I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Happenings
Yes I know it is very late and I’m not going to say sorry again. This is perhaps the way it will have to be for now, RL is seriously hitting me over the head repeatedly, and having lost confidence in my writing last year has not helped. But here it is!!! So I hope you enjoy, and thanx to all that reviewed way back whenever that was…
The Turning Away continued
By Fyrbyrd
“Naruto, you’re back from your mission,” said Iruka as he walked home from the Academy, pushing the twins with Masashi holding onto one side and Kaori in the arm not doing the steering.
“Yes. I know you’ve been looking after some orphans since you got Masashi, but how come you have Kaori?”
Iruka stopped and looked at Naruto, “How do you know about her? She wasn’t here before you left on your mission.”
“Oh, I crossed paths with Kakashi-sensei when I was getting some supplies for the squad. He had scared her and I was able to calm her down.”
“Scared her?”
“Yeah, he got a little angry with me, told me to get back on my mission and not hang around him.”
Iruka’s brow creased as he thought about that.
“Anyway seeing her here means he must have gone back after Kabuto.”
“So you know about his hunting Kabuto?” Naruto was going red, and lifted a hand to scratch the back of his head. “We need to talk, Naruto.” Iruka moved on towards his place. Naruto followed behind a bit slower.
He watched as Iruka busied himself putting the twins to bed and feeding the other two before putting them down for a nap. Then he returned to the kitchen to make tea and sat glaring at Naruto to sit.
“Is there something up, Iruka-sensei?”
“Do you know that Lady Tsunade has an alert out on Kakashi?”
“No. Is there a problem?”
“Yes, he needs treatment for a jutsu that was done to him.”
“The one that Kabuto put on him?”
Iruka’s eyes widened, “He told you about that?”
“Um, yes. He told me that after he got angry with me. The whole story.”
“Really…Did you leave him?” Iruka’s tone had not changed from the hard line he had started with.
“Well, ah, yeah.”
“When he asked you to?” Naruto had gone completely red. Through gritted teeth, Iruka went on, “Did you have sex with him?”
Naruto’s head fell as he felt shamed, all he could do was nod, he was not able to lift his head to meet Iruka’s eyes.
“Naruto this is important,” continued Iruka, his voice tight and angry, “Were you on top and did he say anything afterwards?”
“I was…I was…on top. He seemed to be better afterwards. He wasn’t able to stop himself…It was like he raped me at first, but he told me to go away and I didn’t. After the first time, I kinda…liked it.”
There was silence for quite some time, then, “Did he tell you why he felt better?”
“What do you mean?”
Iruka sighed heavily, an angry sigh, though it really was not directed at Naruto. Kakashi had not told him of the consequences.
“Naruto, I’m not angry at you. You didn’t know about Kakashi’s…situation. I’m not angry that you slept with him, but there will be some--fallout--from this.”
“Fallout?”
“Don’t worry about it right now. Come, give me a hand, the kids will be awake soon and I haven’t put everything away or cleaned up.”
Iruka’s change in mood and subject pulled Naruto out of thinking about what had been said.
“Ah, you won’t tell Granny Tsunade about what I did?”
“Oh I won’t tell her, she’d kill him this time.”
“This time?”
It was Iruka’s turn to blush, but he was glad that Naruto was not looking his way. “She didn’t want him going after Kabuto after all he had already been through, that’s why she made the blocker to help him. But he just wouldn’t give up on finding Kabuto.”
Naruto nodded, “I hope he does. He must feel terrible about that happening to him.”
“You don’t know that half of it,” muttered Iruka.
“Huh?”
“Oh nothing.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole word felt tense at the moment, Kakashi knew that there was a lot going on around him, but he had a mission to complete, he had to find Kabuto. He stopped to camp, he was tired and he needed rest more often, he knew why.
As he sat beside his campfire, he felt a strong chakra coming straight at him and he knew he had no chance to avoid a meeting with them.
“I heard you were looking for me,” came a voice from the shadows of the forest around him.
He stood up gasping, “Kabuto.”
“Didn’t expect me, did you? You forgot that I have marked you”
“Why did you abandon Kaori?”
“I was…having a few problems of my own. She was too much of a liability, so I found her a home. I would have gone back for her eventually.”
“I have her, and I won’t let you have her back.”
Kabuto laughed, “Oh I’ll take her back…when I want to. Anyway, as to our business here, I have come to get you to stop following me.”
“All I want is a reverse of the jutsu you did on me.”
“In your current condition, that would be impossible. Who’s the father? I can feel a strong aura from it already.”
“Then after the child is born I will meet you anywhere, I just want this to end.”
“Oh no, no, that is not how it works. I did that to you because you deserved having your arrogant butt kicked and kicked hard. There is no way I would ever reverse it. I want you to suffer, and you do don’t you? You can’t help yourself, you have to get fucked just to stop the urges, but they keep coming back, until of course you get pregnant. How many is it now? Four?”
Kakashi moved to attack, but a rearing snake stopped him. “I wouldn’t try it; you’re not strong enough anymore to handle me. That was another aspect of the revenge I planned on you, this jutsu has stopped you from advancing, and don’t try and say it hasn’t, I can feel it. You are the same as you were when we last met. I on the other hand have greatly expanded my powers, and you have a child to protect. Don’t worry, we will meet again. I guarantee it,” and with that he jutsued away.
