Conclusion

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto…

AN: So I revised it. The whole thing. Pretty much that’s what took so long. It’s not really better but it’s not worse either although the revision does lend me some piece of mind. Anyway I hope you enjoy it. Finally over.

Thank you to any and everyone still reading this story. I appreciated all of your reviews and hopefully having an end will be some sort of payment.

Thanks again and enjoy. The End.

-Conclusion-

Any comfort Sakura might have gained from her reconciliation with Naruto evaporated when she walked through the door. There was nothing reassuring or gentle in the faces that turned towards her.

Spiral had been gathered to hear her testimony; and they weren’t particularly happy about it.

Under the intensity of their anger Sakura scrapped together what was left of her courage and stepped forward letting the door click shut behind her. Desperately fighting her anxiety, she didn’t notice Naruto leading her further into the room, until he pulled her down into his lap.

The grin on his face hadn’t faded since they had dried each other off and redressed. Naruto + Sex= Happiness. “Let’s get this party started.” No one seemed to share his enthusiasm. “Go ahead Sakura-chan.” He lipped at her ear and Sakura couldn’t keep her giggles to herself.

Sasuke’s malevolent aura pulsed. The flare of his rage prickled along her skin. His presence beside them was like a weight in her heart. It was a struggle not to look up at him.

“Yes Sakura, explain this situation.” Sakura flinched at the tone of his voice. Sasuke was going to make this about as pleasant as snuggling porcupines. Fuck him. He could take that inflated ego and crappy attitude and stick them up his unforgiving ass. They didn’t have the time to shovel through each other’s emotional bullshit. More important things needed doing.

“All right here’s the deal. It’s true I’m not what I said I was. I’m a vice cop. They sent me in here undercover to figure out as much as I could about Spiral and its relationship with Black Leaf. But I got in way over my head. Things didn’t really turn out like I thought they would. You probably won’t believe me when I say I’m sorry, really truly sorry for everything that’s happened but I am. And you don’t have to like me. But I need you to trust me just a little bit. Just until we can take Itachi out.”

“And then what? Us in jail and you with a promotion?” Sasuke looked bored.

Naruto’s grip tightened, it seemed as through the afterglow was beginning to wear off.

“Keep you mouth shut, Bastard.”

“Who knew all it took to buy your loyalty was some slut spreading her legs.”

Naruto exploded out of the chair and Sakura went sprawling to the flour. One fist buried itself in the darker man’s shirt holding him in position for a smack down.

“That’s enough!” Sakura pushed her way up to her feet. “Naruto I appreciate the gesture but I don’t need a knight in shinning armor. Let him go.”

“Sakura-chan…” She turned her back on him.

“And you…” A pale finger pointed at Sasuke. “You are such an insufferable prick! The only reason we’re all here is so you can fulfill your foolish desire to become an avenger. You can’t think this obsession with killing your brother is for anyone but yourself.” These weren’t the words he’d been expecting.

“He killed the entire clan. He betrayed us all.” It came out flat, unaffected. Sakura was pushing him farther then she planned but he was being a stubborn bastard and she needed him less bitchy before the shit hit the fan.

“Would they have wanted your life destroyed by him as well? The last true Uchiha?” Her voice was soft. Emerald met ebony and didn’t look away.

“Everyone here is dedicated to your personal revenge. True, they may have their own reasons why they follow you but the fact remains that they are following you. And no one else. I’m sure you understand the concept of responsibility, its time to stop being such a selfish little brat and exercise some.”

The air was thick enough to choke on.

“Itachi will die.” Sakura didn’t argue and Sasuke relaxed a little. “Then tell us.”

Sakura let out a breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding and leaned back into Naruto who wrapped his arms around her. She looked over at Kakashi.

The left side of his face looked as though it had been slammed one too many times into a wall…or fist. The eye patch was missing but it didn’t revel much but swollen discolored flesh. His posture was hunched, an arm cradling his middle. It looked as though something on the inside had been damaged. But he didn’t seem to be in too much pain. All in all he was in far better shape then what she had expected after hearing he had been at the mercy of both Gaara and Sasuke for the past several hours.

