Inside on the Outside

Back in Kakashi’s hospital room Anko sat with him on the bed, his arms around her. Iruka had heard the transfusion was a success and had returned to the hospital to see the now awake Kakashi.

“Kakashi! You’re awake!” Iruka proclaimed entering the room.

“Iruka, Anko told me you were my donor.”

“Yeah, I was.” Iruka answered.

“Thank you.” Kakashi was still a little weak but greatful.

“Hey, it was nothing.” Iruka said sitting down across the room.

“The nurse is coming to discharge him in a little while.” Anko said, her arms around him.

“Oh yeah? You hungry? Anko, I know you are. You guys want to go get something to eat after the discharge?” Iruka asked. Anko looked at Kakashi.

“You want to, baby?” It was the first time she had ever called him that…and she liked it.

“Yeah, let’s do that. I’m starving now.” he answered resting his head on Anko’s shoulder.

“Okay, good. Then we’ll go grab something after the release.” Iruka said. It wasn’t much longer that the same nurse appeared.

“Hatake Kakashi. How do you feel?” The nurse asked walking over to him to check his pulse and temperature.

“I’m tired, but I’m okay.” He answered her.

“Good. You accepted the blood well. I have to go over some things with you before we let you go. First, you need to take these pills for the next week. These are only a preventative maintenance so that you don’t have any reactions to the blood. These pills will make you drowsy. For the next week you are not to do anything very physical. You can take walks or do light housework, but nothing that could raise your pulse.

“Nothing?” Kakashi asked.

“Nothing, your pulse needs to stay steady for a while otherwise you could faint.” The nurse said.

“So when you say I can’t do anything physical that raises my pulse…you mean nothing?”

“Right, no running, definitely no training, you can go to work but keep your duties light, avoid lifting and pushing anything.” The nurse restated.

“Uh huh…okay…so then that means…” the nurse cut Kakashi off, Anko knew what he was trying to get at she couldn’t help but laugh.

“There’s something I forgot to tell you about the side effects of your medicine. Not only will you be drowsy, but um…you won’t’ be able to….perform…sexually speaking.” The nurse said the last part quickly and then flipped her chart.

“Wha…wha, wha, wha, what? What? What did you…just say…Wait…you’re telling me…that I won’t be able to…

“That’s right baby, you won’t be able to get it up. That’s what she is trying to tell you…only she’s being more tactful than me.” Anko said caressing his back.

“You have got…to be kidding me. I can take 16 shots of hard liquor and get it up just as strong…you mean a tiny pill is standing between me and what makes me a man?” Kaakshi asked. Anko laughed she thought that was hilarious. The nurse wasn’t certain how to react.

“Right, I was going to tell you that sex was out of your agenda for the next week as well, because it would make your pulse rise too much.” The nurse said. Anko looked at Kakashi who was staring at her with the eyes that were a combination of being pissed as hell and being disappointed.

“I just need your signature here…here….and…here. And can your girlfriend be your witness?” the nurse asked. Kakashi looked at Anko…she was his girlfriend. He had just never heard anyone say that out loud before. “She is my girlfriend…she is.” Kakashi thought to himself.

“Yes, she can.” He answered him.

“Alright, she needs to sign below the places where you have signed.” The nurse said. Kakashi put his signature in all the appropriate places and he passed the clip board on to Anko who signed below him. Anko got off the bed and pulled Kakashi to his feet. She kept her arms around his waist to support him. The nurse handed Kakashi’s pills and some information about the pills to Iruka. Kakashi had his arm around Anko’s shoulders. She slowly led him out of the hospital room with Iruka in the lead.

“Man, you can’t get it up!” Iruka immediately had to torment him about that.

“Oh god…shut up. I was totally looking forward to fucking Anko’s brains out…well that obviously won’t happen.” Kakashi said. Anko laughed.

“Well, I’m just glad that it’s finally aired out that you two are officially a couple…a boyfriend/girlfriend couple. It has been said and there’s no denying it.” Anko blushed like crazy and squeezed Kakashi closer into her. The three of them walked slowly to a nearby restaurant that was around the hospital. Kakashi was still weak and a little light headed so he didn’t want to walk too far. They walked inside and took a seat near the door.

