A bond thicker than blood

Right guys here is the next chapter

i am really glad people like the story, at least i know i move in the right direction.

and to some questions:

LadyRonin: well so far my thoughts have that he should have a thing for Naruto seeing as there will be more gain for him as Naruto is the son of Yodamine, but who knows it might take an unexpected turn seeing as I just make stuff up as I go along. =) as for the other question I wouldn’t leave it out that they’d make an appearance in a few chapters or so

and i want to thank every one of you that has commented so far,
it has been great to see so much response to the story far
which makes me want to continue.

Chapter 16

They had been going around for hours and with each place they checked their small glimmer of hope died as they never found him. Naruto looked at his phone noticing that it was only an hour until Sasuke was coming back, if they could find Momochi in time he would have to make up an excuse.
Haku was loosing more and more of his spark with each place they searched and the hope of finding him alive was slowly losing to the feeling that they would finding him dead in a ditch somewhere.
“Hey, let’s go and have a look in the park” the blond said as they were walking down the street. Haku stared at Momochi’s phone which had a small phone tag, Naruto guessed it must have been a present from Haku seeing as Momochi wasn’t the person to buy things like that. Haku just nodded at Naruto’s idea and followed the blond.

The park Naruto had referred to was an abandoned play ground for kids where the different Yakuza groups came to duel or execute traitors. The reason it was lucrative to the Yakuza was because it was so secluded, it was situated up on a top in the outskirt of Tokyo, where the old refugee housing used to be before they were chased away. Momochi had told him all the stories the old members of the Sumiyoshi-kai had told him about the park, they had told him about a time when there were children playing and mothers watching as they played happily with their friends. Ironic really at how a place so full of life had turned to a place of death.

Haku and Naruto walked up the road that lead to the park, the sun was setting behind them making the sky turn orange and making the street lights slowly but surly light due to the lack of daylight.
At first glance over the park they found no sign of life, Naruto had half expected there to be people here seeing as what this place was but just like death it was completely silence.
Haku couldn’t take it any more and sank to his knees squeezing the phone even more tightly to his chest; it looked like he had given up all hope finding his lover alive.
It wasn’t an uncommon thing to have members just disappear and never be seen again, it was obvious what had happened to them, it was just that most people chose not to talk about it. This was part of a Yakuza’s life and it was common knowledge that ones life expectancy was drastically reduced and that only the lucky ones got to live to see 40.
“Haku” the blond boy said gently bending down next to him, but he quickly shot up again as he felt a vibration followed by a sound.
“Shit” he cursed under his breath “What?” he snapped in to the phone not realising it was Sasuke on the other end.
“Wow, take a chill pill dobe” the black haired boy said on the other end, the blond calmed down as he heard the others voice but it didn’t last long as Sasuke asked “where are you dobe? Thought you were going to have dinner ready?” he chuckled a little at what he had just said; he sounded like a husband who demanded his dinner on the table when he got home from work, minus the yelling of course.
“Sorry, I-I …” the blond boy didn’t get to say another word because suddenly Haku yelled out “MOMOCHI!!!” and ran towards a tree on the other side of the park.
“I’ll phone you back” the blond boy said before hanging up and running in the same direction as the other boy.

“Naruto, wai …t” all he could hear was the busy sound on the other side of the phone, he hung up? He stared at the phone for a couple of second before he was snapped back to the present by his stomach growling. He was worried about what the dobe was up to but the hunger needed priority, he would phone him later again if he didn’t turn up.

Back in the park Haku and Naruto had found Momochi sitting up against a tree badly beaten, but much to their relief there weren’t any life threatening wounds. Haku had thrown himself around Momochi’s neck crying and he hadn’t let go until Momochi had groaned out of pain.
“Don’t you ever do that again you hear” the boy shouted at him trying to avoid hitting him. Momochi had just smiled “Sorry, I’ll try not to.” This had been the first time something really bad had happened to Momochi and Haku, it had never really occurred to Naruto that one day he might wake up to a phone call telling him that they were no longer amongst the living.
They lifted him off the ground and half carried him towards the subway as he was telling them how a rival group had been trying to steal parts of their turf and Orochimaru had told him to deal with it. Just by hearing his uncle’s name his body stiffened, and even though Momochi was badly injure he could still feel the blond’s body stiffen. He quickly changed the subject on to something completely different, hoping it would take the blond’s mind off tomorrow.

When they finally got back to Haku and Momochi’s place they laid him down on the bed, Haku was running around the whole house finding towels and antiseptic and bandages to tend to his lover.
Suddenly Naruto’s phone went off again and again it gave him a fright as he had forgotten he had just hung up on Sasuke. “I’m sorry Sasuke, Momochi and Haku needed some help in the store and I totally forgot about the time.”
Sasuke had no reason to doubt the blonds excuse and only said that he would be waiting for him to come home. Naruto had smiled and said he couldn’t wait to get back before saying goodbye and hanging up.

Momochi had observed the conversation, seeing Naruto make up the lie hoping it would be believable. “You haven’t told him have you?” The blond looked at him, giving him the ‘what do you mean?’ look. “Come on Naruto don’t give me that look, you know perfectly well what I mean” the man said not taking away his gaze.
Naruto sighed knowing he couldn’t fool this man “no I haven’t”, Momochi already knew that and sighed, “Don’t you think you should tell him, seeing as how close you two have been the past month and a half.”
The blond boy moved his eyes towards the floor “no, I wont tell him, a-at least not yet” knowing it was inevitable for him to keep it hidden from Sasuke for long, knowing that tomorrow would be a hard day to deal with.
“He deserves to know” the man told him trying to turn to his side but gave up on the idea as it was too painful to move his body. “Yeah maybe” Momochi could see he was trying to brush the issue away, they all knew all too well that people would keep their distance once they found out where they came from. He was going to say something else but refrained from doing so knowing he would only stir up some painful emotions in the blond boy.
“You better get back before he comes looking for you, tell Haku to drive you home and than I’ll be nice and clean for him when he comes back to put on the bandages.” The man smiled at him as Naruto nodded, Sasuke was probably wondering where he’d disappeared to. He gave the man a smile and told him to feel better, and that he would come by tomorrow afternoon.
“Yeah, be good now” he said to the blond boy before he disappeared out of the room