“Kakashi, why don’t you tell us about Itachi.” Sakura was grateful to pass the torch on to someone else for the time being. She was exhausted.

“Itachi has the vision to support his convictions. It will be very difficult to dissuade him from his goal.”

“Which is?”

“Power. He was trained to recognize strength, everything else is insignificant. There is nothing but his pursuit of ultimate power. He will not falter in any decision, he will not hesitate. He will take the city, not because he wants to rule but because he knows someone will try to stop him. The atrocities he will commit and encourage will be countless and gruesome until something rises from the ashes to challenge him. All he can see is the next battle; all he wants is another opponent. It’s why he let you be for so long, he was grooming Spiral as his next obstacle to over come.”

Sasuke’s blank stare left Kakashi and settled on Sakura. “So what is your plan?”

Sakura shrugged. “Itachi is dealing with a police raid as we speak. If I can get in contact with my superiors maybe I can talk them into letting you go down there and kick his ass.” She held up a hand to silence any protest. His eyes narrowed at her. “I know you can do it all by yourself, that you don’t need or want our help but don’t be an idiot. There are benefits to doing it my way.”

“Oh?” Sakura calmed herself with images of kicking him in the balls.

“You would be heroes, and the police don’t arrest heroes. There will be ambulances and fast medical support, you won’t have to deal with breaking through his defenses, you can focus on killing him. I know you’re smart take advantage of the situation.”

“You think the murder of my brother will void our past crimes?”

“It’s worth a phone call.”

He wanted to disagree so badly. She could see him fighting not to hit her, throw her out, anything to get her away. His hand disappeared into a pocket before he tossed her his phone. “Do it.” He didn’t sound pleased but she could deal with surly compliance. It was certainly better the surly defiance.

“Thank you” She said flipping it open and dialing. Sasuke’s frown deepened.

It took fourteen calls to get through but she finally did.

“WHAT!”

“Chief Tsunade?”

“Who the hell else would it be?”

“This is Sakura Haruno.”

“What the fuck do you want?”

“Things aren’t going well with the raid are they?”

“No.” The buxom blond was grinding her teeth.

“I think I might have a solution to your problem.”

“I’m listening.”

“Spiral might be willing to back you up.”

“Would they now? And why would that be?”

“They found out about me…and I might have said something about a pardon. And no repercussion for Itachi’s death.”

There was silence on the other end. “Haruno I am very angry with you. Your blatant betrayal is inexcusable; your reports were so inadequate there would be no foundation for conviction.” She sighed heavily. “But I’m deep in the suck.”

“What do you want me to do?”

“Bring’em” The phone went dead.

Sakura handed Sasuke his phone. “Looks like you’ll get your chance.”

Spiral’s response time was really rather impressive. Naruto and Sasuke ran a tight ship. Everyone was dressed, weaponed, and on the pavement in under ten minutes.

Motorcycle engines revved, carbon dioxide filled the air, and excitement ran the edge of fear. It’d be a lie to say they weren’t intimidating. She felt a swell of pride before crashing back to reality. She wasn’t really a part of this, her temporary euphoria of belonging disappeared.

Sakura stood next to Kakashi, feeling alone. A heavy hand came to rest on her head and she scowled over at him.

“Everything will work out.” He winked his exposed eye, ruffling her hair and he walked off towards a wary Gaara.

The redhead’s face twisted unpleasantly at the older man’s approach. Kakashi ignored Gaara’s growling and hoped on the bike behind him, scooting as far forward as possible so the lengths of their bodies touched. Damn pervert, couldn’t help but push people’s buttons. Or perhaps he was just extracting his own private revenge. Either way Gaara was turning an interesting shade of murderous.

The scene became far less amusing for Sakura when she felt Sasuke stepped up beside her. He pulled out a cigarette and lit it. Sasuke only smoked when he was really upset or really excited about kicking some ass. Either way things weren’t looking fun.

“Ready?” He asked.

“I though I would go with-.”

“No.”

Searching desperately for someone to save her she finally made eye contact with Naruto.

The blond blew her a kiss before throwing his leg over his motorcycle and leading the others away in a fantastic barrage of screeching and skidding. Their red tail lights winking out of sight when they turned the first corner.

