Chapter 11
AN: ^^; I really hope this doesn’t come off too lamely.... Also, there was about a two month break since I wrote this, and the last chapter, and I got more used to Deidara using unn, than yeah. I switched them without even noticing until I copied and pasted it here. So please excuse that. Also, this and the past two chapters are unbeta-ed. Please forgive any typos.
Itachi fiddled with his shirt, restless to implement the plan. Restless and...
“Are you nervous?” Sasuke smiled, stilling Itachi’s hands.
“A little.” For the first time in his life, he was. There was much more riding on this going well than a mission or the honor of a village. Or even his life. This was for Sasuke, so that they were free to enjoy each other by themselves. If this ended badly, Sasuke could die, and he would lose the one thing in his life that made him want to stay.
“Don’t be,” Sasuke kissed his shoulder comfortingly. He wasn’t perfectly calm, but excited to be doing something other than training. Something that would help secure his future with Itachi.
Itachi knocked on Leader’s door, blinking a little as it opened. Usually he would wait by his desk, or the bed. “Come in.” The older man stepped back, looking over the brothers. Sasuke entered first, followed shortly by the older Uchiha who closed the door behind him.
“Nice to see you again, Sasuke.”
“Aa.” Sasuke tilted his head, watching Leader curiously.
“Have a seat, you two,” Leader said as he pointed to the bed. They moved to the bed, Sasuke leaning back on his hands while Itachi sat at a corner, eyes devoid of emotion. “Strip your brother, Itachi.”
That much he had no problem with, even if he disliked having someone other than himself see Sasuke nude. Trying to ignore Leader’s eyes on him, he leaned closer to his brother, teasing over Sasuke’s soft lips with his own. While Sasuke pressed forward in a soft kiss, Itachi unbuttoned his shirt, working slowly, fingers caressing the skin newly exposed by his actions. The younger Uchiha raised his arms to help his brother remove the shirt, discarding it some where on the floor.
“Stand up so I can get your pants off,” he murmured in Sasuke’s ear, flicking his tongue over it. Sasuke did as he was asked, rising slowly from the bed and turning to face his brother, giving Leader a suggestive glance over his shoulder.
The older man raised an eyebrow but remained silent. Apparently they had done this a lot, or the younger brother was as Itachi had described. His dis-ease with the situation slowly dissolved; there wasn’t anything wrong, Itachi had been truthful. Having a pet with a slutty brother was indeed entertaining.
Itachi quickly undid Sasuke’s shorts, hooking his fingers in the waist band of his pants. Before pulling them down, he leaned forward to dip his tongue into his navel. He wanted it over quickly, but he couldn’t appear to be too hasty. Sasuke moaned quietly, one hand sliding into his brother’s hair. The shorts crept down his legs easily, pooling at his feet when Itachi let go of them.
Moving closer to them, Leader looked the boy over. Not too bad, though faint white scars cris-crossed his stomach and thighs. “Lay down on the bed, Sasuke.” The younger Uchiha did as he was told, shaking dark bangs out of his eyes and looking up at them both, moving his legs up a little in mock shyness. Leader’s eyes shifted to Itachi who watched him quietly. It was hard to read the boy normally, but now he was even more blank than usual. To further put Itachi at unease, he touched his cheek and kissed him, smirking against his lips. Itachi didn’t flinch away, but Leader could sense him tense at the action.
Sasuke couldn’t help but clench his fists, pushing himself onto his elbows. He wanted to rip Leader’s head off for kissing his Itachi, but he looked away and tried not to glare at the wall. The rustle of clothing alerted him to Leader undressing, watching him out of the corner of his eyes.
Itachi stood, giving them more room, leaning one shoulder against the bedpost. So close to being done, to ridding themselves of this problem. Of course they would have to hide well, or risk one of their many pursuers finding them. He almost smirked to himself at that thought; together they had the leaf village against them, the sound village, and the Akatsuki after this night. Anyone else would have felt overwhelmed by the thought, Itachi thrived on it.
“Are you sure I can do what I want?”
Blinking, Itachi pulled himself from his thoughts. “Do as you will...”
Leader turned back to Sasuke, eyes glinting with malice. “It’ll be fun to break you.”
“Just try it,” he smirked.
“I broke your brother, didn’t I?” The younger Uchiha ignored him, wincing as his fingers twisted painfully as they sank into his hair. Leader moved between Sasuke’s legs, leaning down to kiss the boy. To his surprise, Sasuke returned the kiss. “Not bad,” he muttered against his lips.
“Not bad?” Sasuke glared at him, pretending to be insulted. “I’m a hell of a lot better than ‘not bad’.”
Itachi snorted, “maybe.”
Sasuke was honestly insulted this time, glaring past Leader at Itachi. Maybe? No sex for a week, then he’ll see if Itachi still thought maybe. He knew there was a chance Itachi was playing along, but he didn’t have to go quite that far.
“That’s cold Itachi,” the older man laughed, leaning down to nip at Sasuke’s neck.
