Gathering information is a tedious job. Lying is a tedious job. Watching your back is a tedious job. Falling in love at the wrong time is a tedious job. Kurama rubs his temples and drops the heavily used and unmarked folder on his bed, spreading the pictures and intelligence out. His nightshirt rides up his thighs as he leans closer to study one particular picture he had pulled up off the internet. He snatches the picture from the bed. It is a black and white picture from a surveillance camera mounted on the Uchiha grounds. Despite the lack of color, Kurama could tell it was the cocky, fair-haired, self-proclaimed artist, he had seen on the news. Some thing in the picture catches his eye, a ring normally jewelry didn’t make him look twice but for some reason this ring is, grabbing a small magnifying glass he scan down the arm to the hand of the blonde gentleman who was accused of razing the entire Uchiha Compound. A ring dons his index finger. Kurama could not figure why something as trivial as a ring’s placement was some how plaguing his mind.
“God, I must just be tired,” he moans pinching the bridge of his nose.
The living room clock chimes twelve and urge to sleep hits Kurama like a heat wave as he breaks into a fox sized yawn. He collects his papers and places the folder on his dresser. This job is... Kurama’s thoughts pause. He shrugs his incisiveness on lack of sleep and crawls into bed. Sleep comes quickly and the dreamer weaver spins many elaborate tales to carry the fox through the night. Morning breaks with pulsating shrill of an alarm clock. A sign of more irrating things to come, Kurama ponders as he turns off his alarm
“Shuichi Minamino please report to Uchiha Sasuke, Minamino please report to Uchiha Sasuke,” The overhead booms.
“Great, my day just keeps getting better. “ Kurama huffs sarcastically.
This morning his bus had broke down about a mile short of his stop, which by itself would have been fine but some pissed off deity felt Kurama wasn’t suffering quite enough so a unforeseen down pour accompanied him on his trek. Now, he is being summoned by the demi-president. Kurama walk down the hall smile always in place as he passes a much smaller tour groups, he does briefly wonder if his past actions are the reason.
“Minamino, please report to Uchiha Sasuke, Minamino Shuichi report to Uchiha Sasuke.”
Kurama’s lighthearted thoughts quickly turn sinester, “if that self righteous, pompous, bastard pushes that button again he will have to learn to prep an ass with his toes because he will not have a single finger left,” he fumes.
He reaches the door and flings it open without knocking. “What the fuck do you want?” almost carelessly rolls off his tongue, but a more refined yet just as fierce “Yes” hisses through his clenched smile.
“You are fired”
“On what bases am I being fired?” Kurama asks as his mind battles between rage and confusion.
“You are charged with breaking and entering.” Sasuke replies with a smirk. “Did you not see the VIP only sign on the door to the pool?”
“You hired me to do a job and I plan to complete it.”
“You have been easily replaced,” a familiar voice whispers from behind, she walks around Kurama and stands next to Sasuke like a beat dog, loyal to a tragic fault.
“Still pining for a lost cause I see, Karen.” Kurama calmly brushes his hair behind his ear as he turns to leave. The soft click of the door was the only sound Kurama wants to hear as he walks down the corridor for the last time, legally.
“Yo Minanino whatcha doin up here?” Naruto shout from the far end of the hall. Before Kurama could answer the blonde, he readily starts jumping to his own random conclusions. “Wait a minute,” he says as a grand epiphany ransacks his thoughts, “I heard Sasuke call you up here, he had mentioned to me earlier when we were umm never mind, he said he had something very important to tell you. Holy shit cakes, he gave you a promotion. I mean honestly someone with your talent and personal charm how could he not.” The optimist blonde beams as he stands hand ready to be the first to congratulate Kurama with a on his non-existing promotion of his non-existing job.
“No, I was fired.”
Kurama walks past a dumbfounded Naruto, he then stops for moment. “But thank you.” Kurama says not looking back.
Good news travels fast, bad news travels even faster.
“Hello”
“Sorry…I…but….no. Understood I’ll talk to him.”
Kisame flips his phone close and tosses it on the empty car seat.
“Damn.” he curses under his breath as he pulls an illegal u-turn in the middle of the street heads back home. “This is getting messy,” he complains as he slaps his stick into fourth gear.
