Disclaimer:
I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Just A School Day
Artemis: Well, I just wrote a basic flow of what’s going to happen up till chapter 25. And I discovered…that I was only halfway through the plot. XD Wah, this is the longest story I’ve had planned. >_< I should make this my own, on its own, manga. Just change a few names around. XD But good news is I have it set where Kiba and Lee come in, so yes they will be in this story! Not that Lee wasn’t planned already, but it is official now. ^^ I also have Sasuke and Naruto’s first kiss planned, and it’ll be so cute! =3
*dances happily*
Some of you said Gaara isn’t Gaara-ish. -_-‘ Sorry about that. I’m trying, but most of what I saw of Gaara was his evil side and his quiet side. So I’m trying for his quiet, nice Gaara side. >_< But I guess I still lack at it, neh? Sorry! *bows repeatedly* A few characters are going to end up more OC-ish then others mostly from lack of knowing them in the anime/manga.
And I’m surprised at how many of you didn’t speak up and ask about what I meant when Gaara said Sasuke was like him, and Sasuke disagreed saying he almost was but wasn’t. I figured you’d all be asking what I meant. But I guess you all have your suspicions. You’ll probably realize the real meaning later when I tell Gaara’s story in full. ^^ Or not. =P
Man I want to draw a fanart for this and post it on my DeviantArt…but if I drew what I’m planning it’ll be a plot spoiler. XD

Chapter 11: Just A School Day
“SASUKE!! WAKE UP!!!” Naruto shouted happily, jumping on Sasuke’s stomach the next morning.
Sasuke let out an exhale of half groggy, half surprised air as he was pounced by an overly happy blonde in kitsune pjs. Groaning, he grabbed for a pillow and smacked Naruto over the head with it, before rolling onto his side and hugging the same pillow with a yawn.
“People who are this happy in the morning should be shot…”
Naruto recovered from the pillow strike, sitting up and pouting at Sasuke, “Come on, Sasuke. We’ve got school.”
Sasuke made a muffled sound and snuggled back in his covers.
“Teme, get out of bed this instant or I swear you’ll regret it!”
“It’s a little hard to take a guy seriously when he’s got fox ears and a tail,” Sasuke pointed out, emphasizing Naruto’s sleeping wear.
Naruto looked up at the hood of his pjs which looked like a fox head complete with ears, then down at the two tails, then at Sasuke with puffed out cheeks and a light blush. “Teme…”
Sasuke smirked, able to imagine Naruto’s expression even with his eyes shut. It was hard to believe that just the other day things had been sad and crazy. Now it was all back to normal, like a nightmare that he’d finally woken out of. Sasuke groaned again and forced his eyes open, remembering now that he did have school. Right…back to school and all the make-up studying he’d have to do. That and he was supposed to start his training under Kakashi today.
With these two thoughts in his head, Sasuke pushed himself up into a sitting position and yawned again, scratching his head. “I’m up…I’m up…”
“YEAH!!” Naruto cheered and glomped him, dragging them both down again and making it harder on Sasuke to resist going back to sleep.
Sasuke smiled and wrapped his arms around the blonde, hugging him gently and smiling even more when he heard Naruto let out a noise that was like a small purr. He wasn’t sure, but he was almost certain it had been the start of a purr.
“Come on, dobe,” Sasuke sighed and pushed them both back up, finally noticing with a blush that they had an audience.
Of course…the blush didn’t last to long considering their fellow roomy was also blushing and glaring at the wall. Sasuke had to use all his will power to resist the urge to burst out laughing at poor Gaara, standing there in the doorway dressed in tanuki pajamas that matched the style of Naruto’s kitsune one.
“Laugh and you die,” Gaara growled, his tone edgy.
Sasuke had to bite his thumb to stop himself from laughing just out of Gaara’s reaction to his staring. He stumbled to his feet, excusing himself and heading into the bathroom to compose himself. Meanwhile, Naruto bounced to his feet, smiling cheerfully at Gaara as if nothing was wrong at all with the poor boy wearing such embarrassing pjs.
“Remind me again why I’m awake?” Gaara groaned, not a morning person himself.
“Cause I have to wake Sasuke up and go to school,” Naruto replied innocently.
“But what does that have to do with me?”
Sasuke came back out then, face washed and laughter gone. He looked at the two boys, resisting the laughing smile that was starting to pull at his lips. “Naruto…what is Gaara wearing?”
