’m just so used to you saying no that I was shocked for a moment.”

They started off for Ichiraku Ramen, Naruto’s favorite ramen shop, the blonde chattering 90 miles a minute.

“Don’t talk,” commanded Sasuke, after a few minutes.

“Wh… what?” Naruto’s speech stuttered to a stop.

“Don’t talk. You sound just like them, and I can’t stand them. Chattering, brainless magpies,” stated Sasuke.

“Al… alright,” agreed Naruto, not wanting anything to disrupt this date. Date? Was he really going on a date with Sasuke? Better not say that out loud. That just might get him punched and then he’d find himself eating ramen alone. And he definitely didn't want to be alone. Unless it was alone somewhere with Sasuke.

Naruto sighed dreamily, thinking about the dark-haired boy looking deep into his bright blue eyes, reaching a hand out to his, leaning in towards him with parted lips… A smack in the head quickly brought him out of his dangerous daydream. Better never let Sasuke know about that thought, either.

“Are we going to eat, or are you just going to stand there and sigh like an idiot all day?” asked Sasuke, an almost knowing glint in his eye.

“Eat,” exclaimed Naruto. “Definitely eat.”

He quickly led the way inside of Ichiraku Ramen, and the two seated themselves at the counter. Ayame, the bubbly girl who worked there with her father, greeted them and sat two steaming bowls of ramen in front of the hungry boys. They dug in, Naruto fast and furious, Sasuke with a little more reserve and dignity, and soon all that could be heard was the sounds of enjoyment that went with good ramen. Sasuke finished a few minutes after Naruto, then they sat in silence, each boy trying to figure out what to say or do next.

“Wanna go for a walk?” Naruto finally asked in a rush.

“Walk?” asked Sasuke skeptically, an eyebrow raised at the cheeky blonde.

“Well, not really a walk. I mean, just, do you wanna walk around and maybe talk, or something?” Naruto asked, hoping that the dark-haired boy wouldn’t be offended. He didn’t want Sasuke to get pissed and leave. Not now, not when they were getting on so well.

“Sure, why not?” Sasuke replied after appearing to ponder it for a bit.

Naruto’s heart started to do cartwheels in his chest and he could barely contain his grin of elation. This date was just getting better and better. Maybe, just maybe, he might get in another kiss while Sasuke was in a good mood. Before he killed him, that is.

They left the ramen shop and walked around the village aimlessly, not talking, but feeling comfortable in the companionable silence. Sasuke was just starting to relax and feel that this might not be such a bad thing after all, when he was rudely jerked out of his thoughts by Naruto abruptly pulling him into a near by alley.

Before the Uchiha could explode, Naruto clapped a hand over his mouth and dragged him deeper into the shadows, pressing their bodies tightly against the wall, then he pointed to the opening of the alley. There stood Sakura, looking around, puzzled. She would have sworn that she had just seen the object of all of her affections, but he had abruptly disappeared. She stood still for a couple more minutes, while Naruto and Sasuke barely dared to breathe.

Naruto was strongly aware of the feeling of Sasuke’s body so intimately close to his own, the dark-haired boy’s breath caressing his neck though his hand, the heat radiations off of his compact, muscular body. Naruto could feel his body starting to react to the other’s and couldn’t help but moan softly to himself as his groin pressed against Sasuke’s thigh.

At that moment Sakura left and Naruto relaxed, his hand coming away from Sasuke’s mouth, his head dropping to the others shoulder, but he didn’t pull away from Sasuke. And surprisingly, Sasuke didn’t shove him away. Instead, he turned his head and licked the side of Naruto’s neck. Naruto stiffened in surprise. Did… did Sasuke just lick him?

“So, gonna keep me pinned here all day?” came the husky whisper in his ear.

“I’d like to,” Naruto replied softly, hardly believing what was happening.

“I don’t just give it up in a dirty alley like some kind of cheap whore,” said Sasuke, finally pushing the other back gently.

“Where would you give it up?” Naruto asked, reluctant to move too far away from the warmth of the other.

“In my bed, if you’re lucky,” Sasuke replied.

“So, how do I get lucky?” Naruto asked, his curiosity piqued. Was Sasuke actually coming on to him? This was almost too good to be real. He kept waiting for the body that was so close to his to disappear in a puff of smoke. That it didn’t seemed a miracle.

“Depends on how the rest of this little walk goes,” Sasuke stated. “It’s been gong pretty well, so far. Don’t fuck it up.”