And then nothing. She was alone with Sasuke.

“I shouldn’t take you anywhere.”

She turned towards him and her heart stuttered. He really was so very beautiful. It hurt to look at him but she made herself to it.

Sasuke was eyeing her coolly. Taking a long drag, he let the smoke fill his lungs. He certainly wasn’t the flashy dressier Naruto was but his ridding leathers, or fighting leathers, or whatever kind of leathers they were, were probably the sexiest damn thing she’d ever seen on a man. Sakura tried to breathe slowly and control her racing heart. She licked her lips.

For about half a second Sasuke looked startled before clamping down and regaining the emotional equivalency of a potato.

“Tsunade is expecting to deal with me, not a bunch of rowdy bikers out for blood.”

“I’m sure Kakashi could work just as well in such a capacity, there are some things we need clear between us without the idiot to interfere.” He took a drag, and waited.

“…ok” It really wasn’t ok at all.

“I wanted to apologize.” Sakura froze. “For being petty. Feelings like love and desire make people weak. Thank you for showing me how truly weak I still am.” Her fists tightened at her sides. “After this battle, whatever you’re relationship with Naruto, I never want to see your face again. You will remove yourself from Spiral.” He stepped in closer to her, standing up straight so that he was towering over her. “If you ever betray Naruto again, I’ll kill you.” He tossed his cigarette to the ground, crushing it beneath his boot.

Sakura was shaking, with anger, with fear, with despair. She believed him. His voice held nothing but loathing, his eyes burned with disgust. Only deep love and deeper hurt could provoke such hatred.

Reality crashed in around her, and for a moment she thought she was drowning. The weight of his words crushing her. Her knees felt weak and it took everything she had not to crumple at his feet in tears. Not trusting her mouth she gave him a jerky nod.

“Good.” He mounted the bike. “Now let’s finish this thing.”

Sakura slid behind him. It felt so right to be pressed up against him; she let herself savor it for the last time, holding onto him as tightly as she could. His body tensed as she squeezed him closer, burring her face in his back she let the tears come.

Sasuke switched gears wishing just a little that Itachi would kill him and the doubt he felt about the future would be irrelevant.

Eventually they stopped having reached the rendezvous point. Sakura jumped off and away form him. Her cheeks were dry.

Naruto glomped her from behind nuzzling into her neck. “I missed you, Sakura-chan. I didn’t want to leave you with the bastard but its best not to go into battle with unresolved issues, especially between lovers.”

“Sasuke made it quite clear what we are and what we’re not.” She said attempting to disentangle herself from him but Naruto wouldn’t let her go.

“You’re more of an idiot then I thought, Sasuke-teme.”

“It’s alright Naruto, its not important right now.”

He maneuvered her body until she was facing him. “You are so beautiful.” She leaned into the hand that cupped her cheek. “How’d I get so lucky?” He smiled and the warmth of it soothed some of her heartache. Naruto must have seen it because he gathered her against him, and she allowed him too because more then anything it was what she needed.

Over his shoulder she saw Sasuke turn away from them, walking towards the rest of the gang.

Kakashi was making his way towards them, his visible eye crinkled with a smile. Gaara was glaring daggers at his back unconsciously playing with a butterfly knife. Lee was doing…push-ups.? Neji’s hand gently held TenTen’s hand as they spoke quite words to each other. Ino was trying without much success to wrestle Shikamaru’s unruly hair back into a ponytail. Hinata was sitting on Kiba’s lap, Shino looming over them, their hands worked at rubbing away her tension. Choji was leaning against his motorcycle Temari pressed between his legs sharing a bag of chips. It was beautiful and tragic, how fragile their lives were, how this might be the last time they could all be together.

Sakura knew if she held onto Naruto much longer she might not be able to let him go so she pushed him away rather harshly but he seemed to understand because he didn’t throw a fit over it. Probably he had a lot of practice dealing with emotional fucktarts because he hung out with Sasuke.

He caught her hand before she could get too far, threading their fingers together. “You know where we’re going?”

She snorted at him. “Oh course.”

Looking over her shoulder she located a busty woman surrounded by uniforms and yelling into a walky-talky.

