Twisted Eve (Itachi/Naruto)

Itachi approached the small house coming to a stop next to a blond-haired male. “What’s wrong Naruto?”

“You turned me,” Naruto spoke calmly.

“You promised,” Itachi spoke blankly. “And at least the ghosts don’t bother you anymore.”

“That’s not the problem,” Naruto added. “The problem is I can’t get into my own house now.”

Flashback

Naruto walked away from the male as quickly as he could, ignoring the yelling. He wasn’t one to ignore people, however, when the man started yelling a vampire killed him just for trying to stake him he decided the person was in fact a crazy man and there was no reason to listen to him.

He had more important things to do like get seals from the old priestess that lived near him. It was almost Halloween; he needed them every year this night. Because for some reason, this time of the year the ghosts really liked to bother him. And after his run in last year with a psycho one named Kyuubi, who threw him through a window, he decided no more helping ghosts on Halloween. It was best to keep them far away from him, or at least outside his house, where he could use a pair of earplugs and pretend for one night that he was in fact a normal man.

Because, he fucking hated being a necromancer sometimes. Kyuubi had almost killed him. If Naruto hadn’t managed to find the strength to push him into the other side—push him back to hell—he would be dead. He would have died because the crazy poltergeist was coming at him with a butcher knife after throwing him out of a window. Thankfully, it wasn’t a long fall to the ground. That ghost freaked him out for a very long time.

Naruto stopped dead in his tracks. . . Okay, so, maybe the ghost yelling about a vampire wasn’t too crazy. If he could be a necromancer, who was to say vampires weren’t real?

Naruto shivered slightly at the thought—as if he didn’t have enough to worry over. He didn’t need to think bloodsuckers were real, because if they were, who was to say they weren’t the only things out there, and he didn’t need anymore shit in his life. Still he found himself looking over his shoulder. However, the male was already gone.

He shook his head clearing it of all the thoughts as he headed home. Surly it was just some crazy ghost wanting attention. For being dead, they could be attention whores, or maybe that was too cruel of a thing to think about. They were dead after all. He guessed he wouldn’t want to be forgotten when he was gone. However, out of respect for his own feelings he sure as hell wouldn’t bug the living. He knew how he felt when he was out shopping or at work, having ghosts trying to talk to him all the time drove him crazy. He thought one too many times about having himself committed. The drugs may not help but he would be to out of it to give a shit.

Naruto tried to clear his thoughts—thinking like that was getting depressing, and with Halloween tomorrow, he didn’t need depressing thoughts.

Naruto took a shortcut through an old park to get home when the ghost caught him off guard making him fall back. Palms scraping the ground making him wince.

“Look I’m sorry a vampire killed you okay. Maybe you should have thought about what would happen if you failed to drive a piece of wood through his heart. Because, I think anyone would act on the defensive if they woke to a guy hovering over them with a fucking stake!” Naruto didn’t mean to yell, or to be rude. But, fuck, it drove him crazy when they surprised him like this. He breathed heavily as the person with rugged facial hair just stared at him as if he was the idiot.

‘He’s a monster; vampires are monsters,’ was the only reply he received.

Naruto responded by falling back on the ground, covering his face with his arms. “Just go away, please. I cant help you, I don’t know what you want me to do.” He was tired of it. All the ghosts were enough at times making him wish it was the other way around… no, he didn’t—he just wished they would leave him alone once in awhile…

Naruto didn’t get a response, and after a few minutes, he peeked through his arms finding a male leaning over him arching a thin brow. He retorted with a nervous smile. “Uh, I slipped and well. . . “His voice trailed off not sure of what to respond with. There wasn’t much he could say about laying on the ground in a park.

“Well,” the male smirked, extending his hand to him, which Naruto quickly accepted.

“Thanks.” He should be grateful at least the ghost wasn’t bothering him. This person helped him up so he was normal. He could cry out in happiness.

“Itachi.” Naruto shifted a bit he wasn’t actually asking. It was rude not to respond, right?

“Naruto.” It was a first conversation with a normal person, one that wasn’t dead. He hadn’t had one of these in a few weeks. Oh, gods, the ghosts were turning him into a hermit.

“Well Naruto I’m a bit lost would you mind showing me around a bit?”

Naruto shifted a bit, he had a lot to do, but it was a normal human—living, breathing—being talking to him! And he couldn’t let the person walk around this city alone. He lived here his whole life and he still got lost on occasion. “Maybe just a bit. Sorry I got some stuff to do.” A few moments of normal conversation and maybe he won’t feel so crazy. A few brief minutes of sanity wasn’t too much to ask for right?

