Heart of a Fox
Ch.1
Naruto had been in the hospital for the last three days, but it wasn't because he was injured. It was one of his team members.
Hinata Hyuga had been cut with a poisoned blade by Itachi of the Akatski. It was another attempt to capture Naruto and steal Kyubi, but instead of hitting Naruto, Hinata took the Kunai in the shoulder. After a few moments Hinata fell unconcious. When she fell, Naruto entered into a fox rage, and with one punch knocked Itachi for miles. He then scooped up Hinata and raced off to the village, straight to the hospital, because he could smell that something wasn't right.
Naruto was right. After a quick inspection by a medi-nin she was rushed to an emergency room to be worked on. Naruto watched as Sakura ordered the nurses and other medi-nin around trying to find the problem. After what seemed like an eternity Sakura relaxed, she had slowed the poison, and that should give them enough time to find an antidote.
Now she was sleeping and had been since she was brought to the hospital. Naruto had been by her side from the moment she was placed in the observation room. Sitting next to her bed, clutching her hand, unable to bring himself to leave her side. Not knowing what he could do to help, or what he would do if she didn't make it.
Later that night, Sakura walked by the door to Hinata's room when she noticed the door was open. Inside Naruto was asleep in a chair, head resting on his arms, still holding her hand. She knew he needed to go home and get some real sleep or he would end up with a bed of his own in the hospital. So she decided to wake him and get him to go home.
As she reached for Naruto's shoulder she spoke "Naru...", but before she could even finish his name a claw of red chakra reached up from his back and grabbed her wrist. At that moment Naruto's eye popped open, but instead of his normal crystaline blue eyes staring back at her, she saw an angry bright red eye glaring at her as if to say leave me alone or I'll ripe your throat out. Sakura pulled her arm free and left the room, then headed for Tsunade's office to tell her what happened.
[Your welcome, Kit. Now, lets see if we can't help the girl before you destroy us both.]
At that moment Naruto's hands began to glow with an orange-red light of Kyubi's chakra.
