Well now this is a surprise. I wasn't expecting to be ABLE to update a second time today cause I had movie plans with a friend.

Chapter 11 Neji in Suna

When Neji arrived at Suna and found Naruto and Gaara, they were having dinner with Temari and Kankuro. As soon as they all saw Neji, chopsticks dropped or stopped halfway to an open mouth. It took three seconds for Naruto to break the silence.

"Neji! Why are you here? Is something wrong? Did something happen to Sasuke or Iruka-sensei or-"

Naruto breathed out a sigh of relief, "Then whatcha doing here? Did you just miss Gaara and decide to visit?"

Gaara shot a glare at Naruto but it was diminished due to his excitement at seeing Neji. Neji smiled imperceptibly, "Although I have missed Gaara, I'm here because the Hokage asked me to escort you back to Konoha in the twelfth, among other things."

Gaara spoke up, "Neji sit down and eat, you can finish explaining later."

Neji nodded and sat between Gaara and Naruto. The blond noticed that Neji still had his travel bag with him.

"Neji you want one of Gaara's aides to take your stuff to your room?"

Neji remembered Hinata's gift for Naruto, pulled it out , and handed it to the blond, "Hinata-sama sent this for you, along with a wish for your happiness with Sasuke."

Naruto placed the present in front of himself, peeled the paper away, and opened the box, revealing a set of kunai and shuriken nestled beside custom embroidered pouches for them. The pouches were black and had an entwined wolf and fox embroidered in red and white. The kunai and shuriken were etched with the Uzumaki swirl. Naruto felt a grin stretch across his face. 'She remembered I told her that Sasuke reminds me of a wolf.' The pouches were Hinata's declaration of support for Naruto and Sasuke as well as a birthday gift.

Neji watched Naruto's delight as the blond showed off the gift to Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro, and he marveled at the strength of spirit Naruto had. 'To have been through so much and be treated so badly, yet still be so compassionate, selfless, and excited about life, he's amazing.' Neji felt a hand on his thigh and he looked over at Gaara, who tilted his head in question. Neji covered Gaara's hand with his, silently telling him that he'd explain later.

Gaara stood in the oasis Neji had brought him to, "Why are we here?"