“Looks like she’s in a good mood.” Kakashi said merrily stepping up beside her.

“Looks like you’re in a good mood.” He smirked down at her.

“I’d forgotten how much fun it is to tease little boys.” Kakashi was reminding her more of Jiraiya by the second. He had that same kind of untouchable perversion.

“I might be inclined to help that little boy take your balls off.” Sasuke had returned, his katana strapped to his back. Sakura wanted to believe he just made a joke but…this was Sasuke we’re talking about.

Grabbing him before Kakashi could reply, she hauled the two gang leaders after her.

Sakura cleared her throat and Tsunade whirled around.

“Haruno! Where the hell have you been?”

“Chief Tusnade. This is Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke.”

Tsuande’s eyes flickered between the two men before resting once again on her.

“These are what you gave up your life for? I’ll admit there passing pretty for an expressionless ice princess and his overgrown human puppy. They must be mind blowing in bed for you to put up with his lack of personality.” She nodded at Sasuke. “And his lack of brains.” She thumb jerked at Naruto. “And still cross over to the dark side.”

Quick. She had to think quick to defuse the situation before the scary men pounded the important police lady into a bloody pulp. Sasuke’s shaking wasn’t from laughter, and Naruto…

“WHAT was that you old ha-”

Moving before her brain could catch up she yanked on the hands still in her grasp, both bodies followed her tug and thrown off balance they floundered until…their lips met. Naruto’s dusty pink and Sasuke’s rosy pale. Surprise froze them long enough for Tsunade to get the wrong impression.

“Oh I see. That’s the way things are.” The older woman said with a wicked glint in her honeyed eyes. “Sakura I never knew you were so kinky. In light of this new information, they might have been enough to tempt me too.” She winked. Sakura tried not to smile and failed.

The boys sputtered apart but not before Naruto caught the look on Sakura’s face. “THAT really turned you on?!” Sakura blushed and wouldn’t look at him. She missed Naruto’s thoughtful expression and Sasuke’s carefully blank face.

Kakashi saved them from any further embarrassment. “So what’s the situation?”

“What do you think it is!?” Kakashi blinked. “Itachi is in there killing my men.”

"You sent them in there." Sasuke said. Tsunade's face turned red and Sakura thought she might explode but instead she deflated in a sigh.

"You're right." For a brief moment she seemed hurt but then her features hardened and she glared at Sasuke. "So go save them."

"I'm here for Itachi."

"Fine, whatever just get in there and help.”

“It’ll cost ya you old hag.” Naruto was smiling…until Sakura smacked him in the head. “Oww!”

“Shut up moron. Show some respect.”

“I thought the whole reason Haruno brought you down here was too clean up this mess.”

“We will. Once we’re sure our demands are met.”

“Demands?! Who the fuck do you think you are?”

“We’re the only ones that can get you out of this on top.”

Tsunade huffed, and puffed, but gave in before blowing a house down.

“After this is over I’ll deny ever having had this conversation but this is what I’m willing to concede. Haruno, you will be dishonorably discharged, Itachi’s body will be labeled an unavoidable casualty with no further investigation into his death, Spiral’s record will be stamped top secret and collect cobwebs in that special crack behind the file cabinets that no one will ever look, and the city will be a safer place. Acceptable?”

“Hnn.” Sasuke turned his back on the older woman. “Come on Dobe, my brother has waited long enough for his death.”

Naruto pulled her after him.

“Sakura” A pink head turned towards the voice her body still moving forward. “Keep a close watch on those two.” And Tsunade stalked away, her harsh voice increasing in volume as she screamed out orders.

“Your boss is kinda scary for an old lady.”

“It would be in your best interest if she didn’t hear you say that.”

The gang had moved into a loose semicircle waiting for their leaders to return. They looked grim but prepared.

“We are going in. Black Leaf is in there. Do not kill any police offices, help them if you can. And leave Itachi alone. We will take care of him.” Everyone was nodding. There didn’t seem to be anything else to say.

Sakura made to follow.

“No.” Sasuke’s tone left no room for arguing. “I don’t trust you. I don’t want you in there.”

