Chapter: Temari
Temari watched as Sakura’s green hands roved over Matsuri’s body, the woman gave nothing away it was unnerving to say the least. The blond looked up to stare at the green suited man and frowned, she still didn’t understand why he was allowed to be in here but nobody else. Sakura sighed, and moved her hands to the Matsuri’s head and focused on bring her back to consciousness. Slowly Temari watched as her eyes opened and blinked.
“Matsuri, do you know what day it is?” Sakura asked coming to stand in front of her.
“It’s at least three weeks after the eyes appeared on the moon,” she answered.
“You’re name?”
“Subaku Matsuri.”
“That’s correct.” Temari said not to many people would know that they had her join their family when her parents had been killed and she still wasn’t quite old enough to be on her own.
Sakura sat back, “well all things considered you are doing quite well now. I’ve healed all your internal injuries from your, misfortunate encounter with the male species.”
Matsuri smiled slightly at Sakura’s small joke, “thank you.”
“I have some unfortunate news to tell you though.”
Temari felt her heart stop beating, it couldn’t be true.
“You’re pregnant. Now at this point of the pregnancy I can safely terminate it and no harm will come to you. I’m quite good at this by now as I’ve done this for a few other women. You do not have to feel obligated to keep this child, no body would blame you for making such a choice.”
Temari was slightly relieved, she could end the pregnancy and be done with this whole sordid thing. She looked to Matsuri and saw that she was unsure of what to do. Leaning forward she placed her hand on the younger woman’s shoulders and smiled kindly.
“It’s okay Matsuri, she’s right no one would be mad at you for making this choice. What happened to you was wrong, and a baby from that would be hard to love and take care of.”
The one in the green suit, Rock Lee spoke up, “I do not mean to speak up as this is private, but as a man I can see why you would make such a choice. Binging forth such a life would be difficult and it would take a very passionate and strong woman to do so.”
Sakura sent him a look and he winced and looked down at his feet. Temari wasn’t sure if she liked how he had said that at all.
“You do not have to decide today, you have at least another four days. I can do it after that, but the longer we wait the harder it will be on you. I will need to see you everyday to make sure you are healing properly, on the fourth day you can tell me-”
“I can’t.” Matsuri choked out.
“You can’t what?” Sakura asked.
Tears welled up and fell from her eyes, “I can’t kill a baby.”
“It’s not a baby just yet,” Sakura explained soothingly.
“By medical standards maybe. But I can’t do that to a baby,” Matsuri replied looking down at her hands as she tried not to sob.
“You have four days to really think about it. Pregnancy is not easy on normal circumstances with a safe environment. You have neither of those on your side.” Sakura told her.
“No, my answer is no. I just can’t make that choice.” She whispered.
Temari sighed and put her hands over Matsuri’s, “you need to be sure. You were raped, this is a product of such a thing. You do not need to feel obligated.”
Matsuri turned her eyes on Temari and they were determined, “it doesn’t matter to me how this happened. If I can’t handle it at all by the time the baby is born then I will give it away.”
Sakura closed her eyes and Temari tensed, “it’s going to be twins.”
Matsuri’s eyes widened, “you didn’t tell me that.”
“Having to terminate one is hard enough for a woman to choose. I didn’t want you to know and feel obligated.”
“Sakura-chan that is not fair at all! If Matsuri-san was pregnant with two you should tell her. With holding information is cruel.” Lee chastised.
Sakura chuckled, “I know Lee, but I didn’t want her to know until she had chosen one way or the other. One thing at a time.”
Lee sat back and contemplated what she had said, “I can see your point but that is still not very honorable.”
“Be careful for the next four days, be sure to come to me everyday when it is convenient. If you feel any pain or cramping come to me. Just because you’re choosing to keep them doesn’t mean you’re body will feel inclined to do the same.”
Matsuri nodded, “thank you for understanding.”
Sakura reached her hand out and placed it over Matsuri’s thigh, “if it makes you feel better I do not think I could be as strong as you.”
Matsuri nodded, “Sakura-sempai you are strong in your own way.”
“Well we can’t have you on the front lines anymore,” Sakura told her.
“Alright, then what should I do then?”
“I don’t know yet.”
Temari spoke up, “she had minor training in the medic field. She can heal small wounds and check for other injuries.”
Sakura looked pleased to hear this, “well then you can join the group I will start to train once we reach our new home.”