Naruto grinned and grabbed Gaara’s hand, raising them in the air victoriously, “Matching pjs!!! I bought them when we went shopping for some stuff for him yesterday! Aren’t they awesome?”
Gaara looked less then agreeable about this statement.
Sasuke chuckled, wondering how Naruto had managed to get the male into these pajamas. He was actually a little glad it had been poor Gaara and not him though. He’d have to take the crowbar to Naruto if the blonde ever tried.
“They’re very cutting edge in fashion,” Sasuke finally stated, moving to get dressed and ignoring the light glare from the redhead. “Naruto, get dressed. You can’t go to school like that.”
Naruto blinked and looked at himself, suddenly remembering he wasn’t dressed for school. “WHOOPS! Ok! Be right back!”
Grinning, he rushed out dragging Gaara along with him like some teddy bear. Sasuke watched them take off, then pulled a blue shirt on along with white kakis and headed into the kitchen for some breakfast. He found a plate with some flat pancakes waiting for him there, one half burnt but the rest pretty ok, and he testingly took a bite of one, relaxing when it tasted all right despite being flat. Naruto had gotten better at cooking, especially now that he didn’t put ramen into everything. Albeit, everything he made still seemed pretty flat compared to normal, but he knew Naruto was trying.
Tossing the burnt ones into the trash, he grabbed a glass of milk and sat down at the table to eat. When he finished, he noted Naruto still hadn’t returned and frowned slightly, wondering what was keeping him. He’d probably lost a shoe or something. Sighing, Sasuke cleaned up his dishes and some of the mess Naruto had made in his kitchen, before grabbing his bag and heading outside.
He wandered over and entered Naruto’s apartment with a frown, looking for the blonde.
“Naruto? What’s taking you so lon-aa-WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?”
Naruto was standing there with his head tilted slightly, eyes closed, while Gaara was sucking on his neck! Sasuke felt his blood boil at the sight and his face turn red, gripping his backpack strap in jealous anger. What was that mascara wearing bastard doing to his Naruto!?
Naruto opened his eyes at Sasuke’s exclamation of shock and blinked innocently, then smiled and waved. “HIYA Sasuke! Sorry, be there in a minute!”
Gaara jumped slightly and pulled away, mouth hanging open and eyes wide at being caught. Sasuke saw the blood and turned even redder in anger, heading over ready to kill. Naruto blinked again, then eeped when he realized what was going on here and jumped in Sasuke’s way before he could get to Gaara.
“Sasuke! Sasuke! Woah! It’s ok, teme! Gaara wasn’t hurting me!” Naruto laughed nervously, waving his arms to show he was fine. “See…Gaara needs blood. I’m not sure why, but I told him he could have my blood that way he doesn’t have to hurt anyone!”
Gaara looked away shamefully, wiping his mouth and avoiding Sasuke’s fierce glare.
Sasuke tried to contain himself, steadying his breath before something or someone got hurt. Of course Gaara needed blood. He was that type. To exist, they always needed something to pay off their dept. But still…when he’d seen Gaara and Naruto like that…
Sasuke blushed heavily and huffed, turning away from them both slightly embarrassed at how he’d just reacted. He wasn’t being jealous…he’d just thought Gaara was hurting Naruto.
Naruto sighed and relaxed, seeing things had calmed down slightly and rubbed the back of his neck with an apologetic smile to Gaara. “Sorry bought that. You’ll be ok for the rest of the day, right?”
“Mmm…yeah,” Gaara nodded, still weary of looking Sasuke directly in the eyes at the moment.
“Well…help yourself to the fridge and don’t get sand everywhere! I’ll be home around five, but probably hang out at Sasuke’s place so come over if you like,” Naruto grinned and waved, heading for the door with Sasuke close behind.
Sasuke followed, still edgy from the previous anger that had risen in him. His mood didn’t blow over well either when later, on the way to school, Naruto staggered a little with the excuse of being a bit anemic. No…he did not like having Gaara living with his Naruto, specially is his life dept was blood.
“Morning guys!” Naruto grinned and waved as they entered the classroom.
Hinata and Shikamaru looked up and greeted them as they took their seats and relaxed.
“So…everything’s ok now?” Hinata asked, smiling softly at Sasuke and Naruto.
“YEP!” Naruto grinned, glomping Sasuke around the neck happily.
Shikamaru sighed and laid his head back, “Thank god. The last thing we need around here is more drama.”