He deserved it.

Itachi nodded. “Alright, I don’t want to keep you from anything important.”

Naruto chatted about random things, the best places to shop and eat as he showed Itachi around the city. It was hard to chat about life here then stop too quickly and tell him about where they were and why it was a good grocery store or a good gym (smaller than the others were, but the owners were nice).

He even showed Itachi to a small bookshop. He wasn’t sure but Itachi seemed like the type who liked to read. He felt like he was rushing it, but he couldn’t help it. He wanted to get home before any ghosts started to bother him.

Still the worry would slip from his mind every few moments only to return tenfold every time they rounded a corner. However, somehow, he managed to keep the conversation going.

He learned Itachi just moved here and was still getting a feel for things. The other male seemed interesting and sexy—sexy was a plus. Not that Naruto would say anything; they just met after all. And he didn’t have time to worry about a sexy person talking to him.

“This is my favorite place.” Naruto stopped in the small park. He wasn’t sure how they got here; he was just letting his feet lead the way. He hadn’t intended to be out this long, and he knew should hurry, but it didn’t change the fact that they were here.

“It’s a nice place.” Itachi briefly looked over the small wooded area with a bench in the center, but his eyes kept slipping towards Naruto. It was a much better view; it was very much worth going into the park this afternoon.

Itachi smirked when Naruto started shifting. He wasn’t ready to let the male go. But he knew Naruto was in a hurry. Besides, soon he wouldn’t have to let Naruto go. "Naruto shall we finish the tour another time?" He watched the other carefully noting the tension was still in the blond’s shoulders, but Naruto smiled and nodded. "You can call me whenever."

***

Naruto smiled as he walked to his apartment, a little sad his night with Itachi had ended. He almost forgot what it felt like to talk with someone and not have people stare at you as if you lost your mind.

‘Why would such a hottie want to hangout with you?’

Naruto groaned as he started up his driveway. These girls again? Anytime Naruto met someone they showed up spitting insults and anything else they could think of to put him down. And every time he tried to push them to the other side, they came back.

‘You are a freak after all.’

“Urgh.” Naruto rolled his eyes. He needed to get these seals up. He went on ignoring their insults as he nearly ran around his single story home, placing the seals everywhere. He didn’t want to deal with anything for the rest of the day and enjoy the fact that Itachi actually talked with him. Not many people in town would; they all thought he was crazy. It was probably a good thing that Itachi just moved here.

Naruto tensed, relaxing as fast as it happened when he realized it was just the phone. He made his way to the phone clutching what was left of the seals in his left hand. He needed to take his paranoia down a few notches.

“Hello.” He just wanted to finish and then hide away in his room until Halloween was over.

“Naruto?”

“Itachi?” Naruto smiled. Score one for him; what would those stupid girls say now. He would love to be able to rub it in their faces that Itachi had called him. But, he wasn’t about to go outside—it wasn’t worth a few moments of gloating.

“I was wondering if you were free for a party, my way of thanking you.”

Naruto grimaced. A party? This time of the year? Well, of course, people normally didn’t have to worry about killer poltergeists. “Well you see.” its not as if he could explain this to Itachi, he didn’t know what to say.

“If you don’t like parties, perhaps something else?”

It wasn’t that he didn’t like parties. “Ah, what do you have in mind?” Why was he agreeing? He had a lot to do to prepare for Halloween, yet he was agreeing to dinner tomorrow night. He couldn’t help it, that sexy voice. Surly Itachi always got what he wanted.

Not that Naruto minded. He just had an eerie feeling of bad luck and timing. He briefly heard 7:00 tomorrow night at a restaurant he scrambled for something to write on before agreeing and hanging up. Then he realized the dinner date was on the worst night of the year…

He could cancel. He didn’t want too, but, if he went out on Halloween, it could end badly for him. It was only one dinner date… only one… on the worse day of his life. And when he told Itachi “whenever” he didn’t think it would be so soon.

Naruto paced his living room. He wanted to go out with Itachi. It may have been only one day they spent together, but he liked the older male. Maybe he just enjoyed human contact with the living—he couldn’t say. He wanted to go. But he knew better. Unless he could get to Tsunade and get some charms. And he didn’t know if they would even help.

This was the outside world. If it was his home or a small place, he could use seals. But he didn’t have time nor did Tsunade have enough seals on such short notice. Would the charms help? Would he risk it? He wanted too. Yet he didn’t because of the ghosts. No, he would... He couldn’t ... But he would… Even he deserved to have some fun, right? Even if it could possibly, and most likely, turn into a nightmare.

