Sasuke woke up to a warm bed with a smile on his face. ‘Finally, my Naruto. Everything is right in the world and it’s going to be a great day,’ he thought with the biggest grin an Uchiha had ever sported.
He sat up and threw a leg over the side of the bed. “Ahh!” Sasuke winced at the pain that shot up from his rear and up to his back. That was going to sting awhile. He bit his lip as he pulled himself out of the bed and picked up his clothes from the floor. Exactly how did someone greet their new boyfriend in the morning. He might as well get dressed he thought. Naruto might be embarrassed now that he wasn’t drunk. Sasuke froze in the act of gingerly putting his legs into his pants. Drunk?! He quickly finished pulling on his pants, now ignoring the pain, and turned back toward the bed.
Naruto was beginning to stir and stretch in the bed. He looked around as his eyes focused; this wasn’t his room. “Hey where…” Naruto sat up quickly and spotted the Uchiha. “Oh, hey Sasuke,” he smiled. “How’d I get here? That must have been some party, I don’t remember coming to your place.”
Naruto was looking around the room and didn’t notice that Sasuke suddenly looked like someone had slapped him. “You… You don’t remember?”
Naruto turned back to his friend with a confused look, “Huh?”
Sasuke schooled his features and brought his hand to his mouth. “You don’t remember Sakura and Hinata fighting over you?” he mumbled against his hand.
Shock and disappointment flitted across Naruto’s features. “Girls were fighting over ME?! Aw man, and I can’t remember,” he whined.
Sasuke’s mind was reeling as he tried not do show his disappointment. That was at the party. If he didn’t remember that, he definitely wouldn’t remember later! DAMN IT! He bit his lip to keep from screaming out the curse.
Oblivious to Sasuke’s turmoil, Naruto was trying to deal with his own newfound problem. “Hey, Teme,” Naruto asked picking up the sheet and taking a peek at himself. “Where are my clothes?”
Sasuke turned so Naruto wouldn’t see the blush that was creeping up his face. “You… You were real drunk last night. You must have gotten hot.”
“Oh. Here they are!” Naruto exclaimed happily. “Wait. Why is my shirt cut in half?!”
“Kunai,” Sasuke stated plainly.
“Next time I get drunk, take my weapons away, okay.” Sasuke nodded, looking everywhere but at the blonde.
A knock at the door interrupted the embarrassing conversation and Sasuke was all too happy to go answer it. Sasuke turned carefully and stoically walked to the front door to jerked it open. Sakura. Well there went his moment of happiness.
Sakura stood at the open door with a familiar grin on her face, but she wasn’t looking at him. She kept peeking around his shoulders as she spoke, “Good morning Sasuke. I already went to Naruto’s place and he wasn’t there so I figured you brought him here last night. Is he awake?”
“He’s in the guestroom,” Sasuke said moving from the door to lead the way. They entered the room to find Naruto sitting on the edge of the bed, dressed minus his shirt. He had the remnants in his hand and was looking at them as if trying to figure out what to do with it.
He looked up and ask, “Hey Sasuke, can I barrow a shirt. Oh, Sakura-chan.” He smiled largely at her. “Good Morning!”
“Naruto? What happened to your shirt?” she asked rushing over to him.
Sasuke turned to go get Naruto a shirt and heard Naruto telling Sakura something about the perils drinking too much and being a ninja. Sasuke stomped over to his closet and jerked the door open forcefully. He was rewarded with another sharp pain for his movements. So much for his great fucking day he thought as he rifled through the clothes. He grabbed a plain black shirt and then stopped. Naruto was his damn it! He quickly snatched a shirt that had a small Uchiha fan on the collar and headed back to the room.
He reached the door and was about to call out, when he was assaulted by the sight in front of him. Naruto and Sakura were engaged in a heated embrace. Sasuke stared in horrified fascination. Their eyes were closed as their lips moved slowly together. Naruto’s arms were wrapped around her and Sakura was pressed against his naked chest.
Sasuke back out of the room and moved down the hallway. He leaned his head back against the wall and wondered how he could feel his heart drop and his blood boil at the same time. He wanted to rush back into the room, grab that pink hair, throw her out of his house, and reclaim his blonde. But Naruto looked really happy when he was with her. Maybe last night was just a small gift from the gods so he could have a taste of Naruto before he completely belonged to Sakura. It was probably a good thing Naruto didn’t remember last night; he would be torn between loyalties.
Sasuke took a deep breath to regain his composure. As long as Naruto was happy, he could be happy. He pushed away from the wall and started talking to them from his position down the hall. “Hey dobe. Here’s a shirt,” he said as he entered the room.
He could almost believe he had imagined the whole scene. Sakura now stood looking out the window and Naruto was re-seated on the bed. Almost, but for that big stupid grin that Naruto was sporting. Sasuke threw the shirt at him as hard as he could. Unfortunately, shirts don’t fly too fast and it just fluttered to his lap.
