Chapter Seventeen

Warning Yaoi(boy x boy relationships) don’t read if you don’t like.

AN: Thank you all for the praise of the last chapter and Yay over 10,000 hits. That was one of my goals with this fic so yay. Now some more Itachi today (yum). If I could marry the Itachi I created in this story I could die a happy woman. Gah, I think he is my favorite part of this story. The bulk of this chapter is nothing but filler but some of it is cute. The big thing is at the end. I hope you guys get a kick out of the name of the club they go to and heaven help me I couldn’t resist throwing Kisame in there. =P The song that I heard in my mind while Sasuke and Naruto danced was ‘Take My Breath Away’ by Berlin. A classic and one of my favorites. Well, on with the story. Please enjoy.

What Dreams May Come

Chapter Seventeen

Sasuke felt warm. Warmth soaked into every inch of him, heating his soul as well as his body. He curled deeper into the warm body and whined low in his throat when it was taken from him.

“Go back to sleep, Sasuke.” whispered Naruto.

“Naruto…” whined Sasuke.

Naruto pulled Sasuke into his arms and rubbed calloused hands over the smooth skin of his back. Gradually, the younger man began to drift off to sleep once again.

Careful not to wake his young lover, Naruto eased away from Sasuke and made his way into the small kitchen. Grabbing a note pad from the counter, Naruto scribbled a quick note. Picking up his keys from the coffee table, the blonde quietly exited the apartment and headed for his car.

Sasuke shot up in bed and looked around the room. A quick glance at the digital clock showed that it was after ten. Tossing his legs over the side of the bed, Sasuke winced at the slight discomfort radiating from his ass. Making a mental note to give Naruto a piece of his mind, Sasuke left the bedroom in search of the blonde.

Walking through the apartment, it became obvious that Naruto was no longer there. Scowling, he walked to the kitchen. Sasuke noticed a note on the counter. A pink blush spread across his features, ending at the roots of hair, as he read the hastily scribbled note.

Sasuke,

I needed to go to office to get a few things done. I didn’t wake you because you needed your sleep after last night. I’ll be thinking about your ass and how tight it was all day. Call me later and let me know where to meet you and your brother.

Naruto.

“Idiot.”

A rattling of keys at the front door brought Sasuke back to the present and out of the day dream that had sent a little tendril of heat down south. Walking into the living room, Sasuke was greeted by his brother’s face as he opened the door.

“Good Morning, Sasuke.”

“Itachi.” mumbled Sasuke before walking back to the kitchen.

Itachi lifted a brow at the slight limp in his little brother’s gait. Fighting very hard to keep the grin from spreading across his face, Itachi followed his brother and watched quietly as he set about heating some water for tea.

“Rough night last night?” asked Itachi.

Sasuke never missed a beat; lifting his right hand and extending the middle finger before walking carefully back to his bedroom to dress while the water heated. Itachi couldn’t resist the snicker that escaped his lips at his little brother’s antics.

Sasuke jumped in the shower for a quick wash before returning to the kitchen just in time to see Itachi pouring the heated water into matching mugs. Mumbling thanks, Sasuke sipped at the tea and watched through his bangs as his brother continued to smirk unabashedly at him.

“Stop it.” snarled Sasuke.

“Stop what, little brother?” Itachi sent Sasuke an innocent look that had won over many a jury and judge alike.

“You know what I’m talking about.” growled Sasuke.

“Oh you mean the fact that I am so happy my little brother finally lost his virginity? And by the way he’s limping, had a damn good time doing it.” laughed Itachi.

Sasuke thumped his head to the table and closed his eyes. Itachi’s hand on his shoulder caused him to raise an embarrassed face to his brother.

“Joking aside, Sasuke, are you happy?” Itachi’s face was serious when he asked the question.

Sasuke blinked up at his older brother before a smile teased the corners of his lips. Itachi nodded and pulled Sasuke into a hug. The two stood there for several minutes locked in a brotherly embrace. Sasuke missed the closeness that he shared with his brother. He was glad that he was able to visit this weekend. He was also anxious for Itachi to actually get to sit and talk with Naruto.

“So is he coming tonight?”

“Yes, I’ll call him later and give him the details.”

“Have him meet us at Gabriel’s for dinner and have him dress casual. I want to go to that new club on Kunai Street after dinner.” smirked Itachi.

“Club?” asked Sasuke.

“I’m making up for my lost childhood.”

Sasuke rolled his eyes and left his brother to begin settling into the spare bedroom. Flopping down on the mattress in his bedroom, Sasuke buried his face into the cool sheets and breathed in Naruto’s scent that still lingered on them. The blonde had barely been gone half a day and already Sasuke felt an ache building in his chest.

Annoyed with himself for acting like a love sick school girl, Sasuke leapt to his feet and stripped the bedding. He stuffed the sheets and comforter in the washer before making his way to the living room. Seeing Itachi smirking from the door to his bedroom resulted in Sasuke’s mood plummeting even deeper into annoyance.

“Not a word.” Itachi simply lifted his hands innocently and walked to the couch where he proceeded to watch television, all the while laughing inwardly at his little brother.