***

His knuckles were white as he gripped his bag of charms tightly, his nervousness getting the better of him. Still, he felt paranoid looking over his shoulder and around corners. Just waiting for something to happen—it was Halloween and the deranged poltergeists liked to come out and play with him in a none-to-friendly way. He knew this was a bad idea, yet he couldn’t bring himself to go home. As cheesy as it sounded, it was like some kind of mantic pull. It was weird but the least of his worries. He knew right now he looked like he was paranoid—because he was—but that didn’t mean he had to look like it.

Naruto grunted as he entered the restaurant. He hoped he made it through the night alive with what little sanity he had left still intact. He tried to reason with himself that it would be okay, but he wasn’t so sure about that.

Naruto almost dropped his bag when he felt a hand on his back. His panic settling a bit when he realized it was Itachi. He tried to hide his nervousness behind his smile as he greeted the older male.

Naruto sat down across from Itachi with a smile on his face. He tried to control his paranoia but every little noise had him on edge.

“Huh?” He didn’t mean to ignore Itachi but realized he hadn’t been paying attention.

“Are you okay Naruto?”

Naruto nodded, though, he was far from okay. He couldn’t let on that he was expecting a ghost to try to kill him. Itachi continued speaking, however, he just couldn’t focus. He was so sure something would happen. Something always happened on Halloween. He jumped slightly when the waiter handed him a knife, ‘Great something for them to stab me with.’

“Naruto?”

He looked up to find Itachi’s curios gaze on him. “Sorry I kind of spaced.” He smiled as he looked down, finding steak in front of him.

“I ordered for you since you didn’t answer the waiter.” Shit, Itachi must think he was an ass, ignoring him and the waiters.

“Sorry and thanks.” He was an ass and surely on the verge of ruining the night. He needed to calm down he didn’t want Itachi thinking he was a nut case. It was probably too late for that since he kept looking around the room every few minutes.
Itachi chuckled under his breath as he watched Naruto. The other male was extremely tensed and edgy; it was amusing to him. Even if he was being ignored, he couldn’t wait to get Naruto alone.

He watched Naruto try to hide anything sharp under napkins—head shaking—as Naruto would shift every few seconds, trying to discreetly glance around the room. “Would you like to go elsewhere Naruto?”

Yes, oh yes, he would like to go home and lock the door. “My place? We could watch a movie.” And he could act less of a paranoid freak. Maybe even salvage what was left of this night.

Itachi smirked. “That sounds like a very good idea.” Better than anything else Naruto could have suggested.

Naruto nodded as they both stood leaving the food uneaten, but they still paid. Naruto wasn’t hungry, and he was far to distracted to eat.

The walk to Naruto’s place seemed longer than usual, Naruto being on edge and constantly looking around him for trouble, tensing and stopping every few moments. He couldn’t stay focused on Itachi while they were still outside.

And when he finally approached his house, he stopped looking back at Itachi who was a few feet away. “Itachi?” Did he piss him off, surly he did.

“I can’t go in Naruto,” Itachi frowned.

He should have known Itachi would think of him as a freak. “Sorry.” He blew it he knew he did. He was acting like an idiot and of course, Itachi would get annoyed and want to leave. He shouldn’t have agreed to go out in the first place.

“Naruto.” Naruto looked up hearing the tone in Itachi’s voice it wasn’t anger more demanding and all he said was his name. “Come over here.”

Naruto blinked a few times in confusion as his feet started moving. He just found one little problem with it—he wasn’t doing it. Well he was walking, but he wasn’t walking by choice.

“Are these up because of me?”

“What?” Itachi wasn’t a ghost. Naruto backed up into a tree again not his will, which left him feeling rather nervous.

“Why did you put barriers up they weren’t here before.” Itachi rested both hands on the tree trapping Naruto’s head between them, even though Naruto couldn’t move even if he wanted.

“How did you know about them? Look I put them up so no ghosts could get in,” Naruto mumbled the last part. “This is why I want to get inside, and fast, before they attack me or you. I think they already are. I know it sounds crazy Itachi but,” Naruto’s voice died out in his throat when he met crimson eyes, again not by choice his voice wasn’t working anymore? Was Kyuubi back?

Itachi chuckled, pressing there lips together briefly. “If you don’t want it just say no.” He could feel the smirk on Itachi’s lips as the other males face rested in the nap of his neck.

Say no? He couldn’t talk, he couldn’t move, didn’t Itachi realize there were more important things to worry about?

