Naruto was shocked. Standing at his door was Gaara. Naruto was having a hard time breathing. Looking at the red mop of hair, back rings around both his eyes and the kanji for love tattooed on his forehead. On closer looking his cheek was bruised and had a busted lip.
“Gaara…” Naruto whispered
Neji ran up from behind Naruto and looked at Gaara.
“How’s your back?” Neji asked, while Naruto stood silently
Neji looked at Naruto for approval to bring him in, Naruto nodded.
“I told you. You know he gets upset when you don’t do the test.” Neji whispered
Naruto met Gaara’s eyes and they looked at each other for a while.
“I’m sorry” Gaara said, never looking away
“I forgive you” Naruto blinked
He just said that and he knew even though he didn’t mean to, he really did forgive them. Naruto looked at Gaara’s shoulder and saw blood spots. Without thinking he ran to Gaara and looked in the back of his shirt. Blood was all he saw, Gaara held still not knowing that Naruto was looking at his back.
Naruto walked out of the room and came back with several medicine kits.
“Take off your shirt”
“Naruto,” Gaara let out “I’m fine”
“Take off the shirt or I’ll rip it off of you”
“Neji, help” Gaara growled
“Did he slash your back?” Neji asked concern rushed over his face
“Neji, it doesn’t matter. I-” Gaara was cut off by being pushed on his stomach
Naruto had somehow quietly told Neji to stand as fast as possible so he could push Gaara on the couch. Naruto sat on Gaara’s butt and pulled his shirt up. Naruto gasped and Neji turned away.
All across Gaara’s back were slashes, chunks of flesh missing.
“Tell me what happened.” Naruto mumbled, pulling some stuff out of one the kits.
“Neji told you about the lab, right?’
“Yeh” Naruto answered
“I wouldn’t take one of the test, so the leader punished me for it.”
“What was it, the test I mean?”
“They wanted to me to fuck some traumatized boy.”
Neji growl at an invisible force.
“Why?” Naruto breathed out focused on Gaara’s back
“The boy has powers, but he won’t use them. I think he doesn’t know how to use them. They believe if they abuse him that maybe it will set him off.”
Naruto nodded.
“Did you make Orochimaru mad? I’ve never seen him be this cruel” Neji whispered
“He thought I was going to take any punishment”
Naruto finally was finished and stood with a smile.
“Done and this Orochimaru guy, why does his name sound familiar?”
Gaara rolled over and looked at Naruto.
“Do you really want to know?”
“No, I just asked to see your faces” Naruto said sarcastically
“Because he’s the most wanted criminal in the world.” Neji whispered
