Chapter 10: A plan is formed
A/N: Here you go, the next chapter!
Naruto woke up in a hospital bed, with Sakura by his side.
"Good, you're awake. You were admitted here because somehow, you had used up all your chakra and you were totally exhausted. You've slept for 30 hours straight." She said.
"Wait, what? 30 hours?" Naruto asked.
Then he remembered what had happened. He needed to know what had happened. He reached out with his mind.
"Sasuke."
"Yes, I'm still here. We need to talk, Naruto. Come to my location."
"Sure, I'll be there in a day."
"And bring Kakashi." Sasuke said as the connection faded away into the background.
"I'm sorry, Sakura, what did you say?"
"I asked how you could possibly use up all of your chakra without any visible effect."
"Bring Kakashi and Tsunade here. I'll tell you guys all at once."
Sasuke had never been this shocked in his entire life. He could still hear the horrible truth Madara had told him.
"The village ordered Itachi to kill our clan."
At first he had found it hard to believe. But it made sense. Itachi should have been stronger, but instead of killing Sasuke, he gave him his eye powers.
"The village ordered Itachi to kill our clan."
He felt nauseous. A few years ago, his first response would have been to set out and destroy Konoha. But now, things were a little bit more complicated. Now there was Naruto.
"The village ordered Itachi to kill our clan."
The choice would have been easy if he didn't love the blonde. Now, he had to think of a way that would satisfy his revenge without hurting Naruto. He didn't know if that was possible.
"The answer is no, Naruto! I will not allow you to leave the village and meet Sasuke on your own." Tsunade yelled.
"Let me finish, granny Tsunade! I'm not that stupid, I will go together with Kakashi. Sasuke asked to see him as well."
Saskura cringed. Naruto saw it, and he knew how she felt. He felt bad, so he said: "If you want, you can come with us, Sakura."
She smiled."Thanks Naruto. I'd like that."
"Fine! You can go, but I expect you to be back with a full report in three days."
The place Sasuke had asked them to come to was a huge mansion, property of the Uchiha-clan. It was in the middle of the forest, near a beautiful lake. Sasuke was sitting on a bench on the front porch.
"Dobe."
"Teme."
Sasuke walked towards Naruto and kissed him. "I've missed you."
"Same here." Naruto grinned.
Both boys then realized that Sakura was staring at them with open mouth. "What?!"
"Sakura, this is my boyfriend, Naruto." Sasuke smiled.
"It's a good thing I'm over Sasuke, or I would have kicked your ass for this, Naruto."
"I know. Let's go inside."
"Yes, we really need to talk." Sasuke said.
Once inside, Kakashi said: "It's good to see you again, Sasuke. What do you have to say to us?"
"After I killed Itachi, I was taken away by a member of Akatsuki. He called himself Uchiha Madara."
"Impossible." Sakura interjected. "Madara was one of Konoha's founding fathers, he should have died a long time ago."
"That's what I said, but it's true. He knew... many things. That is the reason I have called you here."
He paused, pondering about the implications of what he was about to say.
"Itachi was ordered to kill our clan. He was ordered to do this by the village elders and a guy named Danzo."
Everybody looked at him with looks of shock and disbelief.
"Impossible. The village would never..." Naruto started.
"Actually, this kind of makes sense." Kakashi interjected.
"Kakashi-sensei, you don't believe this, do you?" Naruto said angrily.
"For the last three years, I've been looking into the matter. I figured that it would be easier to coerce Sasuke into coming back if I knew all there is to know about it. I found out that all the records on it had been erased, and that it had been done by the Third Hokage. However, I know the Third, and he never erased any records. So it had to be under orders of the elders."
"That would be true. From what I've been told, I know that the Third was against the order, but Danzo went over his head to the elders and they forced him. Nonetheless, for me this all means that I cannot go back to Konoha, until Danzo and the elders have paid for their crimes."
"What?!" Naruto yelled.
"Listen to me, Naruto. If it weren't for you, I'd probably try to destroy Konoha. But I love you, so I won't do that. However, if I go back there now, slowly my rage will grow, until I will finally give in to it. That's why I can't go back there."
"Then I'll leave Konoha too. I'll go with you."
"No, Naruto. You can't. Konoha is your home. You will become Hokage, and once you have, maybe I can come back. In the meantime, I have a plan."
"I'm listening." Kakashi said.
"I'm going to infiltrate Akatsuki. Madara offered me a place in their ranks. I played along, acting like I want my revenge against Konoha. I'll spy on them and slow them down, and when the time is there we will destroy them forever."
"Sasuke, no! It's too dangerous." Naruto replied.
"Too dangerous? You know what is dangerous? Akatsuki coming after you, without anyone knowing when, why or how. Believe me, I am more than capable of this mission."
"I agree with him, Naruto. This may be our only chance to take down Akatsuki." Kakashi said.
"Fine, but if it becomes too dangerous, we will come and get you."
"Okay, then that's settled. Now, I have something more that will surprise you. Pain is not really Akatsuki's leader, he is just Madara's puppet."
"Wait, what?"
"It's true. I'll tell you all the info I have on Akatsuki. And I need you to keep this quiet. Only tell Tsunade about this plan, or else it won't work."
"Fine. Then I have a plan of my own." Naruto smiled. "I will talk to Tsunade and together with Kakashi we will find the evidence of this order. Then the elders and Danzo will be punished for their crimes."
"Thank you, Naruto."
"I see." Tsunade said. "This is all a bit unfortunate. Jiraiya has just left after he had gotten intel on Pain's location. We hoped that by taking out the leader, we would slow them down, but that won't be the case."
"Jiraiya has gone to face Pain on his own? Isn't that a bit reckless?" Kakashi asked.
"Perhaps, but his mind was set on it. Now, as to the matter of Danzo and the elders, this will be a little bit more difficult. If Kakashi hasn't found any records, it must mean they have destroyed them. However, the Third would never let them do this without a way for them to be punished for it later. I will allow you three access to the Hokage's secret record room."
"We have one of those?" Sakura asked. "I never once heard of that."
"It would be a bad secret if people knew about it. I will have to place a seal on your tongues though, so you will never speak of it. All the secrets of Konoha since it's foundation are hidden there, and if even one of them comes out, it could be a disaster for the village."
"Fine. Show us the location and we will start right away." The pink haired kunoichi replied.
As they started to walk away, suddenly there was a little explosion on Tsunade's desk. When the smoke cleared, a small frog with a beard appeared, covered in cuts and bruises.
"Jiraiya is dead"
A/N: Somehow, the more I write, the more I want to write xD At this rate, the story will be finished before the end of the month :D It makes me a little sad though, because after that I need to think of a new one, but fortunately there is still enough goodness in this story.
