Kisame and Itachi stood on top of the wall surrounding Konoha. A cool night breeze blew fallen leaves past them, swirling their black cloaks menacingly. Itachi bristled at the sight of his old village, his emotions a bittersweet mix. Kisame sensed this, as much as one could sense Itachi’s emotions.
Itachi nodded at Kisame, signaling for them to move. Kisame followed him as they leapt to the bottom of the darkened streets . They each cast cautious looks down the abandoned nighttime streets of Konoha. No one in their right mind would be awake at three in the morning, but still, the two Akatski members could not be too careful. Itachi led the shark-man down the familiar streets to the Uchiha complex. Exactly what Itachi wanted from his old house was still an enigma… but as usual, Kisame played along. It was not that he liked to humor Itachi, he had been ordered to. The fact was, he was incredibly unstable. Itachi had even been hearing voices of late, accusing the other Akatski members of plotting against him.
“Wait out here…” Itachi snapped, taking off his shoes before entering the building. Kisame thought this was strange, but said nothing, sinking into the shadows of the doorway. The same breeze continued to blow down the streets. Kisame shivered despite his cloak and shouldered Samehada. He heard a sound and froze. Someone was coming slowly down the streets. He stood with baited breath and wrapped himself deeper into the shadows.
A man was walking down the street, flipping through papers absently as he walked. From his clothing, Kisame guessed he was a chuinin, but his pre-occupied demeanor, book bag, and the amount of papers he had, he was also a teacher.
He was a handsome man, with a boyish face and a pleasant build. A deep scar ran across his otherwise perfect nose and his chocolate brown hair has pulled up into a ponytail. Kisame felt his heart skip a beat and immediately wanted this man for himself. He felt, at that moment, like his world would end if he could not have him. Itachi came out as the cute chuinin passed by without noticing the Monster of the Hidden Mist hiding in the shadows.
“Why are you ogling Umino Iruka, Kisame?“
Umino Iruka. Kisame even liked his name.
“If you want him, just take him…he’s just a little academy teacher…not really a gifted ninja at all. Certainly no match for us….“
The October breeze caught the man’s papers, and as if the wind had obeyed Itachi’s command, blew the papers into the Uchiha’s doorway. Iruka froze, looking up at the two men framed in the doorway.
“Uchiha Itachi!” He hissed, taking a defensive position.
“Now, now, Iruka sensei…” Itachi said, stepping forward as the chuinin gripped a kunai in his hand. Kisame followed suit, stepping in front of the young man.
“Are you here for Sasuke?”
“Don’t be a fool…we know he’s on a mission…” Itachi hissed, disappearing for a moment before he reappeared behind the startled chuinin. Kisame reached forward, attempting to grab the man before him. He soon found himself holding on to a log.
Iruka knew that he couldn’t take the two s-class criminals alone…he needed help, he needed to tell Tsunade…
Iruka leapt off the roof of the Uchiha complex, the Akatsuki members in hot pursuit. He felt a sharp pain in his leg as Itachi threw a kunai with deadly accuracy. It was from that moment on that Iruka knew that they had no intention to kill him. If Itachi wanted him dead, he would be dead by now.
But what do they want with me? I don’t have any ‘special’ information about Konoha… Iruka dodged another kunai with lightning speed even he didn’t know he had.
As the two Akatsuki members gained on him, he felt the walls of the city close in on him. He paused just shy of the Hyuuga complex.
Damn! I knew I was done for the moment I saw these two…what am I going to do? He pulled out his kunai, taking a defensive stance. He smiled, hoping that somewhere below him, a Hyuuga would be practicing the Byakugaan. It was a slim chance, but the only hope for him at the moment.
“Come quietly, Iruka-sensei…”
“Never.” He said defiantly.
Itachi shrugged, drawing his sword. Kisame did the same with a laugh, shouldering the Samehada.
“Just answer me one thing: What do you want with me?” Iruka said, mentally preparing himself for what he was about to do. Itachi narrowed his eyes.
“You’ll find out soon enough, Iruka-sensei. I would advise, for the meantime, you watch where you put your kunai.” Iruka froze.
How could Itachi know… Iruka smiled, clenching his teeth as he brought the kunai down towards his stomach, preparing to commit seppuku. He felt strong, cold fingers grip his wrist and looked up in surprise as Itachi squeezed his wrist painfully. He felt the bones crack and he looked up into those deadly Sharingan eyes.
“Come quietly, Iruka sensei.”
Iruka felt his world melting away around him as the Sharingan began to effect his mind.
