The two blondes stood in the middle of the empty stadium. The lone attendee, Shizune, shifted nervously in her seat as she looked down at the serious pair. An alarmed squeal broke the silence and she looked down into her arms. “I’m sorry Tonton, I didn’t realize I was squeezing you.”
“Are your sure this is what you want Gaki?” Tsunade asked looking over the other blonde for any sign of doubt.
“I’m sure,” Naruto stated seriously but then his face broke into a huge grin. “Now let’s call the crowd.” Still smiling he dashed toward her, his hands flying though the seals. “Kage bushin no jutsu!”
Tsunade shook her head and stood her ground as Naruto and his six clones charged. Always the same techniques with this kid she thought. She built up the chakara in her body and directed it to her leg as she brought it down on the bushin closest to her. But the clone did not dissolve into a puff of smoke as was expected; it exploded! Tsunade was thrown into the air by the force of the explosion. It shook the stadium as the sound cascaded over the village. Tsunade twisted in the air to land on her feet, masked in the smoke the explosion had left behind. Damn. That wasn’t kage bushin it was bushin bakuha! Maybe the kid did have some new techniques.
The call had been made.
Shikamaru, Tamari, Choji, and Ino sat at the Korean BBQ sharing breakfast. Every week the two couples got together and this week it as Choji’s turn to pick the place. Shikamaru sighed as the two blondes chatted away, the got along surprisingly well for the difference in their personalities.
A large explosion sounded as the restaurant shook. Three of the nin jumped to their feet as Choji continued to munch on his pork. The group ran quickly to the door until they realized Choji was not following.
Ino ran back to her husband, “Come on Choji, we have to see what caused that explosion!”
“Ino. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” he stated seriously before reaching for another piece of meat.
She looked to Shikamaru for help and he shook his head. They weren’t going to move Choji until he was finished. “We haven’t seen any signals in the sky, so it’s probably no big deal.” He shoved his hands into his pockets and moved to the door slower than before. “We’ll go on ahead and let you know.”
Ino watched as they left and plopped back down next to her husband. Really, sometimes there was just no living with the man.
Tamari and Shikamaru poofed into the stadium stands and looked down into the smoke filled arena. “I didn’t know there was an event scheduled today,” Tamari said looking over at Shikamaru.
“Neither did I,” he said looking into the smoke. “But obviously there is. I can see movement, and do you feel that chakara?” He looked around to see other shinobi had come to the same conclusion. Many were relaxed in their seats waiting for the smoke to clear, while others leaned over the rails anticipating the action the air was promising.
Gasps filled the stadium when four Uzumakis appeared kicking the Hokage into the air above the smoke line. A fifth Naruto appeared raising his leg high to kick Tsunade back down. But before his leg could connect with her stomach the gasps turned into cheers, as Tsunade punched Naruto in the gut. The stunned blonde flew backward, slamming into the arena wall before falling back down into the smoke.
“What the hell is that dobe doing?” asked Sasuke, who had appeared next to Shikamaru.
“No clue. I thought you’d know, being his best friend and all,” Shikamaru answered as he watched Tsunade touch down into a tree. She looked down into the smoke getting ready to defend herself from whatever was to come next.
Naruto’s loud voice erupted from inside the smoke, “Daitoppa no jutsu!” It was Tsunade turn to meet with the wall as the large blast of air cleared the smoke and blew her out the tree with great force. Before she smashed into it she forced chakara into her feet propelling herself away from the wall.
Tsunade landed in time to see Naruto beginning to charge. She lowered her arms to her side and met him half way. Naruto jumped into a roundhouse kick but before he could make contact, BOOM! The area one square meter around them exploded.
Shikamaru grabbed the railing and looked down, “Kekkai Houjia! She must have set it in the smoke.” He searched the stadium, “But where did she go now?”
Tsunade looked down from her position in the tree. Great, more smoke. That Kekkai Houjin had been too easy to setup. Naruto better have some more tricks up his sleeve or he really wasn’t going to win this challenge.
A small poof could be heard in the smoke and Tsunade tossed some kunai toward the sound. There was a sound of the kunai hitting something hard, followed by a dull thud as they fell to the ground. Naruto’s voice rang out once again, “Kamaitachi no jutsu!” A large whirlwind plucked Tsunade out of the tree and raised her into the air. The Hokage let out a scream of pain as the sharp winds sliced into her skin.
The smoke had been blown away by the technique and everyone stood dumbfounded at the sight of Uzumaki Naruto standing with a large fan behind his back.
“Tamari, is that your fan?” asked her shocked husband.
She smirked and replied, “Look again Shika.” The group looked down to see the fan was indeed the size of Tamari’s, but in the place of the purple stars there were three orange whirlpools. “I gave that to him for his birthday.”
“But that was only two months ago! How did he learn to use it that fast?” Sasuke grumbled on her other side.
“He’s a quick study and a good student, especially with that Kage bushin no jutsu of his. He knows all my techniques now,” she beamed with a bit of pride for her ‘student’ as she liked to think of him. He was one of the few people who easily befriended her when she had married the Nara. Most still saw her as a Hidden Sand nin and not a kunoichi of the Hidden Leaf.
