Why Orange?

Hello everyone! I have a question, Naruto's outfit of dark green shirt with yellow embroidered sun and black jeans would you prefer it be changed slightly to camo pants and a white sun on the green shirt? The original color arrangement is haunting one of my reviewers so I'm putting it down to a vote of whether it changes or not. Majority rules sooo let me know.
Well I promised that Itachi would see blood in this chapter and so he shall.

Itachi:(bloodthirsty grin)It's about time, this fic is too sappy.

T.W.:Yeah, and?

Sai:I think he'd prefer a more active fic.

T.W.:Well tough tooties, I suck at fight scenes sooooo I stick to what I do best, sappy stuff.

Itachi:If you suck at fight scenes how can you have blood in this chapter?

T.W.:Did I ever say that there would be fighting? No I didn't Itachi. There doesn't have to be fighting for there to be bloody violence.

Sai:Huh?

T.W.:They can't exactly fight back, you'll see.

WARNING:There is some violence that could be described as torture in this chapter as well as violent death, so if you don't like that kind of stuff don't read this chapter.

Chapter 12 Back in Konoha

Three men sat around a campfire, complaining.

"I can't believe the Hokage exiled us for giving the Kyuubi a taste of it's own medicine!"

"The Hokage has been blinded to the monster's true nature. She'll see the truth in time and when she does she'll allow us to return."

Suddenly, a masked ANBU entered the clearing that the men sat in, "I wouldn't bet on that if I were you."

The ANBU immobilized them with well placed senbon, then drew his sword and sliced the first man into quarters. The second man was cut open so he would bleed out slowly and painfully. The last man stared at the ANBU as he resheathed his sword in terror. He knew that his death was going to be slower and more painful than his companion's deaths had been.

The ANBU began by beating the man to the edge of unconsciousness then, he revived him, only to start cutting strips of his skin off. The man started screaming and the ANBU cauterized his vocal cords. Finally, after hours of torture, the ANBU disembowled the man and stood over him watching him die. Afterwards, the ANBU burned the remains so that only ash and bits of bone remained.

The ANBU went back to Konoha and entered his apartment through the bathroom window. He was pleased that he'd finally avenged Naruto as he hadn't been able to all those years ago.

The ANBU felt the surge of monstrous chakra and rushed to Naruto's apartment. When he entered, he saw the naked boy huddled in the corner rocking himself back and forth and whimpering, "No," over and over again. The ANBU missed no detail, from the broken furniture, to the boy's shredded pajamas, to the chunks of flesh on the floor. He realized that the boy had been sexually assulted if not outright raped, and that Kyuubi's chakra had come out to defend the boy.

The ANBU made his way to Naruto and, surrounding his arm in his own chakra to protect it from Kyuubi's, he gently touched Naruto's shoulder. The boy flinched and curled into himself even tighter. The ANBU spoke in a gentle tone, "It's alright now Naruto. You're safe, I'll protect you."

Kyuubi's chakra, recognizing that the ANBU meant no harm, receded and the boy looked up at the ANBU with wet, blue eyes, "You'll protect me? You promise?"

The ANBU nodded, "I promise, and a shinobi never goes back on his word."

Naruto launched himself into the ANBU's arms, and cried out the pain and terror of the night against his uniform. 'I swear Naruto, that one day I will make the bastards who did this to you pay.'

The ANBU stripped out of his bloody clothes and hid them. Then, he took off his mask, revealing the face of Iruka.

Iruka stepped into the shower to wash off the blood. No one, not even Kakashi, knew that Iruka had been an ANBU since he was seventeen. Only the Hokage had that information. Kakashi thought that he'd stepped out to finish grading some papers and the tattoo on his arm was always concealed with genjutsu. Iruka had decided to become an ANBU on the day he first met Naruto.

A fifteen year old Iruka sat in the branches of an old tree in the middle of the playground. He saw a flash of yellow underneath him. It was the Kyuubi vessel. At first, Iruka had almost hated the boy but he realized that the boy was an innocent child who didn't deserve to be punished for the actions of another. That didn't mean that he wanted to be anywhere near the kid though. As Iruka tensed to leave the tree branches, he saw the boy drawing a picture of a family and he heard a whispered, "My wish."

Curiosity got the better of Iruka and he jumped down in front of the boy, taking care not to disturb the picture. The boy raised startled eyes the blue of a summer sky to Iruka's face, "Hewo. I's Mawuto."

