Last Chance

The entire village had gathered outside the Hokage’s mansion for the secession ceremony. Vendors lined the sides of the streets for this rare opportunity. Children giggled as they ran in-between the adults that waited patiently for the ceremony to begin, as they conversed about the event. It was time to welcome a new Hokage. Their Rokudaime!

Naruto paced inside the mansion. He was swathed in white robes and Hokage’s hat was perched upon his brow. Tsunade and Sasuke looked on and shook their heads. He’d been proclaiming this spot for eight years and NOW he was nervous?

“Are you ready Naruto?” Tsunade asked as she moved to stand before him. “After this the title is officially yours,” she said with a smile.

“Uh… ah…” he stuttered as he fidgeted with every piece of the ensemble.

Tsunade sighed again as she stepped forward to fix the boys clothes. “Come on, you already did the hard part. You beat me,” she smirked at him.

“That was easy…”

Tsunade growled as she held up her fist threateningly. Sasuke almost laughed, almost.

“But are they really going to accept me?” he vexed while ringing his hands and trying to look out the curtain.

“Naruto…” Tsunade placed a hand on his shoulder and turned him to face her. “You love this village and all the people in it. You have proved that many times. The people respect you. And as the Hokage, they will love you too.” Naruto looked so hopefully into her eyes she wanted wrap him in a tight hug. But before she could act on her impulse the Uchiha’s voice broke in.

“They’re starting,” he said looked out the curtain to the balcony.

Homura walked onto the balcony and waited for the crowd to direct their attention to him. “Before the ceremony begins, we have some announcements. Starting today, the village decree, made twenty years ago, shall be revoked.”

A large rumble broke through the crowd as people started talking at once. “What… Decree…What’s that…Are you serious?”

Homura remained still waiting for the crown to quite.

“What?!” Naruto yelled as he pulled his head back from where he had been peeking through the curtain. “They’re going to tell the whole village about Kyuubi?!” he yelled waving his arms franticly.

“It’s necessary,” Tsunade declared, once again moving to fix his robes. “The village can’t be in the dark about their own Hokage. They’ll be dedicating their lives to you, just as you will be to them.”

“I didn’t think about that,” he said looking visible relaxed. “Thank goodness I told Sakura yesterday.”

“You told Sakura?” Tsunade and Sasuke asked in unison.

Sasuke turned to the wall and huffed. He told Sakura yesterday, and she was with him this morning. ‘Well I guess that didn’t scare her off. DAMN!’ he thought trying not to show is emotions.

The crowd finally settled down as everyone looked up to Homura for answers. “This needs explaining for some of you. Twenty years ago, Yondaime battled the Kyuubi.” Heads bobbed in the crowd. Everyone knew about that. “To defeat it he sealed the Kyuubi inside the body of a baby boy, his own son.” Gasps rippled through the crowd. “That son was Naruto-sama.” More of the population of Konoha gasped at the revelation.

“Oh my god!” Naruto yell as he began to run circles around the room. “They’re not going to accept me! They’re all going to hate me! I had come so far!”

Sasuke, who had gotten tired of their blonde ‘leaders’ antics, grabbed the new Rokudaime and propelled him toward the curtain. Naruto’s eyes got wide as they stopped directly in front of it. He looked over his shoulder at the raven, who was… smirking!

Homura’s speech continued ignorant of the events behind the curtains. “Thanks to Yondaime and Naruto-sama, we no longer have to fear the power of the Kyuubi. But know it is a power that will help protect this village, in the form of our Great Hokage!”

At that moment Sasuke gave the blonde a particularly hard ‘nudge’ on his ass with a foot; Naruto fell out of the curtain headfirst. Managing a summersault, while keeping the hat on his head, Naruto jumped up before a cheering crowd. The new Rokudaime flashed the crowd a dazzling smile while waving to them all.

At the end of the ceremony Homura held up his hand, apparently he had one more thing to say to the crowd. “For our last announcement. Uzumaki is now an important name in Konoha. And we hope the Hokage will continue this proud family by soon marrying!”

Naruto turned wide eyes to look at the elder. That had never been a requirement he was informed of. Then he remembered his walk with Sasuke yesterday. ‘Yeah, soon you’ll be married with kids,’ he had said. With one last smile for the villagers Naruto turned briskly back through the curtains.

“Uchiha!!!” Naruto yelled as he stalked down the halls to find Sasuke. He found him down the second hall and backed him into a wall. “You knew, didn’t you!!!” he screamed, jabbing a finger into the man’s chest.

“Naruto, calm down,” he tried to persuade the angry blonde.

“I will not calm…”

“Come in here,” Sasuke said grabbing his wrist as he tried to pull Naruto into the closest door; but Naruto balked. Shinobi and servants alike were gawking at the pair fighting in the hallway. “Do you want everyone to think we choose a tyrannical Hokage,” he whispered trying to get through to the blonde.

Naruto straightened his body and inclined his chin. Shaking Sasuke’s hand from his wrist he stalked two doors down, to what he knew were his private apartments. Sasuke followed and Naruto closed the door after the Uchiha had entered.

“Nice place you have here,” Sasuke observed as he took in the sitting room. “This room is bigger than your whole apartment used to be.”

“Stop trying to change the subject,” Naruto yelled as he took the hat off and flung it across the room. “You knew, and you didn’t tell me!”

“Knew what dobe?” he asked crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned against the wall.

“I’m your Hokage! You can’t call me things like that!” Naruto yelled as he did a very good impression of a three year old. “You knew the council wanted me to marry!”

Sasuke threw his head to the side in indifference. “So? You said you weren’t ready to marry.”

“Do you think that was a request?” he asked exasperated. “That was a command!” he roared pointing toward an invisible council.