“We already have some where to go?” Temari asked sounding stunned.
“Yes, Shikamaru is always quite good at getting things rolling.”
Temari smiled, “that he is.”
“Lee I’m leaving you in charge of helping her out right now. I must attend to other people.”
“Matsuri if you need anything just have Lee come find me.”
“Of coarse Temari-sempai.”
With that the two exited the tent and walked towards the bathing area. Temari had never been so happy to see hot water in her life. Looking around she realized there was a tent with towels and clothes in it. She smiled wondering if Shikamaru had thought all of this out himself or if he had a bunch of people tell him their needs and he figured it out.
“Shikamaru’s in the blue tent with the green door. It’s a fairly large tent, but that’s usually where they have meetings now.” Sakura told her looking off in the direction to go.
“Thank you, I would like to see him.”
“Well everything you need is here. Looks like the stuff you guys packed along has already been added. Which is a good thing we were running low on a few things.”
“You’re really going to teach a group of people to be medics?”
Sakura looked at her, “yes I want everyone to at least know basics, I will also be consulting with villagers and see if there aren’t normal means to patch things up. Learn some of that too.”
“That’s a smart plan.”
“I have to go, Ino is flagging me down.” With that said the pink haired woman took off.
“Well, time to get clean.” She whispered to herself and went towards the tent.
******************
Slowly she stepped into the tent as the ones she recalled to be known as Iruka and Kakashi exited the tent. She looked around the spacious area, which wasn’t to much bigger than a medium and a small tent meshed together. A low table was set to the left side maps and paperwork sprawled across it a small lantern in the middle of it. The light cast off the lantern didn’t light the complete tent and to the right was Shikamaru sitting in the shadows. There was one plus to this tent she could stand up in it, she didn’t have to bend over at all. Zipping the tent behind her she stepped in fully and stood.
Shikamaru looked spent, and stressed something he wasn’t known for because he always let everything slide off his shoulders. Making her way over she knelt down behind and slightly to the right of him, her hair falling down over her shoulder in thick messy curls. Her newly acquired coat crinkled and bunched up around her neck, her long brown pants at least fit perfectly and didn’t give as much trouble.
“Shikamaru I thought I’d come and thank you for helping us out.” She stated quietly.
“Eh, it wasn’t much trouble.”
“Liar,” she countered with amusement.
Finally he looked up at her and she felt concern wash over her, he looked like he hadn’t slept in ages. Which was probably the case, she hadn’t gotten a lot herself. Still it was something far more taxing that was bothering him. Reaching her hand forward she brushed her knuckles down his cheek.
“It’s not your fault.”
“I miss calculated when the jutsu could be activated. If I had been more accurate people could have been saved.”
“People have been saved, because of you.”
Shikamaru grunted and looked away.
“I’ve talked to people since I’ve gotten here. They are thankful to be alive. You are the instrument that made that possible. People die in war, you are helping people stay alive as best you can.”
He sighed, “it’s not just that.”
“It never is with you.”
He sent her a look but she could tell he was vaguely amused, “I can’t use my shadow jutsu.”
She wasn’t sure what to say to that, “do you know why?”
“I have an idea, I looked up at those eyes after that I couldn’t use it. I can use everything else, but not my blood line limit.” He sighed again undoing his hair to run his fingers through it agitatedly.
“With time it may fade,” she offered.
“I doubt it. If we get rid of the jutsu then maybe. Whenever I try to use my jutsu I get this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, or… I black out.”
Temari looked away unable to meet his worried gaze, she didn’t need to see the question to know it was there. He was wondering if he was one of them when he used it, if he had been able to use it at all. It made her sick to think about it too, Shikamaru as one of them was not a very good thing.
“I’m sure nothing happened.”
“No you’re not, or you’d look at me,” he answered her.
“So I’m not. Shikamaru you’re still here with us as yourself that’s all that matters.” She replied.
“Is it? I’m practically useless as I can’t fight myself. All I can do is give out orders. If I’m attacked I could fight, but really would I win?”
“Shikamaru you’re much older now. You’ve gone into battle plenty of times and have completed missions. You are not that same chunnin from back then. You won’t allow people to needlessly fight, besides all of them lived.”
He snorted, “barely.”
“This isn’t like you in the least Shikamaru. What are you really worried about?” She asked frowning at him.
