Who Needs Bells?
The next morning Naruto arrives at the training field after completing his usual fifty laps around the village and sits down under a tree as he watches Sasuke and Sakura slowly make their way over towards him. “Anyone hungry?” he asks as he pulls out three bento boxes from the bag he was carrying. “From what Raven-niisan said last night we’ve got a few hours until Kakashi-sensei shows up.”
“What do you mean a few hours?” Sakura asks as she sits down and picks up one of the boxes.
“Raven-niisan let it slip that part of the test was to make sure we were so tired and hungry that we couldn’t think straight,” Naruto tells them as he hands Sasuke one of the other boxes.
“That’s just mean,” Sakura says as they all open their boxes and begin to eat.
“What else did this Niisan of yours tell you?” Sasuke asks between bites of his breakfast.
“Nothing really,” Naruto replies as he finishes his meal and puts it back in the bag. “He did get me some new supplies though,” he grins evilly as he pulls two scrolls out of his coat pocket, “And he also said that we should always make sure to remind Kakashi that it’s a bad idea to keep us waiting.”
“What do you have in mind?” Sakura asks as she moves closer to Naruto so she can see what he’s doing. Her eyes widen slightly at the detailed drawings and plans on the scroll, which is obviously an instructional guide to setting and using traps. ‘Hehe… I’m going to love this,’ Inner Sakura giggles.
“Well since I found out that Kakashi-sensei intentionally set off my traps just to see how they worked,” Naruto nearly growls, “I say we do something regret setting off.”
“He intentionally set them off?” Sasuke asks almost smugly. ‘I knew there was no way a Jounin would fall for such simple traps,’ he thinks to himself.
“Yeah,” Naruto grumbles, “Apparently he was standing behind the door listening to me talking while I was setting them up,” he tells them. “He heard me mention that those were the last of the tags she had left me and since he knew her he set them both off so I wouldn’t feel too bad about using them.”

“Well this should be fun to watch,” the Hokage chuckles as he watches Team Seven through his crystal ball. “Kakashi’s going to be in for a real treat when he gets there.”

Indeed Kakashi was in for a treat when he finally arrives at the Training Field only to find his team sleeping under a tree. ‘The nerve of them,’ he thinks, ‘Well looks like I have to wake them up.’ As Kakashi leans over the sleeping Genin reaches out to tickle Naruto’s nose only to feel a sudden tug on his leg before he finds himself caught in a simple snare trap.
“Clever,” he says before drawing a kunai from his side and cutting the rope before landing safely only to find the ground give out on him causing him to fall into a pit trap. He quickly teleports out of the trap and into the tree about his students only for the branch to give way causing him to leap to the ground causing an electric current to run up through his body. He is momentarily paralyzed and unable to avoid the lassos that ensnare his arms and legs causing him to fall to the ground before a powerful fist render him unconscious.

When Kakashi finally wakes up he finds himself hanging upside down by his feet with his hands tied behind his back. Looking down he is momentarily blinded by a flash of light from the camera Naruto uses to snap a picture before handing the camera to a massive white wolf that takes off running from the field. “Don’t worry Kakashi-sensei,” Naruto says, “Raven-niisan will keep the photo safe for you. Now then if you want this back,” he says holding up a piece of black cloth that Kakashi instantly recognizes as his mask. “You’ll apologize for being late,” he tells the man, “And unless you want that picture plastered all over the village you’ll never show up late for another meeting without a legitimate reason again.”
“Fine,” Kakashi agree, “But first tell me how I ended up like this.”
“No problem,” Naruto grins, “Sakura, tell the man how we did it.”
“Okay,” Sakura smiles proudly. “First you fell for my Genjutsu of the three of us sleeping,” she tells him. “Then you stepped into Naruto’s snare trap. After that you fell for both my pitfall trap and broken branch Genjutsus before landing on one of Naruto’s electric tags which allowed Sasuke-kun to lasso your arms and legs so that Naruto could knock you out.”
“Impressive,” Kakashi tells them, “Well I’d say that you passed your Final Exam without even taking it.” Naruto and Sakura begin to cheer while Sasuke merely grins as Kakashi easily frees himself since they hadn’t tied him up too tightly. “The point of the Exam was to see if you three could work together as a team but after what you just did I think it’s safe to say that you three would have passed with flying colors. Meet me here tomorrow at nine and we’ll begin our first mission as a Team. Oh and Naruto can I have my mask back please?”

A/N: I’m going to end this short chapter here since I think I need a breather before I start the Land of Wave Arch. Sorry but even I thought that whole prank was funny and since they did all work together to capture him I didn’t see any reason to continue with the bell test, sorry to disappoint everyone. I know I said I’d try to keep this close to Cannon and I did have a proper bell test chapter planned out in my mind but as I got to writing it I thought this would work better and it was certainly funnier.