“What do you feel like eating?” Anko asked him, her hand on his thigh.

“Something that doesn’t require any work. I think I’ll have some miso with boiled egg plant.” Kakashi said to her leaning down and kissing her. He didn’t stop at just once…he kissed her three times each time a little deeper. “I love you, thanks for staying with me.” He told her. Anko smiled.

“I love you too.”

“It’s about time you two get that out.” Iruka said. “It’s been more than obvious that you two were in love with each other but neither one of you would cave and actually go through with saying it. They both smiled at Iruka. A waitress came and took their order.

“He would like, miso with boiled eggplant, I’ll have an order of chicken wings, a bowl of rice, BBQ pork with sauce on the side, steamed daikon, a beer bottle not tap and a pot of tea.” Iruka ordered after Anko.

“Are you a little hungry, Anko?” Iruka asked her. Anko laughed.

“Hey, I’m a girl that can eat and I’m proud of it! You should know I eat like a man in front of you.” Anko insisted. Kakashi had grabbed Anko’s hand under the table. He squeezed it tightly. He worked his closeest arm to her around her shoulders.

“Hey, Anko’s moving in with me.” Kakashi told Iruka.

“Oh is she now? When is this happening?” Iruka asked. The waitress brought them water and Anko’s beloved beer (even though she preferred liquor on a normal day).

“October, hey do you wan to buy some of my shit?” Anko asked. Iruka thought a moment.

“Hmmm…maybe your bedroom suite but you have some pretty useless furniture. Gai would probably like it.”

“That’s what we were thinking…oh god….that beer’s so fucking cold…I’d make out with that waitress if I thought she had anything to do with it.” Anko said

“Oh, and we would so watch that.” Iruka said.

“No, you would so watch that, because my pulse would rise too much and then I would faint because I lost too much blood. If she’s going to make out with another woman at least let me be not taking some stupid pills that cripple me into an impotent lover.” Anko and Iruka laughed.

“Here taste how fucking cold it is.” Anko pushed her beer over to Iruka.

“Damn…it is isn’t it?” he gave it back to Anko.

“I would give you some of this…but you’re impotent.” Anko laughed and Kakashi shook his head at her. “Oh, I’m so sorry, but…it’s too funny.” She kissed him and he kissed her back. kaakshi smiled back at her through squinted eyes. The waitress brought them their food. “Oh, thank you.” Anko said to her.

“Hey, my girlfriend said she would make out with you.” Kakashi said to the waitress. The waitress wasn’t really certain what to say, she just blushed.

“No, he just got out of the hospital and I told him I’d do that some other time.” The waitress was officially a little freaked.

“Can I get you another beer?” she asked Anko.

“Yes, I’d love one thanks.” The waitress left them to their meals. It was a wonderful meal among friends. Anko had her world back. She had the man she loved and her dear friend as an added bonus. Anko was happy…it was so unusual for her to be this way…to be happy and content…to be in love…for the first time. She was so happy Kakashi was alright that nothing had taken him away from her.

“God…this tastes so good.” Kakashi said. It was the first meal he had had since his arrival in the hospital. “Thanks for the idea, Iruka.” Kakashi said.

“Oh, it’s no problem I figured you too would appreciate a good meal.” Anko cleaned up everything in her massive order, although she got the tea for everyone. After their meal Kakashi thanked Iruka again for giving him his blood. They went their separate ways and Anko led Kakashi home. He would have to start his pills the next day.

Once they entered Kakashi’s door, relief came over both of them. “You lay down on the couch and I’ll get the bed ready for you.” Anko said. Kakashi kissed her. He coudlnt’ help but let his tongue outline the inside of her mouth. She tasted so good. Kakashi laid down on the couch while Anko went into the bedroom and pulled the comforter down. She then went into the bathroom and picked up towels that were lying all over the floor from the previous week. Anko walked back into the living room but not before taking the towels to the utility room first. She laid down on the couch with Kakashi. He hugged her into his body.

“The bed’s ready for you whenever you get tired.” Anko said brushed her fingers through his spiky hair. Anko leaned in and kissed him deeply, wrapping her arms around his back. What started as only one deep kiss…turned into them making out on their couch. Neither of them would let the other out of their grasp.

“I love you.” Anko whispered in between her heated kisses.