Kakashi clutched his hands in frustration. He too knew there was no way he could take on Kabuto now. He lay his hand on his lower stomach where the womb Kabuto had given him lay, sheltering his latest child, Naruto’s baby.
What was he going to do now? He thought as he sat down at his camp. It wouldn’t be too much longer than the baby would be showing. If he went home at least one person would be suspicious, and then there was the Hokage, she would know he had not come to her for the blocker. She would know that he had to have either found a way around it or done something stupid, which he had.
And then there was Naruto. The kid was no longer a kid, approaching nineteen and unknowingly about to become an unwilling father… Well, he had enjoyed the sex, but he had no idea of what it would lead to, unlike Kakashi, who knew but couldn’t stop himself… Shit, shit, shit…
He sighed heavily; he needed to know what was going on anyway. He was close to Suna; perhaps he could learn something from their allies.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
He had made it to Suna with no trouble, and soon found himself about to have an audience with the Kazekage himself.
“Kakashi Hatake, are you aware your Hokage has an alert out on you?” was the first thing Gaara said to him.
“I figured as much.”
“Do you wish me to let her know where you are?”
“Well, if it’s at all possible, I’d rather she did not know where I am at present.”
“Are you in trouble?”
“You could say that.”
Gaara nodded, “Then why the visit here?”
“I wanted to hear the latest. You can sense the tension in the air, just about.”
“The Akatsuki are on the move again, it is believed they have collected seven of the tailed beasts by now. No one knows for what purpose still.”
“Lord Kazakage, I am seeking a private place to train, I need to strengthen myself for what is to come.”
“Why here?”
“I have a problem that I do not wish to be known, and yet because of it, I also need to be close to medical facilities.”
Gaara took in what he said, then nodded, he would ask no questions.”Very well, I will have Baki help you out in this.”
“Thank you, Lord Kazakage.”
Again Gaara nodded as Kakashi left his office.
He was led to some guest rooms and later had a meeting with Baki to outline his needs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kakashi was able to get some training in. It was not physical training; it was more training of his Sharingan. Kabuto’s taunting had at least had the effect of getting him to do something, and he was more than surprised at what he was able to do.
He was relaxing in a bath when he had a visitor.
“You seem to be developing a pot belly,” remarked Baki as he looked down at the Leaf Jounin.
Kakashi jumped, he had gotten too relaxed to notice the other’s arrival. He was lucky the face cloth did not fall off and he was able to keep his face covered.
“Comes with age, I suppose,” said Kakashi trying to make light of it.
“Gaara told you about the Akatsuki?”
“He said it is believed they have seven of the tailed beasts?”
“So you were paying attention. He died when Shukaku was taken from him. If it weren’t for our Lady Chiyo giving her life to him, we would have lost him. Your student helped rescue him.”
Kakashi nodded; sure that Naruto would have done anything to help Gaara.
“Anyway, I didn’t come here to shoot the breeze. I have news; your Sannin Jiraiya has been killed by the Akatsuki.”
It felt like a sword had stabbed him with the news. He closed his eye and nodded again, “Please inform Lord Kazekage that I will be returning to my village temporarily.”
“Temporarily?”
“I will go only to pay my respects. In my current… state, I am not useful to them. Yet if I remain, they will not allow me time to train. If that is allowable?”
“The Kazekage respects you, he was informed that you were taken by the snake Sannin and imprisoned for several years. You are lucky to have survived. We had several of our people taken and all we recovered was their mutilated bodies.”
“I don’t particularly feel lucky about surviving.”
Baki knew the captives were abused in the prison, which meant Kakashi had not escaped that either. Perhaps that was why he needed medical attention and he did not seem the powerful ninja his reputation said he was. “We will await your return then.”
After Baki left, Kakashi lifted himself from the water and went to change. He would have to think of a suitable disguise to return home.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto had taken Jiraiya’s death hard. Iruka was finding it difficult to reach him, but he had persevered and succeeded in bringing him partly out of his funk. Jiraiya had left behind a message that was proving difficult to decipher. Shikamaru had a copy of it, and in disguise Kakashi decided to follow and see what was going on. Shikamaru looked at him once with a strange frown on his face, but then he moved on into a familiar neighborhood. At first when Kakashi realized where Shikamaru was headed he was a little reluctant to follow, but he wanted to know about the cipher that had everyone puzzled. When Shikamaru came out, he was not alone and Kakashi felt the urge to run in the opposite direction, until he saw where Shikamaru was leading Naruto and got the shock of his life. There walking towards them was a very pregnant Kurenai. Kakashi put his hand down over his own bulge, so that was why the look from Shikamaru. He had henged to look like a pregnant woman. So, Asuma had left a legacy behind, it was not the only thing he had learned on return to the village, that Asuma had been killed by the Akatsuki. Whatever Shikamaru said to Naruto seemed to bring his spark all the way back and then he showed Naruto the cipher. They went to the Cipher Corps, and he could not resist going with them. Outside the window he listened to what was going on, especially about Naruto’s discovery, and suddenly he knew the answer they were looking for. Henging back to himself he stood up and revealed his battered copy of Make Out Tactics. Keeping the wall between them and himself he was able to help them solve the puzzle. Not once did any of them find it unusual for him to be there. Oh course, once Naruto mentioned going to Tsunade, Kakashi quickly made himself scarce. He watched until he saw Naruto leave with the toads, before turning back towards Suna. Kakashi remembered the last war, it seemed the same thing was about to come again. He needed to get stronger, he only hoped the child would come before then, or it might not have a future at all.