Indigent glossy lips opened in protest. “No, Sakura-chan he is right. I don’t want you to get hurt.” He tugged playfully on a strand of her hair. “You four.” He indicated the other women. “Stay here and make sure she doesn’t follow us.”

“Ahhh! That is just so…so sexiest!” He flashed her a smile.

“It’s good to be the boss. I can be anything I want. Now you womenfolk be good while your men do some hunting.” Sakura lunged at him but Temari caught her.

She looked back at the other women, they looked blank. The men in front of her looked relived. This was ridiculous.

“This is ridiculous!” Everyone ignored her.

“Try to get some rest Sakura-chan when I get back I’m counting on a year long marathon of sweaty passionate monkey sex.” And then they were gone.

Sakura struggled out of Temari’s hold.

“This is crazy. How can you just let them go? How can you let them leave you behind?”

“Who said we would?”

“But…?”

“We just let them get a head start so they feel better. If you can manage to be patient for a few minutes we’ll follow them then.”

“Oh…ok.” There was an awkward silence and uncomfortable shuffling.

Ino huffed out an irritated breath before stomping over to Sakura and slapping her hard in the face. “I can’t believe you lied to us.”

Temari slung an arm over Hinata’s shoulders. The smaller women looked about to cry.

“We trusted you.” TenTen’s voice was cold and filled with betrayal.

Sakura slumped under their hostility. “I’m a police officer, it was my duty to…”

“Not about that you idiot. Everyone has secrets and it’s obvious you didn’t really dish the dirt on us or we’d all be locked up by now, right?”

“I pegged you for law enforcement the second I saw you walk though that door.” Ino looked haughty.

“Yeah right.” TenTen poked her in the ribs.

Hinata stepped closer to Sakura. “Being a cop was your past, you were already someone different when you met us.”

“If it’s not that then why?” Sakura reached for her swollen cheek.

“How could you lie about Sasuke and Naruto?”

“We asked over and over if being with them is what you really wanted.”

“We didn’t want eany of you getting hurt.”

“And you lied.”

Sakura was struck dumb. They were still worried about her mental well being? They still cared whether she hurt herself in the process of betraying them? “I…I didn’t lie about that. They were they best thing that ever happened to me. Spiral was more of a family then anything I have ever known. Your friendship, our time together meant more to me then I could ever express. I never felt like I belonged until I met you.” The tears had resurfaced.

“You don’t have to cry over it.” Ino examined her nails. “Stop being such a little baby. Everything worked out right?”

“I guess.” Sakura sniffed. “You really don’t hate me?”

“Hate?” Hinata looked slightly confused. “Oh course we don’t hate you.”

“But defiantly upset that you didn’t trust us.” Ino interrupted. “Though there might be a way to urn our forgiveness.”

“Oh?” Sakura looked skeptical. “And what would that entail?”

“Your hair.”

“My hair!?”

“Don’t act like it’s the end of the world. It’ll grow back.”

“But it took me forever to get it this long. It’s the one thing I take pride in.”

“Yeah well a little sacrifice will do your guilty conscious some good. TenTen get a knife out.”

“Right Now!”

“No time like the present.” Hinata added rather cheerfully.

“Fine, fine. Your right just let me…” Snip Snip. A few tendrils of pink fluttered to the floor. Green eyes went wide. “Oh My God. You didn’t even let me say goodbye.”

“Wow. Someone’s a total freak.” Ino rolled her eyes.

Sakura shut up and let TenTen finish mutilating her hair.

“There all done. It doesn’t look so bad.” The brunet was smiling. Sakura grumbled that her neck was itchy.

“Well I think we’ve wasted enough time.”

“Yeah we better get in there before it’s too late.”

They all paused for a moment.

“I am really sorry you guys. You were really good to me. If I can ever do anything for you don’t hesitate to ask.”

Hinata gave her a hug and Temari patted her on the shoulder.

“You just hurry up and get those to crazy assholes back in check. They’re scary as fuck without you to keep them in line. I don’t know how we survived before you came along.”

“I’ll try. I care about them a lot.”

“Try ain’t gunna cut it. But you have us on your side so I wouldn’t worry about it. Boys are pretty easy to manipulate once they don’t have revenge to worry about.”

“You think so?”