‘Still so skittish, Sasuke? You’ll learn.’ Lifting the remote, Itachi absently listened to the News while most of attention was focused on the nervous movements of his brother.

Sasuke nervously set about doing chores that were not necessary. His eyes kept straying to the clock. He wondered when it was alright to call Naruto. Would he be glad to hear from him? Would Naruto get along with his aniki?

“Gah!”

“Everything alright, otouto?” There was an obvious laugh in Itachi’s voice.

“Fine.”

“If you say so.” Itachi was nearly bent over in silent laughter. His little brother was too much.

Deciding to get it out of the way and off his mind, Sasuke picked up the phone and dialed the number to Naruto’s cell. It rang several times before Naruto picked up.

“Hello?”

“Umm…Naruto, it’s Sasuke.”

“I know.” Naruto smiled at the nervous quiver in Sasuke’s voice.

“Itachi is here and we are going to have dinner at Gabriel’s at seven and go to a club that Itachi wants to see.” said Sasuke.

“Alright. I’ll meet you two at Gabriel’s.”

“Alright, goodbye.” murmured Sasuke.

“Oh and Sasuke.”

“Yes?”

“I meant what I said on the note. I have been thinking about your ass all day.” Naruto could just see the blush beginning to stain the cheeks with a pale pick flush.

“Idiot.” Sasuke hung up after that, not waiting for a reply from the blonde.

Naruto leaned back in his chair, cackling with almost a diabolical glee. Sasuke was so fun to pick on.

Turning his eyes back to the Power Point presentation that he was working on for a lecture Iruka-sensei asked him to conduct. Normally, Naruto shied away from public lectures, however, this seemed different. Doing a lecture to discuss the myth or truth of shinobi might be fun. The fact that Iruka-sensei asked made it even harder to refuse.

The hours seemed to pass by in a moment. A quick glance at the clock on the wall told him it was almost five. Saving his progress on the computer, Naruto jumped from his chair and strolled out of his office and towards his car.

The sun was riding low in the sky, a signal that summer was nearly at an end. Even the nights were a bit cooler and the leaves were beginning to turn attractive shades of red and brown. The passing of the seasons had always just been a way of measuring his time on earth. They now signaled a season he would get to spend with the keeper of his heart.

Rushing into the house, Naruto stood once again in front of his closet. His eye developed a twitch as once again he was indecisive about what to wear. This was becoming an unseemly habit. Once upon a time, he wouldn’t have given two shits what people thought about what he wore as was obvious by the fact that he wore what others called a hideous jump suit.

Grabbing a pair of black jeans that hugged him in all the right places and a tight orange t-shirt that he had purchased the other day, Naruto tossed the chosen clothes on the bed and made his way to the shower.

Adjusting the streaming water to a comfortable temperature, Naruto stepped under the spray and immediately felt the muscles, tense from being slumped in front of a computer, loosen and relax. He really did miss the long days spent training in the heat. He missed the adrenalin that pumped through his system when faced with an enemy.

Naruto had never cared for killing. It almost went against his nature but he did what he needed to do to protect his friends and village from danger. It was part of the duty that he signed up for when he accepted the symbol of his village from Iruka-sensei.

The cooling of the water pulled Naruto from his thoughts. It was odd that he was reminiscing. It had been several weeks since thoughts of the past had drawn him into himself. Shaking off the foreboding feeling that seemed to be creeping into him; Naruto brushed his hair and left it to fall in whatever style it wished.

‘Naruto…’

“What the hell have you been doing lately? You have been awfully quiet.” Naruto was a little surprised to hear the deep voice that had been his only companion for many years.

‘I have a bad feeling about tonight.’

“Don’t worry, Kyuubi, I’ll protect you.” he joked, though he couldn’t quite shake the doubt that pushed itself into his mind at the words that mirrored his own thoughts.

‘I’m not joking, Naruto. Go pick up Sasuke and stay in tonight.’ whispered the fox in Naruto’s mind.

“It will be fine.” Naruto comforted but Kyuubi remained silent.

Shaking his head, Naruto pulled on his clothes and left the house. The drive to the small café on the east side of the city was uneventful. Naruto pulled his sports car in the only free spot and made his way into the café.

Gabriel’s was a tasteful café situated in a middle class district. The atmosphere was a mish mash of styles that reflected the change in society over the years. In recent years, the café had become a hang out for starting artists and musicians. The café regularly featured local bands and artists giving many of them their first break in the business.

Spotting the two Uchihas, Naruto weaved through the crowds, stopping only momentarily to place a kiss on an elderly woman’s cheek. The woman startled but grinned when she saw Naruto’s face. They spoke quietly for a few moments before Naruto left and joined the Uchihas.

“Another of your fans?” asked Sasuke.

“Old lover.” teased Naruto.

Itachi arched a brow. Naruto saw the look and laughed.

“She is the owner of this café. It’s named after her late husband that died in the army. She is here every Friday and Saturday night. Only regulars know who she is.”

“I guess that makes you a regular.” Sasuke couldn’t help but laugh to himself. Naruto seemed to have an innate ability to charm people.