Sasuke wanted to stomp, he wanted scream. He wanted to hit a pinky and a blonde! He turned calmly and left the room to go make breakfast.
-----------
Sasuke was leaning against a building watching Naruto and Sakura shopping, when he felt the strong present behind him.
“You look more sullen then usual, if that’s possible,” Tsunade observed as she walked up to the raven.
“It’s nothing,” he grumbled closing his eyes and leaning back.
Tsunade looked across the street to the couple the boy had been obviously been watching. “Well Naruto seems happy. The council will be pleased.”
“Why would they care?” he asked looking up into brown eyes. “Weren’t some of them opposing the secession?”
Tsunade sighed and waved off the concerns, “It has to do with his heritage but…” She glanced at the blonde then turned back to the Uchiha. “They want him married as soon as possible.”
“MARRIED?!?!” Sasuke cried out almost losing his footing.
“Why sound so shocked, most of the shinobi in your age group are already married.” Tsunade shook her had as she watched the stunned man. Team Seven must have been made up of late bloomers.
“But… I’ve never heard of the council requiring a Hokage to marry.”
“Sasuke listen. There is going to be an announcement at the succession ceremony that Naruto knows nothing about. As Naruto’s best friend, and don’t bother denying it, you should be the one to tell him. I don’t want them to surprise him with this.”
“About the marriage plans?” Sasuke look terrified at the thought of telling his friend the council was ordering him to get married.
“About his heritage.” She was beginning to get very frustrated with this uncharacteristic Uchiha.
“I thought he was an orphan,” Sasuke asked confused.
“He is, but no one ever told him who his real family was. Yondaime was Naruto’s father,” she finished quickly.
“That’s why the elders won’t oppose him?” he said putting the pieces together.
“Exactly.”
“How… How…” Sasuke paused thinking.
“How can that be?” Tsunade tried to finish for him.
“How didn’t anyone notice?!” he proclaimed bringing an image of both smiling blondes to his mind.
“Ack!” It was Tsunade turn to fall over. “Good question,” she said regaining her composure, “But I think it was the hatred of the Kyuubi. Ohh!” she clasped a hand over her mouth at what she just let slip but it was already too late.
Sasuke shook his head at the antics of the blonde woman. “I already know.” He continued when she looked at him inquiringly, “He really kicked my ass once.”
-----
“Ne, Sasuke! Isn’t this great?” Naruto exclaimed walking down the streets of Konoha next to his friend.
Tsunade had met up with him outside the hospital, after he had dropped Sakura off. She let him know that the council had finally conceded to the fact he deserved to be Hokage. He was so happy but after she left he didn’t have anyone to share the news with. Sakura was working and he didn’t know where to find the Teme. But Sasuke had found him just as he was getting ready to go into his apartment, it was perfect timing.
“Things are finally falling into place. I’ve earned the title of Rokudaime and Sakura’s is finally my girl!” He exclaimed to the raven. It was great to be back on good terms with his friend.
“Yea, soon you’ll be married and have kids,” Sasuke grumbled as they walked.
“Ma… Ma… Married!!! We just started dating! I’m not ready for kids!” Naruto stepped back with a terrified expression on his face.
“Forget it dobe. Listen, I’ve got something to talk to you about. Let’s go for a walk,” Sasuke said as he quickened his pace and headed outside the gates.
“Walk?” Naruto questioned as he followed him into the woods. “Sasuke, what is it?”
Sasuke paused when they had reached a small clearing. “Have you ever wondered who your parents were?”
“Sure, any orphan would.” Naruto tried to look at the raven’s face for any sign of where this was heading but Sasuke seemed to be studying his feet.
“Well, Tsunade-sama found out and thought I should be the one to tell you.” Sasuke finally looked up to see a stunned Naruto. “It’s going to be announced at the succession ceremony and she didn’t want you to be caught off guard,” he said side stepping closer to the blonde.
“Wha… Why would it be announced?” Naruto asked confused. Understanding dawned on the boy and he grabbed Sasuke by his vest. It had to be someone very bad, or… “Who?”
“Yondaime.”
Naruto let go of Sasuke’s vest and slumped to the ground. “Why?” he asked weakly.
“Why didn’t anyone notice?” Sasuke asked trying to lighten his friend mood.
“WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME!!!” he screamed up to the sky. “Why did they hide it?! I went through so much. The villagers wouldn’t have done that to the son of Yondaime!”
“Naruto!” Sasuke crouched down to grab Naruto’s shoulders and shake him. “They still would have to the Kyuubi.” Sasuke saw the pain flash in Naruto eyes. “And then everyone would have looked down on the fourth for doing that to his only son.”
“Only… I… I have to see Sakura,” he said standing up and started to run back toward the village.
“Sakura?! Naruto!!!” Naruto paused on the path and looked back to his dark haired friend. “Does she know about Kyuubi, would she still love you?” he questioned the blonde. Naruto gasped and began running again but this time deeper into the forest, away from the village. “Like I do.” Sasuke whispered to the empty road.
