Chapter 14: The reason for being late

“Are you sure we got all they need?” Kakashi asked sarcastically as he had his arms filled with groceries.

“You think we forgot something?” The brunette asked as he knocked repeatedly on the front door of the Uchiha mansion.

“We are not going back for more… I guarantee you that they can manage to survive till Hokage-sama allows them to walk around town freely.” The older nin sighed.

“But I just wanna make sure that Naruto-kun is eating properly… and he has been away for so long on that mission to bring back Uchiha-san… and he probably didn’t eat anything other than junk food and Ramen… and–”

“Yare… yare… but there are only Naruto-kun and Sasuke-kun in the house… they can’t eat all that today… if they do, we can always buy some more tomorrow… okay, dolphin,” Kakashi sighed deeper. Iruka was way too protective of Naruto; the boy was turning eighteen in a few months.

“… Good idea.” The brunette gave Kakashi a bright and very happy smile.

“Well… I guess that our guests have finally arrived, Naruto,” Sasuke whispered as he licked a fast healing bite mark on the blonde’s neck.

“Guess we… mmm… better… get dressed… then.” The blonde purred as he dried his lover’s back with the blue towel.

“Only if we can continue this as soon as they have left,” the raven smiled at the blonde’s caring gesture.

“I´d love too, Sasuke.” The blonde grinned back as he wrapped the towel he used to dry Sasuke around his waist and left the bathroom to get dressed.

“This is boring…” Deidara leaned back against the trunk of the tree they were hiding in.

“Quit complaining!”

“But, Sasori-kun… Naruto-kun is not allowed to leave that house before the morning anyway… why can’t we do something for fun.”

“…” The redhead gave his blonde partner an irritated glare, but it didn’t seem to concern the clay shinobi at all.

“Aww, come on… I saw this little Inn a few miles back… it’s not a part of The hidden Leaf… and I really could use a good night’s sleep in a good bed.”

“… Pain will have our heads if we lose track of him. Naruto is the second child of destiny after all! and Itachi won’t be pleased either!” Sasori said coldly.

“Where would they go? They are in love… the only place they’ll go is somewhere like the bedroom heh heh.” The blonde chuckled seductively. “Why don´t we do the same? Wouldn’t it be fun to play with something else than your dolls for once?” Sasori frowned and regarded his smirking blonde partner.

“In your dreams, Deidara, in your dreams!”

All dressed up, they made it downstairs. Naruto planted a soft kiss on his lover’s lips before opening the front door.

“Oi, Kakashi-sensei, Iruka-sensei… good to see- umph,” the blonde was nearly hugged to death, as Iruka dropped everything he had been carrying to squeeze the air out of Naruto.

“I missed you so much, Naruto. Are you alright? Are you in any kind of pain? Is Uchiha-san behaving?” A stream of questions filled the air, as the sobbing brunette continued to hug the blonde whom he loved like the son he would never have.

“Why don’t you come inside, Kakashi-sensei?” Sasuke had already picked up the bags that Iruka had dropped and motioned towards Kakashi to enter the house.

Kakashi nodded as he stepped past Iruka and the slowly suffocating blonde.

“Coffee or tea?” The Uchiha asked calmly. It was better not to disturb Iruka and Naruto´s reunion. Sasuke knew that Iruka loved his blonde like a son, and that the brunette probably had been out of his mind from concern for his ´son’s´ safety.

“Tea is fine. Welcome home… You look good, Sasuke.” The silver-haired man took a seat at the kitchen table.

“Hnn, nice to see you too.” The Uchiha poured the tea and sat down on the opposite side of the table.

“So what’s up with Naruto´s new look?”

“He merged with the Kyuubi,” Sasuke sipped at his tea. He smirked as he saw Naruto trying desperately to free himself from Iruka´s grip.

“Nande? (how?)” Kakashi raised his brow and looked puzzled. “The seal should have prevented that!”

“The body can only take a certain amount of torture. I guess the seal works the same way. Tsunade has ordered him to show up at her office first thing tomorrow.” Sasuke didn’t want to tell anything about the kind of torture that the blonde had to endure. He trusted Kakashi, but that didn’t concern him unless Naruto wanted to tell his friends the truth.

“Oi, Teme, did you make some tea for us too?” It seemed that his Kitsune had managed to break free from the brunette`s crushing grip. Both the blonde and the teacher sat down at the table.