Naruto stepped back quickly as those dark eyes clashed with his. Inside, it felt as if all of the fireworks in the world had just gone off in his head. But, somehow, he held on to his composure, determined to make this date one to remember. It looked like he just might get his kiss, and if he was really lucky, maybe even more. Maybe he would even lose his virginity today. Just the thought of that was enough to make his cock harden fully. Good thing his pants weren’t too tight, or he’d really be embarrassed.

Taking a deep breath, he turned and headed out of the alley, Sasuke following, with a small smirk adorning his normally bland face.

They walked silently for a while longer and finally ended up near the training grounds, which, thankfully, was empty at the moment. And, although Naruto had a thousand thoughts running through his head and was almost bursting with the need to let them out, he was mindful of Sasuke’s earlier comments about brainless, chattering magpies, and somehow managed to keep himself in check. He knew that this was a test that Sasuke was imposing on him, trying to see how much control he could maintain over the blonde, and Naruto was determined to pass it. The prize at the end was just too tempting and Naruto wanted all of it.

They had crossed the field and just entered the trees when Sasuke abruptly grabbed Naruto, pulled him behind one of the trees and pinned him up against it with his body.

Eye to eye, lips almost touching they paused, waiting.

“Is this what you want, Naruto?” Sasuke finally whispered, lips brushing against the blondes.

“Oh, yes,” breathed Naruto, eyes sliding closed.

Sasuke’s lips continued to brush against his gently in soft little kisses and Naruto could feel the other’s body starting to react as Sasuke gently rubbed his growing erection against the blonde’s thigh.

“I know that you watch me all of the time,” Sasuke continued. “I thought it was Sakura that you loved.”

“No. Not any more. It’s you,” Naruto confessed. “You’re all that I want, all that I think about, all that I need. Only you…”

“Why?” asked Sasuke.

“Huh?” responded Naruto, confused.

“Why the change of heart? How do I now that you won’t stop feeling this way about me, too?” Sasuke probed, pressing hard against the other’s body, lips on his neck now.

“Ahhh…” Naruto moaned in response. “Because she… she only sees you, so I started watching you to see what she saw in you. And… and I liked what I saw, and I wanted it, wanted you, for myself.”

“You’re fickle,” Sasuke stated, pushing a thigh between Naruto’s legs.

“No… no,” Naruto breathed against the Uchiha’s neck. “I just realized that she was beyond me, she would never see me as more that an annoyance, that it would always be you that her eyes were on, and I moved on.”

“To me. Why me?” Sasuke asked again, determined to get the answer that he desired more that anything.

“You’re strong, you’re reliable, and you’re hot as hell,” replied Naruto, daring to lay a line of kisses along Sasuke’s neck. “And I want you for my own.”

Sasuke was quiet for a moment as his lips went back to the blondes. He kissed Naruto hungrily and his tongue probed the other’s lips, demanding entry, which Naruto gladly gave him. Tongue caressed tongue for a few moments and body rubbed against body. Hands started to roam and explore, needing the feel of skin as they pushed their way under each other’s clothes.

Sasuke’s mouth moved from the blonde’s mouth to his neck, where he sucked hard for a moment, leaving a vivid red mark against the tanned skin, then he pulled himself back, disengaging.

“Not here, not like this,” he said quietly, then reached up to touch the mark he’d just left. “Consider this a promise. If you can show me the control that you had this afternoon for one month, I’ll make you mine.”

“What?” gasped Naruto, bereft at the sudden loss of his warm, willing companion. “What do you mean?”

“Control yourself. Learn to control all aspects of your life. I know you can. Learn to control and channel your emotions and focus yourself on your training, and I’ll give you what you want,” Sasuke stated.

Naruto stood, biting his lip, thinking of what this would entail. He wasn’t sure he could do as the Uchiha demanded. After all, it was in his personality to be emotional, to argue, to be impulsive. Perhaps he would find that Sasuke was beyond him, as well. He closed his eyes and sighed heavily.

“I’m sorry. I don’t think I can do that,” he replied sadly. “You’re asking me to change who I am. I can’t be what I’m not. I have to be who and what I am. I’m sorry, Sasuke.”

Eyes downcast and head bowed, Naruto prepared to turn his back on yet another unrequited love. He sighed again.

“Maybe, at least, we can be friends?” he asked softly, starting to walk away, not trusting the answer he might get.

Sasuke grabbed his hand as the blonde started to turn away and pulled him back to himself. He looked deeply into the sad blue eyes, searching for something, some deeper meaning, perhaps. He sighed and bowed his head as well, then reached up a hand to brush away the single tear that trickled down Naruto’s face.

“I’m sorry, too,” he whispered. “But friends? Yeah, we can be friends.”

And he let the blonde walk away from him.

“But, one day,” the soft words followed Naruto, “one day, I’m going to keep that promise.”
