Chapter 10
Once Naruto and Sasuke dried themselves off, and dressed themselves in some of Sasuke’s clothing, the two proceeded into the living room to sit on the couch. Naruto knew what he had to do, but he was still uncomfortable about re-counting what had happened at his old job. Sasuke sensed Naruto’s apprehension, and took Naruto’s hand in his reassuringly.
Naruto took a deep breath and started to tell Sasuke about what had occurred...
~Flashback~
It was Monday morning and Naruto woke at 6:30 as he always did when he had to work. He didn’t like mornings, but today he was actually excited to go in, because today was the day he had been waiting for, for the last 3 months.
Today he was going to find out if he was being promoted. He had been told 3 months earlier that he was being looked at for the promotion, and was confident that he was going to be getting it. He knew that he had compotation though, by the name of Haruno Sakura.
Naruto had nothing against her, in fact if she ended up getting the promotion, he was ok with that, ya he would be a little disappointed, but he would not be angry with her. He actually really like Sakura, she was really pretty, and he had thought about asking her out, but he didn’t have the nerve to do it. He would occasionally talk to her in the lunch room, but never more than that.
She on the other hand, always seemed to look at him as if he was contaminated with some sort of disease. He really didn’t understand her. He looked at the clock and the microwave and saw that it was time for him to head in to the office. He grabbed his keys, his wallet, and his briefcase, and headed down the stairs to his car.
When he got into work, he sat at his desk and turned his computer on. It was no long before his boss Orochimaru walked up to him.
“Good morning Orochimaru-san.”
“Good morning Naruto, now pack your things.” To say that Naruto was a little taken aback by his boss statement, was an understatement.
“But Orochimaru...” He started but never got the chance to finish because his boss had cut him off.
“You’re moving into your own office today.” Orochimaru offered watching the play of emotions on Naruto’s face.
“You mean...” A nod was all the blond received before he jumped up from his chair with his fist held above his head.
“Thank you!”
“You deserve this Naruto, you have worked hard, and proven that you are the right person for the position.” With that said Orochimaru turned and walked into his office.
Naruto grabbed his things and made a bee line for his new office so that he could place everything just the way that he wanted it. He hadn’t even gotten a chance to sit yet, when he heard a familiar voice from his doorway.
“I should have been the one to get the promotion not a poor little shit like you.” Came the heated remark.
Naruto turned to see Sakura standing in the door of his office glaring daggers at him.
“This office will be mine Uzumaki, you’ll see.” With that she stormed off and back to her desk. Naruto just stared for a few moments then went back to what he was doing, thinking all the while that some people really needed to get a life.
A few days passed and Naruto was starting to get comfortable in his new position. He was sitting at his desk working on the summary reports that Orochimaru had given him yesterday. Al of a sudden, he heard his office door open, and saw police officers entering his office.
“Hello officers, to what do I owe the pleasure?” Naruto asked beginning to stand at his desk. Just them one of the officers came up behind him, and pinned him face first on his desk, with his arms behind him, placing handcuffs around his wrists.
“Wh...what is going ON!?” Naruto asked his voice rising in panic.
“Uzumaki Naruto you are under arrest for the sexual assault of one Miss Haruno Sakura.” One of the officers near the door said.
“WHAT!” Naruto screamed, not understanding what was happening.
“Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you cannot afford one, one will be provided for you by the state.” The officer continued, but Naruto had stopped listening, he was in too much shock to even speak. ‘What is going on?’ He thought to himself as he was being escorted from his offices.
The whole building was watching as he was escorted to the elevators, and then escorted from the building into the awaiting police car. Everything seemed to happening in slow motion, and he just sat in the car as it drove away.
When they arrived at the police station, he was brought into one of the interrogation rooms where he was left to sit in silence, and wait for what was to happen. It wasn’t long however before the door to the room opened to let the officer that had read him his rights to enter the room with a clip board in hand.
‘He doesn’t really look like a sexual predator.’ The officer thought as he took a seat across from the blond. ‘but then again that girl certainly looked like she was beaten quite bad by someone.’ His thoughts continued. He knew he had to start questioning the boy on his activities that day, but he still had trouble believing this man was anything other than the scared individual he appeared to be.
“I am going to ask you some questions, and I want you to answer them honestly.” The officer began. “Where were you today at 10:30 this morning?”
“In my office, working on the summary reports, same as I was doing when you came in.” Naruto replied looking at the officer, not understanding what was happening.
“So you didn’t go into the supply closest?”
“I did a little earlier, I needed to get some more black pens, mine were out of ink.”
“Was there anyone else in the supply closest with you?” The officer continued.
“No, I was there alone, I took the pens, then went right back to my office to finish what I was doing.”
“So you never saw Miss Haruno at all this morning?”
“No, I didn’t even think that she had come in, she had called in sick the last few days. Actually she had left early on Monday, shortly after having heard that I had gotten the promotion.”
“So you and her were up for the same position?”
“Yes, and she came to my office, and said that I didn’t deserve the promotion, and that my office would be hers.”
“So she threatened your position in the company.”
“I guess, but that doesn’t mean that I would assault her! She hates me, and has made a point of letting me know whenever she gets the chance!” Naruto was really trying to keep himself together, but was having trouble, he just didn’t know what to do, he was scared.
“Thank you Mr. Uzumaki.” With that the officer stood and left the room, leaving Naruto alone to think.
By the end of the day Naruto had been questioned two more times, and had even been shown pictures of what he had supposedly done to Sakura. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing, he hadn’t even spoken to the pink haired girl that day, and now he was being accused of sexually assaulting her at work no less. They had decided that they were going to keep for the night while evidence was still being acquired.
When he was placed in the holding cell, and left alone, he sank to the floor and started to cry. After the first day he was realised, and went back to the company, and retrieved his belongings. Everyone glared at him, or turned away from him, some of the women, even ran the other way. When he got to his office, he saw that his things were already packed into a box, and Orochimaru was sitting behind his once desk.
“I am surprised at Uzumaki, I never would have thought you possible of such an act.” Orochimaru spat, Naruto just stood there unable to even look at his former boss, he couldn’t believe that this was happening to him. “Don’t you have anything to say!”
“I just came to get my things, and you will never see me again.” Naruto answered tears were starting to sting his eyes, he needed to get his things and leave.
“Hmph.” With that Orochimaru stepped away from the stuff, and Naruto grabbed it and never looked back.
Once home he stood in his apartment, and thought about everything that had happened, and new that he no longer had a future, his whole life had been stripped away from him, and he was so depressed that all he wanted to do was to drown his pain. He grabbed his jacket and headed to the club near his place, and began his ritual of trying to forget everything.

By the time Naruto had finished recounting what had occurred a mere 3 weeks ago, he was in tears, he hated having to relive it, and he knew that it wasn’t over, he still had court to go through, and the police were always keeping track of him.
Sasuke held him as he cried, stroking his hair affectionately, and murmuring in his ear that everything was going to be ok, that he believed Naruto was innocent, and that he was going to help him anyway he could. They stayed like that for a long time, Naruto holding on to Sasuke like he was the only thing keeping him in this world, and was beginning to believe he was, for if Sasuke ever left him, he knew he would not stay in this world for much longer after that.