“I’m happy that you are back in one piece, both of you. Welcome home, Uchiha-san,” Iruka smiled at the raven. He had never liked the seemingly cold hearted Uchiha, but Naruto seemed to like the raven a lot.

Iruka therefore decided that he would try to like the boy even if he had the habit of hurting Naruto because of his selfishness. The Uchiha had broken Naruto´s heart when he had decided to run away to seek power, nearly killing the blonde in the process.

“I’m happy that you were not locked up in confinement, Sasuke-kun,” Kakashi smiled as he saw Iruka touch Naruto´s red-streaked golden hair.

“Hnnn…”

“Naruto-kun, your eyes, and hair…” Iruka studied his former student with intensity.

“Yeah,” Naruto sighed and told the two older men what had happen, with a little help from Sasuke. (He filled out the gaps)

“You two managed to kill Orochimaru?” The copy-nin was impressed. Both of his former students had really improved more than he had ever thought was possible. He was proud of them. He squeezed Iruka´s hand reassuringly.

The brunette’s brown eyes were filled with tears. Naruto had been tortured, had merged with the Kyuubi, had defeated Orochimaru together with his long lost friend and had succeeded in keeping his promise to bring back the Uchiha heir.

The teens had left out the part of the rape and of their heated encounter in the glade.

“So are you going to stay with us this time, Uchiha-san?” Iruka wiped away the tears with his free hand. He squeezed Kakashi´s hand softly; happy that his lover was here with him.

“… We are not going to stay in Konoha, Iruka-sensei,” Naruto´s voice was calm and soft.

“But we are going to stay together,” Sasuke leaned back and rested against the chair.

“What do you mean?” Kakashi´s brow rose in question. Iruka didn’t say anything; he just squeezed Kakashi´s hand harder.

“We got an offer that we can’t refuse. The elders of Otogakure have asked us to become the leaders of the Sound.” Sasuke´s voice was calm as always.

“You know that I always dreamed of being the Hokage,” Naruto said. “We got the opportunity to make a difference…to make it better.”

Both Iruka and Kakashi stared at their former students. Determination was visible in both crimson and blue eyes. Their minds were already made up.

“So you’ll leave us? When?” Iruka asked sadly. He knew he would miss the blonde boy terribly.

“…We are going to stay a while. Naruto wants to tell those who matter in person. I have a few things to settle as well before we begin to pack.” Sasuke wrapped an arm around Naruto´s shoulder, which made their former sensei’s stare in wonder.

“Naruto, when you said that you were staying together… what exactly did you mean by that?” Iruka asked. He had never seen the Uchiha so affectionate before.

“… Naruto and I are going to live and to lead the Sound together,” Sasuke said.

“We have always felt secure in each others presence. We trust each other with our lives and have always been best of friends; we just upgraded our friendship a bit,” the blonde chuckled.

“You’re lovers?” Both teens nodded at the brunette’s question. Kakashi chuckled, “Guess we’re not the only gay couple in Konoha after all!”

The teens were quite surprised to hear that Kakashi and Iruka had been an item since before Kakashi had been assigned to team seven.

“So that’s the reason for you being late all the time, sensei,” Naruto chuckled and leaned onto Sasuke. The heat emitting from Sasuke´s body felt so good and he wished that they were alone.

“Sorry for not sharing it with you sooner, but it’s not the type of thing you should tell your students,” the silver-haired nin smiled beneath his mask.

“Guess you’re right.” The blonde rested his head on his lover’s shoulder with a happy smile. Sasuke smiled at the gesture and rested his head against Naruto´s blonde mop.

Kakashi softly poked Iruka in the ribs with his elbow at the openly visible signs of compassion and love between the young couple.

“I guess it’s time for us to leave you two alone. If there is anything you need, don’t hesitate to send us a note. We won’t tell anyone that you are back; I think it would be better that way.” Iruka and Kakashi got up and prepared to leave. “I hope that the food and other things we bought will do.”

“Thank you, Iruka-sensei, we’ll be fine as long as we have each other,” the foxy blonde grinned as he walked them to the door.

He had barely said his goodbyes and closed the door before someone was pinning his body against it.

“Finally alone,” Sasuke´s deep sensual voice whispered to him before a wet tongue licked at his earlobe. “I though they´d never leave.”