“Well they aren’t hard to manipulate if they love you.” TenTen winked.

There wasn’t anything left to same so the five women turned towards fate with open arms and followed their hearts into the darkness of the battlefield.

It was more then dark, it was pitch black. With lots of screaming and bleeding and probably dying but Sakura didn’t want to look that closely. She couldn’t afford to be distracted.

Still snippets of the action seemed to filter into her consciousness.

Temari slipping away to fight along side Chouji against Kankuro.

Kiba sinking his teeth into an arm headed towards his face.

Lee’s death defying acrobatics accelerated to hyper speed.

TenTen knife disappearing into a man’s throat.

Faster the faster the images passed before her eyes.

She found them in a back room, separate from everyone else. A showdown.

Itachi stood relaxed in front on the two heavily breathing men. Sakura inched along the wall until she was behind them.

“This is what my attentions have fostered. You still lack the strength to kill me. It seems that this will always be the case. How disappointing.”

“Shut up. I am so sick of you bitching out this and whining about that. All you do is talk.” Naruto lunged at him.

“You cannot believe that such pathetic attempts would inspire me to do otherwise.” Easily avoiding the attack without moving his feet. “It seems that with only my brother for a sparing partner your skills have deteriorate-” There was a flash of blue light and Itachi was cut of mid sentence.

“Rasengan!” The room exploded in rubble. It was all Sakura could do to avoid being crushed by bits of wall as the dust settled.

Itachi was looking down at his chest in mild surprise his hand slightly raised to the gaping hole that has appeared there. A cheer of triumph didn’t come. Itachi flickered for a moment and then with a small pop, puffed into smoke.

“It seems you were finally able to dispose of my copy. I was getting bored.”

“Maybe you should have just fought us from them beginning then brother.”

“Yeah!” Added an indignant Naruto.

“Why should I if all you were going to do was waste my time? As it stands even the both of you together is now where near a match for me.”

“Oh yeah. Sounds to me like you just afraid to try us.”

“Your inferior brain shows itself once again, Naruto. It seems I will have to interfere once again in your training.”

“You are going to die today, Itachi. For the crimes you committed against our family.”

“Then kill me little brother.”

Sakura watched palms sweaty, biting her tongue as the three men flew from one side of the room to the other. As quick as they were she could still make out that Itachi had the upper hand. Should she do something? Should she step in and add what little strength she could to this fight? It seemed hopeless that her somewhat malnourished ability would in any way tip the scales but she readied her body for action.

She let the flow of the fight suck her in, she knew that if an opportunity presented itself she would be ready and waiting to take it.

And of course it did.

Itachi threw Naruto into a wall turning to pursue him with swirling red eyes. Naruto froze.

“Shit Sasuke. I can’t move.” Itachi’s eyes never moved from Naruto’s but he caught Sasuke’s hand as it swung towards his face.

“Chidori!” Sasuke’s hand crackled to life. The taste of electricity filled the room and the hair on Sakura’s arms rose. This was it. Still looking at Naruto Itachi snapped Sasuke’s wrist but held onto it. The lightening began to grow out of control.

“You need more hatred and less distraction to defeat me, little brother. Lucky for you I’m willing to give you both.” And then slowly Itachi began to force Sasuke’s attack towards the motionless Naruto.

And it was the perfect moment. Naruto couldn’t stop her. Sasuke couldn’t stop her. Itachi couldn’t stop her. They were so wrapped up in each other they hadn’t noticed her and they didn’t until she was suddenly between the Uchiha’s and Naruto.

“I won’t let you break them. I can’t let you win.” Itachi’s concentration broke, she felt Naruto move behind her. But it was too late. Sasuke’s hand was through her chest and all she could feel was the convulsing of her body as wave after wave of power ran through legs before exiting her system into the ground.

Blood poured from her nose and eyes, the smell of burning flesh filled the air.

Naruto howled. Sasuke screamed. Itachi died.

The End

JK….there will be an epilogue. It’s already half written so probably it won’t take as long as this to come out but yeah I’ve defiantly learned not to make promises. Sorry please don’t hate me. OH and there will be a Lemon because I want to leave everyone with a nice citrusy taste in there mouth when this is all over.