Sasuke frowned, looking at Shikamaru curiously, “What do you mean?”
Hinata poked her fingers together nervously and blushed, “Um…we have a new school nurse.”
“He was hitting on Iruka-sensei about five minutes ago,” Shikamaru sighed.
Sasuke sweatdropped slightly, “Really?”
“Did Iruka-sensei kick his ass?” Naruto asked, taking the term ‘hitting on’ literally.
Shikamaru sweatdropped, “No…but he’s close to it.”
Sasuke raised an eyebrow, wondering who in their right mind would hit on a person like Iruka-sensei. The guy was boring, short tempered, and hardly what you would call attractive. And he was their teacher for god’s sake! Teachers don’t fall in love. They’re hardly even human. That’s just weird.
Sasuke’s thoughts immediately braked and turned when Iruka-sensei walked into the class followed by their new school nurse. Sasuke felt the pain only seconds after he allowed his head to flop down on his desk.
Dear god…you have to be joking.
“Kakashi-sensei!” Naruto grinned and waved, surprised and happy to see the older angel there at Sasuke’s school.
“I really don’t see what the problem is,” Kakashi purred, either ignoring or not having heard Naruto. He was following after Iruka like a love-sick puppy, ignoring the angry glare he was getting from the teacher. “All I’m asking for is an innocent little date. You and me, candlelight and music...”
“I said no!” Iruka scowled and blushed, trying to lose Kakashi but having failed miserably. He picked up the classroom roster, attempting to ignore the new staff member. “Good morning, class. Allow me to introduce the new school nurse, Hatake Kakashi.”
Kakashi sighed and looked at the students, spotting his two among them and smiling merrily, “Morning girls and boys.”
Most of the students sweatdropped, not sure of what to make of their new ‘nurse’. Sasuke hadn’t bothered to lift his head. He should have figured that if anyone would hit on someone like Iruka-sensei, it would have to be Hatake Kakashi.
“Now…if Hatake-sama would care to leave, we’ll begin today’s lesson.”
Kakashi smirked playfully and wrapped his arms around Iruka’s waist, “I have no intention of leaving until you agree to go out with me.”
Iruka yelped and pried Kakashi’s arms off, holding them at the other males side, “No means no! Do you realize this could be filed under sexual harassment, Hatake-sama!?”
Kakashi smiled cheerfully, acting as if he hadn’t heard what Iruka had said, “Now, now! There’s no need to address each other so formerly. Feel free to call me Kakashi or even Kakashi-chan.”
“Did you just hear anything I said!?” Iruka yelled at him, his patience close to snapping.
“Would Friday night sound good? Or do you think that’s to far away?” Kakashi asked, continuing to smile in that masked way he always did.
Sasuke sighed and reached up, covering his head with his arm as Iruka lost his temper and starting yelling threats at Kakashi in an attempt to get through that thick head. Naruto blinked, confused by his former sensei’s odd behavior and leaned down to look up at Sasuke from under his arm.
“Is Kakashi-sensei and Iruka-sensei playing some sort of game?”
Sasuke opened his eyes and looked at Naruto, feeling a little exasperated, “No. Kakashi’s just being a horny dumbass.”
Naruto still wasn’t sure what Sasuke meant by that, but he shrugged and accepted the explanation anyways.
“God, I give up!” Iruka finally exclaimed, slumping into his seat and resting his head in his hand exhaustedly.
Kakashi crouched and rest his elbows on the desk, staring adoringly at Iruka, “Has anyone ever told you you’re adorable when you’re angry?”
“I hate you…” Iruka growled, glaring sideways at the silver haired man.
Kakashi picked up a slinky that was on Iruka’s desk and played around with it, “By the way, I need to remove two of your students from class for the day. Uzumaki Naruto, who needs his physical, and Uchiha Sasuke, who looks a little ill over there and is also due for his physical.”
Iruka snatched the slinky away, a vein on his forehead throbbing slightly, “Fine. Just leave already!”
“Arigatou, Iruka-chan!” Kakashi purred, pressing a masked kiss to the brunette’s head before standing. “Naruto! Sasuke! This way. See you Friday night, little dolphin.”
Kakashi quickly ran out as Iruka stood, blushing heavily and looking ready to strangle him. Sasuke sighed and stood, grabbing Naruto’s wrist and quickly leaving with the knowledge that Iruka-sensei would take out his current mood on the class. Sure enough when he stepped out he could practically hear Iruka announce a pop quiz.