Naruto jumped onto the fan and it raised him into the air so he was even with Tsunade in the whirlwind. Standing on the fan he pulled his leg back for a roundhouse. The kick connected and Tsunade flew to the other side of the stadium. He followed on the fan and when he jumped off it disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Tsunade raised herself and staggered to her feet. The boy had make good use of Konoha’s newest citizen, which was some smart thinking. She steadied herself as Naruto took a fighting stance. Apparently it was time for some taijutsu.
Kiba ran in breathlessly to stand beside Sasuke. “So it’s true!” he exclaimed as he looked down at the two blondes engaged on the field.
“What’s true?” the three asked in unison.
“Naruto challenged the Hokage,” he deadpanned handing Sasuke the notice he had been carrying. Sasuke looked over the paper before paling and passing it to Tamari.
“Challenge?” she asked. “You mean for the position of Hokage?” she passed the paper down to Shikamaru. The roar of murmurs grew around the stadium as others brought in and passed around the notices that had been dropped by carrier bird in the village.
At that moment Naruto had managed to penetrate the Hokage’s impervious defenses with a well-placed sidekick, sending the blonde woman flying. A hush covered the crowd as she rolled to a stop several yards from Naruto. Sasuke squeezed his eyes shut as he gripped the railing. ‘This is it,’ he thought. ‘This is the part where they rush in to beat up my dobe. Or worse, kill him for committing treason!’ Sasuke’s head flew up and he opened his eyes at the unexpected sound of… Cheering?
Sasuke looked around the stadium to see several shinobi sanding and cheering for the blonde male. “Uzumaki!” “Go Naruto-san!” Some Sasuke could recognize as people who had worked on missions with Naruto. Others were apparently people who had fallen for the Uzumaki charm; quite a few were kunoichi. The stadium erupted in friendly encouragement for both sides. Sasuke sat down in a huff and crossed his arms in apparent disinterest before someone noticed his legs were shaking.
“Interesting development, right Uchiha?” inquired Shikamaru as he smirked at the raven over his shoulder.
“Hn.”
The two blondes huffed as they stared at each other across the stadium. Tsunade winced as she gripped her side, how did that boy manage to have claws when she didn’t see any sign of the fox’s chakara. Naruto gripped his shoulder as the blood ran down his arm, dripping in a staccato on the ground. This fight had been going on for hours. If they didn’t end this soon one of them might faint from blood loss.
Damn medical hands, thought Naruto. He could see that Tsunade was closing her cuts with the same green hand that had sliced though his arm. Might as well make the most of the blood, he thought. Naruto slowly brought his hands together and made the necessary signs. “Kage bushin no justu.” Two appeared and ran to place themselves on the left of the Hokage.
Tsunade positioned herself to look at the clones and the real Naruto. What was up that boys sleeve now? Surely he knew two clones were going to do him little good. Tsunade smirked; maybe the boy’s reputed endless chakara was really running low.
“Otoko no ko Doushi, henge!”
“Otoko?” What is that boy… “Ahhh!”
“Naruto nii-san!” Konohamaru exclaimed suddenly appearing between Kiba and Tamari. “Go Naruto! That’s my technique,” he bragged to the group.
Half of the present kunoichi fell backwards from blood loss as the scene taking place at the Hokage’s left. The two clones had henged into a very naked Sasuke and Sai. And were currently in the process of make-out on the field, in front of the nearly entire population of Konoha shinobi!
Konohamaru, who was too busy bragging about creating said technique, did not see Sasuke’s hand coming toward his face until it was too late. Kiba caught the teenager before he fell over the railing and sprawled him in the seat two over from the Uchiha. He was not going to look pretty tomorrow.
Tsunade was jolted out of her shocked stupor when she heard Naruto yell, “Now Gamakichi!” Too late! Tsunade found herself wrapping in the tongue of the five-foot tall frog. She cried out as the orange amphibian squeezed so tight she could feel her arms and more than a couple of ribs breaking.
Naruto winced when he heard her cry of pain. He had to end this now. Standing up from his place on Gamakichi’s back, he brought back his fist and ran down the frog’s tongue toward the other blonde. “This is it!” he yelled as he brought his fist as hard as he could to connect with Tsunade’s jaw.
Tsunade’s head flew backward and Gamakichi disappeared in a puff of smoke. Naruto tapped down on his feet as the Hokage landed onto her back. The crowd hushed as Naruto stood, dripping blood, watching the female for movement.
“I did it!” the battered blonde yelled as he raised his hands into the air. Applause filled the air and Naruto looked up into the stands. “They’re cheering for me,” he mumbled with a small smile as his eyes rolled back into his head. Naruto swayed backward and his heels came off the ground before he landed hard on his back. The two unconscious blondes were quickly surrounded by ANBU as the stadium once again became silent. Sasuke stood quickly to jump down into the field. But the ANBU members were gone as quickly as they had come, taking both blondes with them.
