I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Chapter 10
(this is going to be the last chapter I do for the main story for a bit, I’m going to work on my anniversary gift to my fiancée, and make a couple of side stories to this one. Don’t worry; I have something special planned for an act 3. Also, my fiancée is doing well after her emergency room visit, so I can concentrate on writing {and I’m so glad she’s ok.})

Chapter 10: Internal Darkness and the Power of Love
“The first thing I have to ask is why Hinata argued with me like that,” Hiashi asked, sipping the tea the nurse had brought in. Naruto smiled, “it was a mild shock to me too. I didn’t think she was going to attack you, much less yell and scream at you.” Hiashi took another sip of his tea, looking at the bandages on his hands from some of the Chakra burns he had received from that one attack, “so, why did she do it?” Naruto sat there for a second, smiling a bit, “well, when we left the Hokage’s office that day, she was pretty upset. And after we got home from talking to my ‘trainers,’ she took the Kunai she was struck with from what seems like forever ago, and she told me…” and Naruto began his story.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Naruto-kun, why would you want to fight my father?” Hinata was looking at the sharp knife, thinking that something like this would be used in the fight between her father and her boyfriend. “Why are you asking me again?” Naruto replied, knowing she had already asked him before. She turned around and looked at him, as her eyes started to tear up; Naruto sighed and sat on their bed, patting his hand on a spot next to him, and Hinata sat next to Naruto. “He was telling you to come back to the Hyuga compound, telling us that I wasn’t worthy of being anywhere in the village with you,” Naruto was really upset, but calmed down for her, “I accepted, but that doesn’t mean I want to hurt him, even if he is being a bit ignorant.” “You don’t want to hurt him?” She was confused; if he really didn’t then why agree to fight at all? “No, he is still your father,” he sighed, wrapping his arms around his mate, “but, on the same breath, if the worst does happen, I’d rather die then see you in harms way again,” he lightly pulled at the knife in her hand, and then she realized that he wasn’t doing it for himself at all, he was fighting for her sake, risking it all to protect her. “I think I need to have a word with my father,” she looked rather mad, holding the kunai much tighter then she was only moments ago. Naruto took her hand and kissed it, asking her why? “Because,” she was in tears, but wiped them off, “that’s exactly what my mother taught me to do before she passed away, and I think he needs a good reminder of that.” Naruto hugged his girlfriend, placing his hand on the back of her head; she nuzzled into his chest. “It’s okay Hinata-chan, I’ll always be here for you,” He said, kissing her forehead, and she gave him a hug (being careful not to hurt him with the knife.) They kissed, and she was off for her little ‘chat’ with her father.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hiashi took another sip of his tea, and stared looking into the cup. “Her mother would have liked you Naruto, she would be happy that someone would be there to strengthen Hinata, as well as guide her to be confident,” Hiashi’s words were very powerful in the young Chunnin’s mind. “What was her mother like?” Naruto asked, and Hiashi took another sip, remembering his wife’s peaceful smile. “She was very shy and quiet when I met her, but she was kind and thoughtful, only becoming angry or violent when someone she cared about was in trouble,” the old man started crying a bit, the memories were a little hard to bring up for him. “She would have sacrificed herself to protect her daughters or myself,” Naruto smiled. “I bet she was just as beautiful as Hinata,” said Naruto, and Hiashi nodded. “It’s what Hinata said that had actually bothered me the past 2 months, because of what her mother was like,” Hiashi his last sip of his tea, and began to talk about his training and torment.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hiashi was waiting for Tsunade to come to the Hyuga compound, for he was not getting any sleep. For the last week or so, he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about what his daughter had said that one fateful day. *Has that boy pushed her to be like her mother?* he thought, he had been on edge due to his lack of sleep. Tsunade entered the great hall, where he saw Hiashi, half asleep, sitting in the middle of the meditation area. “Hiashi, you look awful,” Tsunade was worried, but not surprised; she could hear Hinata all the way from the Hokage’s office that night. *Man, talk about taking her words to heart, he looks like he’s about to collapse.* Hiashi told her about the past week, and she pulled out a bottle out of her sleeve. “Take 3 drops of this with some water or hot tea before you head to bed, and Hiashi, try to take it easy, ok?” Tsunade knew this would at least help the poor man get some rest. Hiashi half nodded, and took the bottle, walking to his bedroom for a long nap.
