'Tis the Season

Jiraiya had been out of the village for a few days, checking out a rumor he had
heard. On arriving back in Konoha, he noticed an undercurrent of unease among the
villagers and shinobi he passed. He hurried to the Hokage Tower to impart his news
to Tsunade. Maybe she could shed some light on the situation.

Tsunade was staring out the window, Shizune at her side, when Jiraiya leaped
through it, scaring both women. Tsunade recovered first, aiming a fist at her old
teammate. "There is a DOOR, damnit!!! Why doesn't anyone USE it?!" she yelled in
frustration. "Jiraiya, what do you want?" she growled.

Jiraiya leered, waggling his eyebrows. "I thought you knew. You. I want you."
He had to dodge the chakra-infused fist that she aimed at his face. Backing out of
harm's way, he held his hands up in a placating manner. "Gomen, gomen. Just a
little joke." His face took on a serious expression. "I checked on a rumor I
overheard at the onsen." Tsunade quirked an eyebrow, but said nothing. "It seems
Akatsuki is once again on the move. They may be after Naruto again. Where is the
gaki?"

The blond Hokage and her assistant shared a glance. With firm resolve, Tsunade
gazed steadily at her old friend as she spoke. "Naruto's missing. He's been
kidnapped. I have two teams out right now tracking them down. Whoever it is is
strong. They overpowered him." She blinked the tears from her eyes. "So, you
think this is the work of the Akatsuki?"

When hearing Naruto was gone, Jiraiya had to sit down before he fell. His limbs
were weak from fear for the young blond. It took him a minute to absorb the news,
and when he did, one of the first thoughts he had was 'There goes my yaoi edition!'
His next thought was for the boy's safety. He stared into space, trying to come up
with a plan to get Naruto back. After long thought, Jiraiya left the office and
the village.

The fight had been vicious. It had taken almost a week to catch up to the
kidnappers. Now all but Itachi, it seemed, had some kind of injury. The two from
Akatsuki had had to flee, minus their captive. Naruto was in a daze, laying at the

soon entered a small clearing covered with fragrant wildflowers. Sai gently lay
the blond on the ground. He removed his weapons' pouches and sandals, then lay
beside the younger boy. He traced a finger over the whisker marks on Naruto's
cheeks, then across petal-soft lips. Leaning in, he gave the blond boy a chaste
kiss before smiling at him again. Reaching over, he untied Naruto's pants and

Smiling in that maddening way, Sai explained, "According to my reading, you have

It was the consensus that all would stand guard so the kyuubi-vessel could rest.