Sasuke pushed away from the wall and marched up to the blonde. “Well you’re the Hokage, tell them where they can stick it!”

Naruto moved backwards to sit on the kotatsu as he put a hand to his forehead. “Hokage, not Emperor. I must still heed the council’s wishes,” he sighed in acceptance.

“Naruto! You can’t get married!” Sasuke’s voice rose in protest.

“Sure I can. I was just surprised,” he waved off his friend’s concern. “Sakura already said she loves me so it should be a problem…”

“I LOVE YOU!” bellowed the usually stoic male.

“WHAT!!!” Naruto’s cry shook the room as he jumped up from the table.

Bam. Bam. Bam. The apartment door sounded loudly in the now silent room.

“Hokage-sama?! Hokage-sama?!”

Naruto moved quickly to the door to confront the panicking ANBU.

“Is everything okay, Naruto-sama?” The rat-masked man asked.

“Everything is fine. I’m just talking with Uchiha-san,” he said moving back to give the masked man a clear view of Sasuke. “He is to be trusted absolutely.”

“Yes, Hokage-sama,” he said as he bowed out of the doorway.

Naruto turned back into the room pinching the bridge of his nose. He shook his head as he watched the raven pacing the room. Sasuke would alternately cover his mouth with his hand then move it to run though his hair as he moved between the window and door.

“Shall be continue this conversation further from the hallway?” Naruto finally asked as he moved deeper into the apartment. Once they had entered the deepest room, Naruto closed the door softly then turned to calmly face Sasuke. He took a deep breath, then yelled, “What in the gods’ name is going on?!”

“Naruto, calm down.”

“Let me recap my day for you,” he bit back sarcastically. “I become Hokage. The council tells me I have to marry and have kids. Then my best friend, a guy, tells me he’s in love with me! Could you be calm?” he screeched.

“You don’t really have to marry if…”

Naruto cut him off again, “Are you listening to me? YOU’RE A GUY!” Waving his hands up and down to emphasize the obvious, if Sasuke had missed that little detail.

“Well you didn’t object the…” Sasuke slapped his hands over his mouth in hopes of calling back the words he let escape in his anger.

Naruto’s eyes flared. “What were you going to say?!”

“Naruto…” Sasuke tried softly.

An image of a naked Sasuke calling his name softly filled Naruto brain. “Oh my gods!” he croaked bringing a hand to cover his mouth. He looked up into black eyes looking for the truth. “Sasuke… I’ve been having weird images in my head about you that seem too real. And even when I was with Sakura… Sasuke, they’re not dreams are they?”

“Naruto, I’m…”

“When?!” the blonde screeched.

Sasuke looked away from the accusing blue eyes. “After the party Ino threw you.”

“When I was drunk? You took advantage of me when I was drunk?!” he looked disbelieving upon his friend.

“You did most of the taking,” Sasuke grumbled. He was tired of feeling like the villain. The damn dobe had participated too, and he had liked it. Sasuke looked around the room for the first time and smirk. He just needs some reminding.

“Oh my gods!” ‘The scream!’ Naruto turned around and hid his face in his hands.

Sasuke walked up behind the blonde and snaked an arm around his waist, as he reached his mouth up to the dobe’s ear. He licked the ridge then whispered, “Do you know how happy it makes me that you finally remember?”

“Sasuke, what are you doing?” Naruto squeaked as stiffed in the raven’s arms.

“I was so upset you couldn’t remember that morning,” he said as he moved down to nibble on the tan neck. He suddenly grabbed Naruto’s wrists and turned him around quickly. “And then you went straight into Sakura’s arms.” His eyes flared. “Gods, how that pissed me off,” Sasuke growled as he backed Naruto into the edge of the bed.

“Sasuke, this isn’t right,” Naruto protested as his heart pounded in his chest. Sasuke pushed him back to lie on the bed. “Sakura is…”

“You said, you were thinking of me while fucking Sakura,” he said while slowly creeping on top of Naruto, holding his hands out of the way. “Now, it upsets me you had sex with her, but it pleases me that you were thinking of me while doing it.”

Naruto’s face pinched in anger, “You don’t ‘fuck’ your girlfriend, you…”

“You don’t fuck your best friend either,” Sasuke interjected, leaning down and kissing Naruto’s neck. Naruto shivered as the other man licked his ear and whispered, “But you seem to be doing a lot of things you shouldn’t do.” Sasuke resumed kissing Naruto’s neck while pulling up his shirt to give him more access to Naruto’s tan body. Moving down the newly exposed flesh Sasuke’s tongue flicked out to tease one of the taunt brown nipples. Naruto’s breath rushed in quickly as Sasuke licked, nipped, and sucked on the hard little bud. Naruto’s hands moved in Sasuke’s hair as he moved further down to explore the indent of Naruto’s bellybutton. Reveling in the fact the blonde was letting him do what he liked; Sasuke snickered as his hand moved under the waist of Naruto’s pants. Naruto gasped as Sasuke’s fingers wrapped tightly around the treasure he had been seeking.

“Sas…uke,” Naruto panted. Naruto’s eyes opened wide in realization of what he had just said. “Uke!” he bellowed as he retrieved Sasuke’s hand and slammed him onto his back.

Sasuke’s eyes bugged with surprise. ‘Damn,’ he thought to himself. ‘I was sure I had convinced him.”

Hovering over Sasuke, Naruto muttered, “Your name is Sas-uke, and I’m a Hokage. There is no way I’m going to be your bitch.” Sasuke stared back in wide-eyed confusion; did this blonde ever make any sense? “If we’re going to do this, we’re going to do it my way,” Naruto proclaimed.

Sasuke face broke into a cocky grin; they were still going to do it! “Anything you say, Hokage-sama.” The large grin that split the Rokudaime’s face gave Sasuke a twinge of fear.