Hiashi was feeling much better after a couple of days, and was in full training mode. Sunagakure idea for using sand based dummies to fight instead of wooden ones were a large improvement to Hiashi, giving him the freedom to hit to his heart’s content without feeling tired or sore, and they were sturdier and better designed then the wooden counterparts. Hiashi had managed to hit all the spots of the large canvas doll before his day was over a thousand times over. He had enough for the day, and was heading back to his room, when he started to remember what had happened that night. *If he leaves, she’ll just follow, but if I lose, I will have failed her,* he thought as he took 3 drops of his medicine and poured it into is tea, drinking it all before he went to sleep. This was the daily ritual for Hiashi until the day of the fight, train on 1 or more dummies, think about that night, and take his medicine. *I just hope she can forgive me,* was usually his last thought before he passed out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto patted his soon to be father-in-law on the back gently, “She doesn’t hate you, she was just concerned for me, that’s all.” Hiashi nodded, hoping that the Blonde was right in his words. “So,” Hiashi asked, looking straight at Naruto, “about your fight with the Kyuubi…” Naruto looked down, staring at his own chest. “Fighting your own demons is tough, fighting a full powered demon inside of you, however, is a lot more difficult,” Naruto groaned, as he began the long story of his ‘scars.’
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto was deep in the recesses of his mind, looking for the Kyuubi to ‘keep him under control’ *Easier said then done, this bastard was tough enough to outlive my father,* Naruto thought, but his thoughts echoed in here, traveling deep into the all the corners of his mind. Neji got him to learn how to meditate, and gave him advice, but he wasn’t sure how on earth he was going to pull this off or if it would work at all. The Kyuubi was a part of him, and had much more power and energy then any ninja ever to live. He found the Gate that held the ferocious beast, and he walked in slowly, ready for this asshole to come out. The Kyuubi formed in front of him, grinning like the sick monster he was, “WHAT DO YOU WANT BOY?!” the beast snarled. Naruto glared and said, “I want to make a deal with you, either you can only appear when I need healing and giving me Chakra, or, I’m going to beat your ass the way my father should have.” The Kyuubi laughed, “SO, YOU THINK YOU CAN ORDER ME AROUND? DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH!” Naruto had clones appear everywhere, just by thinking of them, “please, now just whose body do you think you are in?” Naruto started to giggle. The Kyuubi attacked the clones, as well as Naruto, blasting them with a massive amount of fire energy. Naruto got burned, but he was fine, “is that the best you can do, you overgrown, mutant fleabag?” The monster charged at him, but a wall of clones appeared in between the 2, stopping the nine-tailed fox to stop in its tracks. “It’s useless Kyuubi, I make the rules in this body,” Naruto chuckled a bit more, but suddenly, a large claw tore through the wall and struck the ninja across the chest, leaving 3 very big burn marks from his shoulders to his waist. Naruto got up, and the Kyuubi stomped on him, “I THINK YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR PLACE, BOY,” the beast roared, but Naruto was standing on its nose now, ‘Greater Rasengan’ in hand. He struck the beast, making another in his other hand, and hitting him again. Naruto continued this cycle until the Kyuubi was unconscious.
“THAT LITTLE BASTARD,” the Kyuubi roared, it had the biggest headache from all of the blows that he took from the son of his enemy. “So, you gonna stay out of things, or am I gonna have to come back in there?” Naruto asked, standing just outside of the gate. The beast looked at him, knowing he was defeated, “FINE, BUT DON’T COME CRYING TO ME WHEN YOU’RE ABOUT TO DIE AND YOU NEED JUST THAT LITTLE BIT OF POWER,” the creature turned around and walked into the far back of its ‘cell.’
Neji was glad to see Naruto awake after the damage he took, Shizune, Sakura and Ino were healing his wounds for fear that Naruto would die. “Well, I’m glad that’s over and done with,” Naruto said passing out again from the immense pain he had.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ok, one last thing though,” Hiashi took a sip of the second tea that the nurse had brought him. “Yes, what is it?” Naruto asked, knowing what the next question was going to probably be. “If you went though all of that, and your training, and you didn’t want to hurt me, then why didn’t you open the 7 gates first?” Hiashi asked, trying to figure out why he didn’t just end it in the beginning. Naruto laughed, “well, would you have had a change of heart if I just ended it quickly, or would you still be a stubborn ass and not realize what I’ve done to be with your daughter?” Hyuga Hiashi looked at the 17 year old boy, and could swear he could see Minato standing before him just now. He took another sip of his tea and looked at his bandages, “well, I guess you should start planning for your wedding,” and both men started to laugh.

(As I said, Act 3 will come in a while, but in the meantime, I will write a few little one-shots about other couples in this series. Not to mention making a story to honor my anniversary to my fiancée {November 6th is our one year anniversary.} This story will resume when I feel ready to take the rest of this on, so stay tuned for the next exciting installment.)