Sighing, Sasuke turned his head to see Kakashi standing there waiting for them.
“What are you doing?” Sasuke asked, trying not to let his irritation show to much.
Kakashi smiled innocently enough, “Taking you to your first lesson as promised.”
Sasuke narrowed his eyes in annoyance, “That’s not what I’m talking about.”
Kakashi feigned ignorance with a shrug and started for the stairs. “Come along you two. We’ve only got seven hours and there’s so much to do.”
Naruto frowned and ran after Kakashi with Sasuke in tow. “Neh, Kakashi-sensei? What’s this about lessons? I already graduated from school.”
“These are extra lessons. You showed great strength back at the stadium, and the council has decided to allow you further education,” Kakashi replied simply, opening the door to the school roof and stepping out into the sunlight.
Naruto grinned proudly at that, then let out a joyful cry when he spotted Gaara sitting by the water cooler waiting for them and ran over to say hi.
Sasuke frowned as the roof door closed behind them, noticing Kakashi toss his nurse coat aside and make a few motions with his hand. “Wait…we’re doing this here? On the school roof?”
Kakashi finished the seal before smiling at Sasuke, “Don’t worry. I placed a shield around us that’s makes us invisible to human eyes outside of it, so no one will see us.”
Sasuke slumped a little, not sure if this was such a good idea anymore.
Naruto walked back over to him and knelt, pulling something about of his bag, “Neh Sasuke! I got these for you.”
Sasuke watched as Naruto pulled out two warm looking white clothes and turned, slipping one each onto his arms. His eyes widened just a little, realizing they were sleeve-like arm warmers.
Naruto tightened and adjusted the buckles to fit snuggly to Sasuke’s arm width, smiling at him when he was done. “It’s still a little chilly out. Heh, they look good on you.”
Sasuke tinted slightly and examined them, before hugging Naruto to him, “Thank you, Naruto. I like them.”
Naruto smiled, hugging back happily.
“That’s just so cute,” Kakashi purred, again ruining the mood.
Sasuke and Naruto both blushed and broke the hug, Sasuke glaring hatefully up at Kakashi. Kakashi just smiled back, ignoring the waves of killing intent from Sasuke. He knew the kid needed him, so there was his immunity.
“All right. First of all will be Naruto and Gaara. We’re going to focus on the element of your natural chakra,” Kakashi announced, settling into instructor mode. “Naruto, you’ll be tasked with learning a new technique while Gaara, you’re job will be to work on the exercise I’m going to show that should help greatly increase your ability to control your chakra.”
“All right! A new technique!” Naruto cheered in excitement, jumping to his feet. “It’s a super cool one, right?”
Gaara remained quiet, playing the attentive student.
“I think you’ll like this technique, Naruto. It’s very flexible, with many uses both in battle and…well, I’ll let you use your imagination for now.”
Sasuke sighed and crossed his arms, enjoying Naruto’s gift to him and watching Kakashi try and show Naruto a series of odd motions with his hands. After only five minutes, Naruto seemed to have the series of motions down and was left to his own devices. Kakashi moved to Gaara and started to talk to him, something that took a good half hour of back and forth conversation, before Kakashi left Gaara and walked over to where Sasuke sat.
“Well…now that they’re all set, we can focus on your training,” Kakashi smiled, sitting down beside Sasuke. “First, let’s check and see what element your chakra is. That way we can better establish what techniques and training would be best to bring out your true potential.”
“My element? How are we supposed to do that?” Sasuke asked, but quieted and closed one eye reflexively as Kakashi pressed his hand against his forehead.
Kakashi closed his eyes, staying like that for quite some time. After a while he pulled away and looked at Sasuke silently, contemplating something.
Sasuke felt a little self-conscious under the gaze and shifted, frowning, “What?”
“Hm? Oh nothing,” Kakashi smiled and seemed to snap back to himself, crossing his arms. “Well, looks like you’re fire element. Considering you’re personality, I’m not too surprised. This is good. I happen to know a handful of useful and strong techniques that you’ll be able to learn.”
“Then I’ll be able to protect Naruto, right?” Sasuke confirmed, liking the idea. Fire had always been something he’d liked. Whether for its warmth or its beauty, its power or its symbolism, it was his favorite element and apparently for good reason.