‘He’s a monster you fool, I tried to warn you.’ Naruto’s eyes shifted towards the ghost, the same one he met yesterday. His mouth opened but no words came out.

‘You didn’t listen and now he’s going to kill you.’

Kill him? Itachi would? Wait this person never said anything about Naruto being in danger he just went on and on about his death.

“Is he here Naruto? Is he trying to warn you? Your father? I was planning on waiting a bit,” Itachi whispered in his ear with a nip Naruto winced at the slight pain from what he figured was blood trickled down his ear and neck.

However, his words, this person wasn’t his father. His father, Minato, died when Naruto was a child; he never once saw his father’s ghost. He even tried a few times. Whatever was going on, Itachi had the wrong person.

‘He thinks I’m your dad because I’m sure he murdered your father.’

Naruto’s eyes widened. That wasn’t possible his dad died in an accident…

“What’s he saying Naruto? Surly he wouldn’t be telling you the truth, how he betrayed me to be with that woman, he denied joining me in eternity even though we were lovers for so long.” Naruto shivered as Itachi’s tongue lapped up the blood—the thick muscle running a trail from Naruto’s ear to his collarbone.

Was this for real? It couldn’t be. It was a misunderstanding. However, Itachi was really a vampire. How was that possible, and how could he get Itachi to realize he had the wrong person?

Kid, you don’t do something fast you are a goner.’

‘Like how,’ Naruto thought sarcastically. He couldn’t get away. He couldn’t move no matter how hard he tried. And he couldn’t get Itachi to meet his gaze.

“It’s okay, though; I forgive him.” Naruto’s panic set in as teeth sank into his neck, the pain following as Itachi pulled back. “Because, I’ll take your son from you.” Itachi brought a hand to Naruto’s face cupping a whiskered marked cheek. “You’ll be with me forever whether you want it or not.”

Why? Why wouldn’t Itachi just look into his eyes? “That’s my revenge against you Minato I’ll take away your son’s humanity.”

Was it true? Did he really just say his father’s name? It couldn’t be possible? “You know why you see ghosts Naruto?” Finally, he looked into Itachi’s eyes and saw the burning anger in them… and something more. Was it sadness, loneliness, loss? It hurt his heart—he could almost feel the pain radiating off Itachi.

It was true wasn’t it? His father had betrayed Itachi…

“You see them because of all the times I shared my blood with your father, healing his wounds. And in the end he still denied me to be with that woman, just so he could have a child.” Itachi’s hand was rubbing Naruto’s cheek again. “I’ve been watching you for so long after I found out what happened. When I was sleeping last year, I decided to turn you. We cannot have you trying to leave me behind as well. I won’t allow it. So you see that’s why I won’t give you a choice.” Naruto closed his eyes not being able to look into Itachi’s anymore.

Hey kid your not giving up. Resist damn it. You don’t want to lose your life to a monster.

Naruto’s breath hitched as fangs sank back into his neck his fingers twitched.

That’s it kid fight it. Push him away and make a run for your house.

Naruto ignored the voice as he focused, his fingers twitching again as Itachi would go from sucking to lapping up blood, no doubt draining him. He was sure because he was losing his strength and fast. His hand moved as Itachi pulled back licking his lips. “It doesn’t matter if you can resist you can’t get away now.”

Itachi’s eyes widened when arm’s wrapped around his shoulders. “Sorry Itachi, about dad. B-but I’ll stay with you willingly… I promise.” Naruto’s mind felt heavy same as his body, but he knew, he knew he wanted to take away that pain hidden in Itachi’s eyes, the ones masked with anger. Even if he didn’t know Itachi that well, he wanted to make that heartache disappear.

Itachi caught Naruto as the male slipped from his life; he slipped to the ground holding Naruto to his chest. He knew he needed to hurry if he was going to change Naruto. If he didn’t do it fast, it wouldn’t work—Naruto’s heartbeat was already gone. But he couldn’t move, he expected Naruto to fight him, curse him. He expected Naruto to have Minato’s will to break free and kill him, not to agree. Even if he changed Naruto, he expected Naruto to hate and attack him. To get revenge and kill him, the same way Itachi got his revenge. It wasn’t revenge if Naruto wanted it, if he was okay with it.

But he couldn’t—he just couldn’t have the blood of that man’s son on his hands as well. Itachi’s hands slipped under Naruto’s chin long pale fingers opening Naruto’s mouth as he bit down his tongue letting the metallic substance fill his mouth. Itachi leaned forward, pressing their bodies close as he poured his essence into Naruto. Naruto had promised him—a promise… for an eternity.