Itachi settled his hands in his pockets, shrugging lightly. “Why lie?”
Stiffening a little, Sasuke glared darkly at his brother. That was unnecessary. Leader was obviously lulled into believing him, Itachi didn’t have to go that far. He began to feel uneasy, his belief in their plan wavering. Itachi stared unemotionally back at Sasuke; he was supposed to be getting ready while Leader busied himself with him. Sasuke knew that making obvious movements would attract his attention, but he wanted to see some sort of sign that Itachi was doing as he said. The unemotional look was starting to unnerve him. There was no way this was all some sort of trick. All those months of planning... Leader didn’t have that sort of power over Itachi... did he?
“I couldn’t believe your brother would hand you over so easily, but then... he’s done worse.”
Ignoring the older man’s actions, Sasuke’s eyes widened at his words. Itachi should have been attacking now, there should have been some sort of sign... Why wasn’t he moving?
“We had one boy here, I think he even fell in love with Itachi. But Itachi only pretended to care then brought him to me... and watched me break him.” Leader sighed against Sasuke’s neck, “he cried so prettily.” Sasuke squirmed as Leader’s hands moved to his thighs. “Something wrong?”
Itachi glared at Sasuke. Of all the times to lose faith in him... Sasuke needed to stick to the plan for everything to work. If he faltered now, and they lost their chance, Itachi... He didn’t know what he would do, but things were slowly coming to mind.
The younger Uchiha flinched at Itachi’s glare, “I...” He hesitated for a moment longer then dropped his eyes, “no.”
Itachi had time to wipe the glare from his face before Leader turned back, watching him carefully. He returned the look cooly, not even batting an eye. They were so close... Leader shrugged and returned his attention to Sasuke’s neck, hands kneading his thigh. Itachi noticed the betrayal in Sasuke’s eyes, and wished he could have done something to comfort his brother. Any movement he made would have been caught, he knew Leader’s depth perception and blind spots, he would have been able to sense an attack coming with his head turned slightly toward.
“A-ahh...” Sasuke shivered, masking it as a pleasure with a soft groan, jaw clenching.
Leader turned his head to lap at the other side of Sasuke’s neck, hands moving lower. Itachi saw his chance, and flicked the kunai he had hidden in his pocket, not waiting for it to strike his target as he started forming the seals. As soon as the blade sunk in, Itachi was finished, activating the jutsu he had imprinted on the blade, paralysis spreading through his body. Or so he hoped. “Sasuke, now!” Itachi hissed, hoping his brother wasn’t too out of it to remember.
Sasuke quickly formed the seals to finish off the jutsu, pressing his fingers into Leader’s chest. The older man hissed and glared at him, but didn’t move. Letting out a breath, Sasuke pushed him away and moved to get up when Leader clutched at his wrist. The last of the man’s strength, he hoped. Sasuke kicked him and jerked his wrist away, getting dressed.
With a final set of signs, the knife blackened, words seeping like ink into Leader’s back. Now that he was finished, Itachi sagged a little at the massive loss of chakra. Sasuke wrapped an arm around his waist, urging him toward the door.
“Come on.”
“Wait,” Itachi glanced back, raising his voice. “It will wear off... but at a single gesture or word from either of us, your paralysis will return. I suggest not trying to find us. The next time you’re incapacitated, I won’t hesitate to kill you.” If he did so now, then someone would want him dead from the Akatsuki. This way, if Leader wanted to, he could order them not to follow, or send the others. The others, he could take. Itachi knew defeating Leader in a fair fight would have been a long stretch.
“We’ll see,” Leader snarled at them, eyes narrowing.
“Let’s get the hell out of here.” Itachi kicked open the door then held out his arm to keep it from swinging back and hitting him. He still had enough strength to run, but there wasn’t time to return to their room. Everything he needed, money and the like, were hidden on him. Once they were down the hall a little more, he hit Sasuke’s arm. “You believed him!”
“Well... you weren’t doing anything! And he said you had done that to someone else...”
“What was I supposed to do, wink at you? He was testing us.” A test Sasuke almost failed, if he hadn’t been kept in check by his brother.
“I’m sorry,” he ran a shaking hand through his hair. Now that it was over, he was both excited and exhausted. “But... did you really do that?”
Itachi knew running would have gained them more attention, but he hurried his step nonetheless. It was awhile before Itachi answered Sasuke’s question, not something he wished to talk about. “I did.”
“Why?”
“Because he didn’t mean anything to me.” He would have guessed Sasuke knew by now that he could be cruel when he wanted to. Sasuke shook his head, moving to one side to let a man pass them. “What?”
“So... how do I know you’re not doing something like that to me? Playing some kind of game?”
“I would have told you I loved you repeatedly. I avoid those words, do I not?”
“Aa,” as much as it pained Sasuke, he couldn’t argue with that logic. Ever since the first and only times while he was drunk, Itachi made it a point to not say anything at all when Sasuke told him that he loved him. Or he would change the subject.
“It was a game Leader wanted me to play along with. Why would I let him hurt me just to string you along?” He was a bit of a masochist from time to time, but not that heavily.