“Yep. I think I may be able to teach you a few lightning techniques as well. But first, we’ve got to see if you can even use chakra,” Kakashi stood, dusting off his pants.
Sasuke stood as well, determined to succeed. No matter what, he had to learn to fight and use chakra. He had to be able to face whatever came after them to take Naruto away. He wasn’t going to sit around being the dead log forever.
Later that day, Sasuke stumbled home, thoroughly exhausted and slightly annoyed. His reason being the three Naruto’s chatting around him all at once, the original one riding on his back having collapsed from lack of blood and overexertion.
“Neh, Sasuke! It’s awesome you can use chakra even though you’re not dead!”
“I’m hungry! Let’s have ramen!”
“Sasuke, how’d you do that thing back on the roof with the-“
“RAMENNNNNN.”
“Sasuke-“
“Ramen! Ramen! Ramen!”
Sasuke groaned and slammed his door in the face of the other copies, collapsing on his bed with the real Naruto.
Memo to self, kill Kakashi for teaching Naruto a duplication technique.
***word dictionary***
tanuki - for those who don't know. A tanuki is a japanese racoon-dog, most scene in folklore and mythology. Shukaku is a one-tailed tanuki...so he's a racoon-dog, not a racoon, though they are somewhat similar. ^^
Arigatou - (possibly may have sp wrong ^^') means "thank you"
glomp - something I haven't explained, but there are people that don't know what a glomp is. A glomp is a fangirl/boy hug where you pretty much tackle the person and hug them tightly. Often times the victim of said glomp loses footing and falls to the floor. It is the extreme version of a hug. ^^
***Notes***
Sasuke/arm warmers - Yesh! Sasuke is now complete. XD He has his arm thingies, a present from Naruto-chan. ^^
Sasuke's lesson - I'm lazy and I suck at typing chakra training, plus I think it would have been slightly boring and I don't know how to show Sasuke figuring out how to use chakra. So I cut that off and went from the roof to the end of the day. XP Just know, Sasuke is learning under Kakashi now and can use chakra.
Naruto/Kage Bunshin - Yesh. Naruto in this story has his Kage bunshin no jutsu by learning it from Kakashi. =3
Gaara/Tanuki - much love to the first person to draw Gaara in a tanuki pj pita-ten style. XD
fire - I love fire. ^^ Fire and wind. ^^
***reviewer responses***
Nomme de Plume - I stated in chapter three, then again during part 2 of the stadium battle chapter, where Sasuke mentions his ability to see spirits and onis since childhood. That ability he shares with Neji, yes, but the headache itself is different. For Neji, he gets a headache from all paranormal beings. For Sasuke, he gets a headache only around Gaara's kind. (not saying what he is ^^) Sasuke has also met Gaara's kind before, so he knows that's what his headache means. And Neji fighting...yes...he will get to play a part in this. ^^
littleolmee - yep, yep! ^^
Anna - Heh...I lazied on the actually teaching thing. mostly cause I suck with teaching scenes. Sorry. ^^'
Tati - Of course there is Iruka/Kakashi. ^^
CommGonn - updating is fast cause people begin to expect fast updates all the time, then get angry when you don't. -_-
bloodyrose - I may do a yugioh story. ^^ I just may. *shrugs*
MissMayumi - sorry he's not bad boyish. ^^' I don't get to see a lot of Gaara, so doing his personality is basicly walk on ice for me.
Miko hanyou - lots of hugging. ^^'
Cesia - I'm glad my story is all of that. Thank you very much. ^^
Artume - Sasuke jealous rules!! XD
BrokenSouledPoetess (NSI) - *looks at poor squished Gaara* Well, hope this chapter really made you're Gaara-fanside squeal. XD
Passing Reader - ^_^ And hey, Naruto loves Sasuke's attention. He's always got it. So suddenly not having it might make Naruto pine for it. ^^
Yuri-san - O.O That's wow. Well, this should be your firsty? ^^ Gaara/Lee... *huggles em* And yes, rollercoaster is good. ^^ Was Gaara wonderful in this chap with his pjs? XD
innerchild - Gaara was even cuter here in his pjs. XD
Splooosh in a Ramen bowl!!! - you and your evil name. XP Fast updates can be bad when people begin to expect it all the time though. =(
Donedin - ^^ Kakashi rules in the pervert/innocent genre. XD And sorry, but Lee is super tight nono. *grins evilly* ^^ Just like Gaara was. ^^
*dances happily*