Iruka blinked in surprise, "Naruto?"

"Uh-huh what your name?"

"Iruka."

"Wuka wanna pway wif me?"

Iruka was going to say no, but he saw the painful hope in Naruto's eyes and found himself sitting down and showing the boy how to use sticks and rocks to stage a mock battle. Soon Naruto had Iruka laughing as he hadn't laughed since his parents had died. As the sun set Iruka stood up and said, "It's almost dark, we need to leave for our homes."

Naruto grabbed Iruka's hand, "Wuka?"

"Hmm?"

"Will you be my fwiend?"

Iruka thought about it, the boy had made him happier than he'd been in a long time and they both were all alone so, "Sure Naruto, we'll be friends."

"Yatta! No one's ever wanted to be my fwiend before."

"I'll walk you home, okay?"

Naruto nodded and led Iruka through the village towards the apartment the Hokage had given him. As they walked, people threw various objects at Naruto and tried to hit him, but he dodged all the objects and blows. Iruka tried to make them stop but they refused to listen to a genin. As Iruka watched Naruto navigate the hostile maze, he saw an ANBU stop a man from throwing a kunai at the boy. The ANBU said something to the man that had him flinching and practically running away. Iruka looked back to Naruto and made a silent promise to the boy who had gained his loyalty and protection in such a short time. 'Naruto I promise you that I'll become an ANBU so that I'll be strong enough to protect you from the people who try to hurt you.'

Iruka had become ANBU in secret with the Sandaime's permission and had used the position of an Academy teacher as a cover to protect Naruto. 'And I failed twice.' Iruka sighed, turned off the shower, dried himself off, and went to join Kakashi in bed. As he slid in beside the jonin, Kakashi wrapped his arms around Iruka, "you finish what you needed to?"

Iruka smiled, "Yeah, it's finished now."

With that Iruka fell asleep in the arms of his lover.

October 12th

Naruto said goodbye to Gaara and stood talking with Temari and Kankuro, giving Neji and Gaara the chance to talk.

Neji looked at Gaara, feeling the small tearing in his heart that he felt every time he had to leave, "I'll be back soon.

Gaara nodded and asked the question that had been on his mind since Naruto had mentioned the possibility, "Neji would you like to move here?"

Neji blinked at the unexpected question, but recovered quickly, "Yes, but my uncle needs to be convinced to let me go, otherwise I won't be allowed to leave Konoha."

"If needed I could intimidate him into agreeing."

Neji chuckled, "If anyone could intimidate him it would be you."

Gaara quickly kissed Neji and said, "You should go now if you want to make it to Konoha before dark."

Neji nodded and turned to walk away, feeling each step stab into his heart. Naruto waved, "Bye! Thanks for a great time! I'll come again and I'll bring Sasuke-teme and Neji with me!"

Then he and Neji disappeared behind a sand dune.

Naruto entered Tsunade's office to see the Legendary Sucker sleeping on her paperwork. He snuck up next to her and yelled in her ear, "Oi Baa-chan wake up!"

Tsunade jerked into a sitting position and blinked at Naruto, "Naruto? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in Suna?"

"Jeez Baa-chan, are you getting senile in your old age? You told me to come back on the twelfth."

She twitched at the insult but let it pass, "So I did. Naruto did Neji tell you-"

"That everyone knows about the attempted rape? Yeah he did. What do you want to know?"

She took a deep breath, "Was it really just attempted rape or..."

"Yes Baa-chan, it really was just attempted, he did not succeed. Anything else?"

"No not really. You going to see Iruka now?"

He shook his head, "No I'm going to find Sasuke-teme first."

She winced, "Uh Naruto?"

"Hmm?"

"Sasuke's still under sedation."

"WHAT!"

T.W.:Well there you go. Happy now Itachi?

Itachi:Yes mostly. Why was Naruto-kun so surprised, I thought Neji told him that Sasuke had been sedated?"

T.W.:He did but he neglected to tell Naruto that Sasuke was going to remain under sedation until naruto came back so Naruto thought Sasuke would be awake when he got back.

Sai:Naruto-kun is going to be irritated isn't he?

T.W.:How would you feel if you came home to a sedated boyfriend, that you had to leave just when things were getting good, after being away for four or five days?"

Sai:I'd be pissed.

T.W.:Exactly. Well tell me what you thought. Ja ne!