“I lost Chouji, he’s no longer with us. Shino eradicated his entire family home….”
Temari looked down at her hands, “I heard that too.”
“I killed my father,” he whispered staring down at his hands.
A thick silence fell over the tent and Temari felt her heart twist up. Shikamaru had loved his father greatly. Temari had met the man a few times when she’d visited Konoha to see his son. He had liked her, had welcomed her in their family. It had been nice even his mother was kind to her, though they bumped heads a few to many times.
“People were going crazy attacking each other, we were trying to subdue them without actually killing anyone. My jutsu was working just fine at the time. Then my mother comes running out of the house screaming her clothes ripped and bleeding. She had killed the man who’d attacked her she’s scary like that.”
Temari smiled slightly, indeed that woman was.
“My father went running over to her and walked her back into the house. Told her we would make sure everything was okay.” He paused to breath, “I was slightly annoyed that he’d just bunched me right in that group. I had already told him we needed to move to higher ground but he wasn’t listening. Which wasn’t like him… I should have known.”
Temari wanted to touch him, but she bit her lip instead. Shikamaru wouldn’t want comfort until it was all said and done. It was just who he was even though it made things difficult for her.
“I was tired of waiting for him, he’d taken too long. So I ran back in to tell him we had to leave.” Again he stopped and a shiver ran over his body, “there was blood everywhere. He’d torn her to pieces. Literal pieces, she was everywhere and the smell made me vomit right there at my feet.”
Temari choked on her sob, she had to be strong she had to keep it together.
“Dad was just kneeling there beside what was left of her torso staring at his bloody hands not understanding anything. I knew he’d been infected nothing else explained it, but I still walked towards him. I still placed my hand on his shoulder like some rookie. He whipped around and bit into my arm. It hurt like hell.” Shikamaru frowned, “he was fast, faster than what was normal and after he slammed me out of the house I landed with him above me. Dad was trying to tear out my jugular with is teeth. I ended up glancing at the moon, I felt this raw anger coming up from my stomach.”
Temari started to shake the horror that he had had to live through was horrible. She almost wanted to tell him stop, because she could see it; the desperation, the anger, the blood. She’d seen it in Suna but it had never been this close to home.
“I hit dad and he fell away from me, my fingers flew through the seals and then it’s blank. All I have is echoing screams inside my head. That and my father back to himself again begging me to end it. There are small images, fuzzy like I’m viewing it through a dirty lens. My father’s face, blood, mother’s body, a few of the villagers, bodies being ripped apart. Then when I come too I’m lying in blood, I’m caked in it.” He paused and takes a deep breath, “I ran into the nearest house and ripped off my cloths and used clean towels to wipe off what I could and then I dressed in my stolen outfit and left.”
Temari’s heart was pounding and her hands were shaking, there was nothing she could say to make this go away. There was just no words of comfort for a reality like that. She looked away when he looked over at her, she wasn’t ready to face him. She would cry for him if she looked at him now.
“I tried to use my jutsu again and I couldn’t, it made me sick to my stomach and I would cut it off.”
Taking a deep breath she looked up at the man she loved, “Shikamaru I can’t tell you that it didn’t happen, and I can’t take your pain away, but I can be here for you now.”
Shikamaru stared at her seriously his brown eyes boring into her trying to judge her words, “aren’t you afraid I’ll turn or something?”
“No, if what you say is true then it’s tied to your blood line limit. It’s possible that you aren’t effected more because the way you compartmentalize everything inside that noggin of yours.”
Shikamaru looked away as if thinking that over and Temari watched as he seemed to relax. “That is a plausible solution to why I am not turned.”
“Well I am a strategist just like you.” She offered slightly offended.
Shikamaru smiled, “honestly all you women get so offended about everything.”
“Yes, yes,” she rolled her eyes. “We’re all so troublesome.”
Shikamaru leaned towards her and their lips met in a chaste kiss that had passion zinging through her body. It had been so long since they had been together, and all the trouble that had come about had been stressing. It had made her long for Shikamaru without really realizing it until just then.
“Thank you Tem, I feel a bit better.”
“I take it I’m the only one who knows then.”
“Yeah, telling everyone would be a pain in the ass,” he grumbled making her giggle.
