The roar of the crowd was deafening. The entire village had turned out for the event. Shino stood at the back of the Hokage tower balcony as he looked over his lover of seven years wearing the same robes his father wore, white with red flames licking at the bottom. His mother had slaved and fussed over them every possible moment since the announcement, but it had been well worth the effort. He looked ruggedly handsome in them, the perfect combination of Hokage and Sage in one flawless package.
Naruto waved to the crowd and gave them that Cheshire grin that made everyone that met him fall in love. Shino was no different from the rest of them, most of the time he was in complete awe. The hat came off suddenly and Naruto shook his hair out in an unconsciously sensual action that made the crowd cheer, but underneath Shino could have sworn that he heard subtly whispered sigh flow as an undercurrent that made him smirk. Naruto was all his.
“He made the right choice.” Sasuke said with a contented smile as he stood next to Shino.
“I like to think so.” Shino smiled contentedly.
Three children with wild black hair and pale beautiful skin suddenly ran between the two men to tackle the new Hokage. He smiled down at them and put his hat on the tallest boy, and picked up the twin boy and girl in his arms. Sasuke looked on the scene with warm eyes that spoke of love in ways he’d never dreamed possible, and the volume from below only grew louder.
It was the most amazing moment of their lives and nothing but the future before them without the plagues of the past to haunt them anymore.