“I know, I believe you now... I just... why would you do that to someone who really cared about you? Give them to Leader, I mean? And enjoy watching him break them.”
“I didn’t enjoy watching it.”
“Then why did you do it?”
Itachi twitched, hoping his avoidance of Sasuke’s other questions would end it. “I didn’t care about him.”
“So you could have ignored him. Why purposely hurt him?”
“I did ignore him. Leader told me told me to do otherwise.”
“...I see.” Sasuke took Itachi’s hand slowly. This wasn’t a place he wanted to see Itachi in, or know any further of the extent of Itachi’s ability to be cruel. “Let’s get out of here.”
“Where’re you going?” Sasuke jerked his head up, staring at Deidara and Kisame in surprise. “You sure are oblivious when you’re around each other, unn. Wouldn’t it be safer to take someone else with you that could watch your back?”
Sasuke raised an eyebrow, “like who?”
“I’ll go.” Kisame stepped forward, smirking.
“You’d leave to help us out?” Itachi knew his partner would back him in a fight, but he didn’t expect him to leave for him.
“Sure,” Kisame shrugged, “we’ve been partners for years, I’m more loyal to you than I am to the Akatsuki. Besides, they were just something to keep me occupied.”
Sasuke looked hesitantly at Itachi, “how do we know we can trust him?”
“I trust him. Is that enough?”
“...Aa.”
“I want to go to.” Deidara nibbled on the edge of his coat. “My artistic talent is being smothered here.” Sasori-danna would understand.
“Fine,” Sasuke sighed, “let’s just go, already.”
“Yes. I rather not be near when the jutsu wears off.” Itachi jerked his head to the left, “everyone that’s going, follow me.” It was a short distance to the door, if people saw them running now it wouldn’t matter. Without looking back at his partner or the blonde, he and Sasuke ran toward the exit.
Kisame glanced back in a short goodbye to the place he had called home for so many years. Itachi and Sasuke were entertaining, and with the rest of the Akatsuki as their enemies, he was sure life wouldn’t be boring. Before Itachi and Sasuke could gain much of a lead, he ran after them.
“Don’t be mad at me, Sasori, unn...” Deidara sighed and followed, pouting a little behind the high collar of his coat. He wished he could have taken Sasori with him, but his partner wouldn’t have wanted to leave anyway.
After running for the rest of the night and into the morning, the group was rightfully tired. Deidara slumped down in a chair with a sigh, crossing his arms over his lap. In an effort to lose their trail, they had taken a route that would appear to be directed toward another village, and ditched their cloaks along that path. As soon as they were off, the group ran and jumped among the trees toward a slightly larger village further away, in almost the opposite direct of the trail they wanted to leave. It wasn’t anything too obvious, their trackers would have noticed that.
“I have the money, I’ll take care of tonight. Stay here,” Itachi took out a small wad of money; he had two, the smaller one for actually paying for things, and a larger one that was their pooled money. If he flashed around town or in front of a hotel keeper a large amount of money, they would have been more noticeable, and Itachi didn’t want to chance someone thinking of robbing them, and being defeated easily. Word of ninja fending off robbers would spread quickly.
“Okay,” Sasuke said tiredly, sitting near Kisame. He watched he brother wander off to pay for their rooms, eyes almost crossing from exhaustion.
“I’m starving, unn...”
“We’ll get something to eat in a bit.” Sasuke mumbled, almost tired enough to lean against Kisame. The blue skinned man’s stomach growled loudly, making both Sasuke and Deidara lean away and stare.
“What?”
“Your stomach is speaking,” Deidara poked Kisame just above his navel.
“I’m hungry.”
“As long as I don’t look like food, then I guess I’m fine, unn...”
Sasuke shook his head, noticing his brother returning to them. He was paler than usual, lips almost white. The younger Uchiha was worried, and hoped a good meal and rest would help. Out of the two of them, the jutsu drained more of Itachi’s chakra, something Sasuke noted earlier with much complaining. Of course Itachi made sense; if they were equally tired, neither would get too far. At least one would be able to haul the other further, if it came to that. It didn’t, though he suspected it should have. Itachi was pushing himself too hard.
Tossing a key at Kisame, Itachi pocketed the other. “I managed to get the rooms that connect with each other. If anything happens, we’ll be able to hear it.”
“Sounds good.” Kisame stood, stretching with a groan.
Deidara stood as well, eyeing Kisame. “We have to feed him, unn. I’m hungry too.”
Itachi didn’t much care if they were hungry, he could have gave them money to eat on their own. “Are you hungry, Sasuke?”
“A little, you?”
“Tired an hungry... let’s eat together then.”
“You don’t have to sound like it’s a chore, unn.”
Sasuke ignored Deidara and stood, taking a hold of Itachi’s arm. He returned the weary smile his brother gave him, leaning his head against Itachi’s shoulder. It was over. Their new life together could start as of now. Nothing was ever that easy, but he didn’t mind whatever else came at them. As long as they were together.