Temari blushed as the realization that she’d giggled came to her. Shikamaru smiled again and his hand slid against her neck to cup the back of her head before he leaned in to place a kiss against her slightly open mouth. Tilting their heads just enough in opposite directions they were able to deepen the kiss and the two moaned quietly.
Pulling back he rested their foreheads together, “I missed you Tem, I was worried.”
“Same here.”
When their mouths met for the third time there was a certain level of desperation and hands quickly went to disrobe the other person. Temari’s coat zipper snagged, and Shikamaru made a displeased sound in the back of his throat before she tugged her arms out of the sleeves and slipped the brown coat up over her head. Mouths met again and Temari fell back against the many blankets and two pillows, Shikamaru above her and between her legs.
Sliding her hands up his side under the shirt she pulled the shirt up bunching it at his underarms as he refused to stop kissing her long enough to pull it off. When he realized he wouldn’t be able to get her topless without breaking contact he raised himself up, allowing her to pull his shirt off before he pulled off her lavender colored shirt and tossed them to the side. Temari slid her hands up over his well tones arms and down over his shoulder to trace the curves of his back. His shoulder length hair fell around his face and tickled her skin as he nipped at her breasts, his hands up under her to undo the braw strap.
She moaned low in her throat when he rocked his hip up into her and she could feel his hardness there. His groan echoed hers when he rocked up into her a second time and he stopped to pull away. She protested with a whimper, something that would later mortify her, but realized he was fiddling with her pants and panties.
“You deal with yours I’ll deal with mine.” She told him as sternly as she could muster breathless and flushed.
“I love you, less troublesome.” he managed to get out semi-coherently, though she understood.
Quickly she undid her boots, and tossed them to the side before lifting her hips and shoving her pants off to the side as well. Shikamaru looked at her in slight surprise at how quickly she’d gotten undressed but then their mouths were back together again. Shikamaru lowered Temari back against the blankets once more and she warped her legs around his thighs waiting for him to push in.
She already knew this wasn’t going to be long or sweet, and she didn’t want it to be. She needed something quick and a little rough, she just needed him like he needed her. They both groaned in unison as he pushed into her and they took but a moment to catch their breath before Shikamaru began to rock.
Left arm supporting most of his weight above her his other one slid back and under her ass to grab a hold and direct her movements. He slammed into her his head resting against her collar bone, her nails digging into his back. The rough texture of the bandage around his right forearm scratched at her thigh but she didn’t care. Crying out quietly with every thrust she lifted her hips into his and was delighted to her him groaning her name.
Her toes were tingling as she got closer to her climax and she tightened her legs against him to let him know. Normally she would have been crying out loudly because he liked it, but she couldn’t at the moment. His guttural groan in reply sent shivers down into her stomach and her fingers bit into his back harder as she climaxed. Shikamaru turned his head and bit down on her neck muffling his cry as he came shortly after thrusting up into her deeply.
The two lay on top of the covers frozen in climatic poses slowly relaxing each muscle at a time. It was always harder for them after they had had to be quiet. Soon they were laying tangled together Shikamaru still laying on top of her between her legs, his arms wrapped around her, and his head resting on top her chest. Temari took the time to soothe the pain she had caused his back and carefully ran her fingers over the sweat slicked skin.
“My ass is cold,” He mumbled.
“Then move you lazy man.”
“Can’t you throw a blanket over me or something woman?”
She pinched his ass for the use of the word woman, which made him jump, but managed to toss a blanket over the two of them.
“Honestly, I don’t know why I put up with your demanding laziness, “ she huffed but went back to running her hands up and down his back.
She could feel his smile against her skin, “because you get to boss me around and I do as I’m told?”
She shook her head when he peeked an eye up at her, “you’re just good in bed, for someone who does so little work anywhere else.”
He chuckled and moved up into her and then back down once more, gaining himself a moan.
“I hate you.” Temari sniffed.
“I know,” he murmured already half asleep.
She rolled her eyes, but smiled down at the man she loved. Temari was glad that he was alive and well, if he hadn’t been she wasn’t sure she would have been able to keep moving. She still didn’t know why her brother Gaara was still able to keep moving now that Naruto had been taken from him. Gaara was so strong sometimes, possibly to strong or maybe to well hidden behind all his walls.
Temari sighed and closed her eyes as well, it was best she got some real sleep too. Tomorrow would more than likely prove to be a long, cold, and shitty day. Slowly she drifted away with Shikamaru’s reassuring weight above her.
