The Talk

Hyuuga Hiashi and family had arrived in the late afternoon just as predicted. Neji had walked Ten Ten home where she was to wait for him to show up later. Neji and Hinata joined the family for dinner as they had usually done. Most of the conversation was about the recent trip Hiashi and his wife had taken. After dinner, Hinata cleared the table and scurried off with her mother and sister to take care of the dishes and laundry from the trip. This was their excuse to leave Hiashi and Neji to themselves.

“ Neji, sit; have a drink with me.” Hiashi said to his nephew. It was at this point Neji became slightly nervous for reasons of which he was uncertain. Hiashi poured Neji a dish of sake. “This bottle is a little emptier, yes?” Hiashi said, with no particular inflection in his voice. Maybe Neji was reading into things a bit much.

“Yes, sir; I did have some while you were away.” Hiashi smiled.

“I don’t mind, it’s the best sake there is, you should have it.” Hiashi took a drink and reached into his pocket. He lay before Neji on the table eight little brown bobby pins. Neji’s eyes grew wide. “Damn, he’s good. So, how the hell has Hinata hidden from him as long as she has?” Neji wondered to himself. Neji felt his heart race, he didn’t know if Hiashi were going to rip him to pieces…or shred him to pieces. Hiashi took another drink.
“What about her? Did she like the sake? Again hiashi’s voice had no particular inflection, no ‘Neji I’m going to kick your ass out of this house’ tone, no ‘Neji you sorry ass bastard what the hell do you think you’re doing’ tone; just Hiashi’s normal, calm voice. “Hell might as well be honest with him.” Neji thought.
“She did. She had never tasted it before.” Neji took a nervous sip.
“I remember the first time your aunt tasted plum sake.” Hiashi was spinning his dish around.

“Oh…shit…” Neji thought. “Please, oh please. Hiashi, don’t tell me about the time you got lucky with my aunt.” Neji silently prayed. Hiashi smiled.

“Her lips turned a perfect shade of pink.”

“He knows…he knows…he knows…he knows…” Neji said over and over to himself.

“Neji. Let me tell you something. Whatever you do, make certain that you never hurt her. The moment you break her heart, is the moment you will lose her forever; and Neji, there’s nothing worse than being a hollow shell of a man.” Hiashi took another drink.

“Okay, this isn’t going where I thought it was.” Neji thought still sipping nervously. “I would never hurt her, Hiashi-sama.” He said. His uncle peered at him with thoughtful eyes, eyes as white as his nephews.

“Good, because if I ever discover that you make her cry, or make her feel badly about her self, or treat her like a slave, or so much as even think of laying an aggressive hand on her…Neji I’ll give you a beating you’ll never forget.” Hiashi was sincere.

“I would never do any of those things to her. Neji knew that Hiashi learned the hard way, nearly losing his wife after he had told her she was useless; Hiashi learned he was fool and those words never left his lips again. He didn’t want Neji to make any of the same mistakes.

“I don’t think you would be cruel to her, but I have to tell you what to expect I ever find out that you have been. Now, tell me, did our other talk come in handy for you?” Hiashi was grinning. Neji nearly choked on his sake at that very moment.

“Oh…my…god…you are seriously not going to make me answer that!” Neji thought to himself. Hiashi’s eyes were soft and full of anticipation.” “Shit, he is seriously going to make me answer this.” He finally realized.
“Yeah, it paid off.” He answered as quickly as he possibly could. For the first time, Neji wanted this conversation to be over. Hiashi laughed, realizing it was going to be a task to pull any information out of Neji.

“Is she a virgin?” Hiashi asked pouring Neji a second dish of sake. It had taken him forever to finish the first dish.

“Wait…he isn’t upset about this, he’s not even slightly concerned…in fact he’s okay with it.” Neji thought. It was then he decided to relax. Hiashi really was the cool uncle that everyone wished they had.

“Well, she…she was.” Neji said. Hiashi laughed.

“Yeah, so was your aunt.”

“Please…please…please…please…don’t drag her into this…” Neji’s mind convinced him that before this conversation was over; he was going to hear about how Hiashi bangs the hell out of his aunt all the time. It was true; Hiashi did bang her
a lot…Neji simply chose to be in denial over it. Neji wanted to get to a different topic so Hiashi’s wife would not be mentioned.

“Can I ask you something?” he said tentatively.

“Of course.”

Neji lowered his voice and leaned in toward the table. “Will you change the sheets on my bed? I forgot to do it and I don’t want Hinata or anyone else changing them.” Hiashi smiled again.

“Sure I will. Next time, use the white ones it will be less noticeable.”

“Okay, that’s it…should I stab myself right now because of what he just said or hug this guy? Now, he’s giving me advice on how to have discrete sex in our home. Wait, the white sheets are the real expensive sheets, the 500 thread count sheets, who wants to get those sheets messy?” Neji snapped out of his thoughtful trance for a moment.

“Okay…I’ll…uh….remember that. Hiashi-sama, there’s one more thing.” Neji said. “Could I go see her tonight? I…wont’ be out late…I promise.” Neji figured it would be best to work out a compromise instead of saying something like ‘I’ll be out all night fucking her like crazy’. Hiashi pushed his sake saucer aside and gazed at Neji.

“Of course you can see her, Neji. I just don’t want you sleeping all day tomorrow; you and I need to train. Be in before 3:00.” Hiashi stood up form the table and returned his sake to the fridge. Neji wanted to smile like he had never smiled before, but he held it back.

“Hiashi-sama?” Neji called to him. Hiashi turned around and walked toward his nephew. “You’re the best.” Neji hugged him as if Hiashi were his own father; this made Hiashi swell with pride.
