Whoops! Another short chapter, No NC-17 stuff here either, sorry but as I said I'm enjoying this story somewhat. (I'm also enjoying abusing Neji)


Chapter 10

He knocked on the door again after he didn't get a response the first time.

"Oh well, he's not home, let's go."

"Oh, he's home and we're not leaving without him."

The blonde went back into his brooding state next to the Uchiha. Why did he want to bring along that jerk all of a sudden, it was just supposed to be him and Sasuke anyway. Naruto pouted.

They heard a voice on the other side alerting them that he was coming. He opened the door and as soon as he saw Sasuke WITH Naruto his mood darkened.

"What the hell do you want?" he asked in his voice-of-authority.

"Naruto and I are going out and you're coming with us," Sasuke didn't beat around the bush and he didn't ask either, he didn't want to give the Hyuga the chance to say no. But he did anyway.

Before he could completely close the door in their faces, Sasuke had wedged himself between the aperture. "Wait outside," he issued the command to Naruto before slipping in Neji's room and closing the door behind him.

Naruto gaped in shock when he heard the two men begin to argue in the next room, he couldn't make out what they were saying though, these doors were apparently semi-sound-proof. They got louder and and the argument became more heated and Naruto heard the Hyuga's voice become more shrill.

"GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF ME, UCHIHA!"

He heard that one clear as day and he hoped none of the other dormers heard it either and tried to call the cops. There was a sound like something toppling over and he heard a crash and Naruto wondered if HE should call the cops. They scuffled for a while, Hyuga screaming at the top of his lungs for the Uchiha to let him go and the Uchiha? Only God knew what the Uchiha was doing to Neji right now. Naruto felt uncomfortable. He didn't like the pompous jerk very much but even this, he thought, was too much for him. If he didn't want to go, Sasuke shouldn't force him or...abuse him...

His heart suddenly went out to his enemy and just as he was about to reach for the door knob to rush to his aid and restrain Sasuke he heard his friend's voice telling him he could now come in. Naruto swallowed hard and opened the door slowly, half expecting to see Sasuke standing over a very dead Neji. He sighed with relief when he saw that Neji was very much alive.

He was lying on his stomach, pressed into the carpeted floor by the Uchiha who was straddling his hips, gripping both his arms behind his back with one hand while his other hand was fisted in his long, ebony hair to keep his head in place. Neji's face was red with rage and his breath was coming in strangled puffs, Naruto imagined it was difficult to breathe in that position. He was just about to open his mouth to say something when Sasuke shot him a cold and angry glare.

"Keep that smart mouth of yours shut, Uzumaki and sit in that chair."

Naruto obeyed without protest.

"U-chiha," Neji groaned.

"WHAT?!" Sasuke screamed and Naruto almost jumped out of his seat.

"You're hurting me."

"Shit!" Sasuke got off the boy but kept a firm grip on him just in case he tried anything. He whispered a threat to the shorter boy before shoving him roughly into the recliner facing Naruto's. Both men struggled to catch their breath, Neji rubbed the side of his face that had been pressed against the floor, the skin tingled from being rubbed against the fibers. Sasuke ran a hand through his hair and looked from one boy to the next his expression daring them to try anything funny.

"Okay look, this shit has gone on long enough. Naruto," he looked over at the blonde and Naruto tore his gaze away from the ground to look over at the man that said his name. "You're my best friend, I trust you with my life. Hyuga," he turned to face the other man who broke his gaze from Naruto to look up at him. "You are...we...you're still a very important person to me even after what we've been through. Look, you both mean alot to me and I like you in different ways but I don't prefer one over the other. Naruto," he looked over at the blond again. "Neji, as I said, is a very important person to me and although I can't tell you why right now please just respect that and try to understand that I like spending time with him. And Hyuga," he turned back to the other man. "Naruto is like a brother to me and although I've known you longer we've already formed a close bond."

Sasuke sighed and closed his eyes, trying to find the right words to say. He'd never done something like this before and it really put him on the spot. "What I'm trying to say is that you're both a part of me now and I can't have one without the other. If you insist on being like this then at least form a truce whenever I'm around, but if...if you'd just get to know each other I'm sure you'd each understand what I admire about you and maybe then you'd...I dunno, get along. But," he looked over at Naruto and smiled. "It's something you'll have to experience than to just have me tell you about it."

Naruto looked up at his friend and one side of his mouth lifted in a half-smile. He understood what the Uchiha meant and he was determined to try and get along with the irritating Hyuga. Hyuga didn't get the hidden meaning but he supposed he should try to get along with Uzumaki, if he was Sasuke's BEST friend then, as Sasuke said, there must have been something that he saw in the guy that Hyuga didn't.

"Truce?"

Both boys looked at each other before muttering in agreement.

"Good," grinned the mediator before grabbing Neji's arm and dragging him into another room. "We'll be right back, Uzumaki make yourself at home."

"Just don't touch anything," Neji added before he disappeared into a bedroom behind Sasuke.

Sasuke said he could make himself at home but Naruto didn't move from his spot in the chair. Hyuga's place was by far more elegant than Uchiha's and he seemed to prefer lighter pastel colours as opposed to Sasuke and all his damn black. Naruto felt like his very presence was bringing down the room score significantly. He didn't have to wait long because both boys emerged shortly after. Hyuga was now wearing a light-blue polo-shirt tucked into a pair dark-blue jeans which hugged his hips and thighs very snugly and as he walked past Naruto he could see they hugged his ass very nicely too. Grabbing a denim coat from the nearby rack he equipped himself with it then pulled his hair out allowing it to fall around his shoulders.

"Let's get this over with," he was using his regal voice again.

They headed down two flights of stairs before they were met by Shikamaru who was heading in the other direction. "You know, you two sure have gotten noisy since Naruto arrived." Naruto imagined he was trying to be funny but the guy didn't even bother to grin. Sasuke and Neji exchanged a glance then looked over at the lazy tenant.

"Hai Shika! It would appear so. Well, we're heading out so I'll see you later." He turned his gaze back to Neji. "Hyuga, aren't you going to say goodbye to Nara?"

Neji raised one hand then proceeded to give Shikamaru a long view of his middle finger.

Okay, I believe that 'No news is good news' and since I'm not getting many reviews and the rating appears to be good then it means I'm doing something right, right?