Naruto smiled brightly at Sasuke and reached across the table to interlink their fingers. Itachi watched in glee as a tiny blush spread across Sasuke’s cheeks. Oh, the fun he was going to have with his little brother.

The rest of the dinner was pleasant. Itachi spent much of it in conversation with Naruto. He wanted to get to know the lover of his little brother.

“Tell me, Naruto-kun, what about my brother drew you to him?” asked Itachi with a small smirk.

Sasuke scowled at his brother but said nothing as Naruto seemed to consider the question.

“A lot drew me to him, but if I had to pick one thing out of everything, it would be that he made me realize how lost in the past I was.” smiled Naruto with a small squeeze to Sasuke’s hand.

“How were you lost in the past?” Itachi arched a brow.

“My lover died and I was never able to move on.” smiled Naruto sadly.

“I’m sorry.” winced Itachi.

“Don’t be. You can thank your brother for that.”

“Hn.” snorted Sasuke.

“Where is this club that Sasuke was telling me you wanted to try?” asked Naruto.

“On Kunai Street. Supposedly it’s very hot and only the best looking and most elite get in.” smirked Itachi.

Naruto rolled his eyes. Apparently Itachi was a bit of an attention whore, but that seemed off. It was out of character for Itachi.

“You doubt my reasons for choosing this club?” Itachi was staring intensely at Naruto.

“I’m not sure.” answered Naruto, honestly.

Itachi smirked; Naruto was a very perceptive person. There was a reason he chose the club. First off, he knew that he and his brother would have no trouble getting in and now that he had seen Naruto he was certain that he would have no trouble as well. Second, there was nothing Itachi liked more than watching the antics of people that thought themselves better than others. The pleasure he got from turning down men and women, high on their own narcissistic tendencies, gave him great pleasure.

It had been awhile since he’d had a lover. It wasn’t that he wasn’t willing, but more that the only individuals that approached him only did so because of his appearance. He knew he was extremely attractive and that coupled with his obscene amount of money made him a very attractive catch. That annoyed him beyond belief.

“Are you ready to go?” Itachi stood and dropped a few bills on the table to cover the check.

Both Naruto and Sasuke stood and followed Itachi out of the café. Sasuke opted to ride with Naruto for the short trip to the club. Once there, Sasuke rubbed the bridge of his nose. The Crimson Cloud was just as flamboyant and loud as he had expected.

“Come on.” grinned Naruto, slyly.

The three approached the door and were immediately ushered past the bouncer. They obviously met the necessary physical standards of the club. Entering the club, they found it to be surprisingly tasteful in décor despite the garishly flamboyant exterior.

Itachi made his way to an unoccupied booth while Naruto and Sasuke went for the dance floor. Watching the two was like watching an intricate drama being played out before his eyes. The obvious sexual tension between the two bled into the dance. The electricity that the two created drew the attention of more than one dancer that stopped to watch enthralled as the two continued, lost in a world that only contained the two of them.

“Cute couple.” yelled a voice over the pulsing beat of the music.

Itachi turned his attention from Naruto and Sasuke to the deep voice. Lifting his gaze, he was nearly awestruck by the man beside him. Unlike most of the other patrons, this man wasn’t what one would call attractive. His hair was dyed a bright blue that should have seemed ridiculous but on him it seemed to work. His face was plain but had a large amount of character that made him intriguing.

“My brother and his lover.” Itachi was more than curious about this strange man that had suddenly approached him.

“Name’s Kisame.”

“Uchiha Itachi.”

“Before you ask, I own the place.” Kisame’s grin reminded him of a shark and Itachi was completely flabbergasted that the man had read him so easily.

“What makes you think I was going to ask anything?”

“Heh, you obviously aren’t here for the babes and you don’t seem the type to flaunt your good looks. I figured you are here to watch other people make ridiculous fools of themselves.” Kisame grinned at the look on the pale man’s face.

Was he that easy to read? First Naruto at dinner and then this stranger, it really was disconcerting to be read so easily. He would really have to work on his emotions before his next court date if even a stranger could read him like a book.

The blue haired man plopped down on the seat next to Itachi and grinned before signaling a waitress.

“Do you mind? “ Itachi was more than a little annoyed at this point.

“Not very well, no.” chuckled Kisame.

A waitress approached. Taking both their orders, the waitress walked away leaving the two of them alone.

“Are you always this annoying?”

“Pretty much.” Kisame was really enjoying himself. Thinking that it would be another boring night, the minute Itachi had strolled in accompanied by a younger version of himself and a blonde, Kisame had been entranced.

The music changed to a slow love song and Itachi saw Naruto pull his brother into a tight embrace, swaying to the music. Every shift in their muscles seemed to be in sync with the other. Naruto buried his face in Sasuke’s neck and breathed in the clean scent. It was refreshing compared to the overwhelming smell of smoke, alcohol, and sweat that permeated the club.

“They fit well.”

“Yes they do.” Itachi couldn’t agree more with the comment.

“Another drink?”

Itachi looked at his empty glass and nodded. He had been so enraptured by Naruto and his brother that he hadn’t even noticed that he had finished his drink. This Kisame was nice company. It was rare to meet someone that interested him for more than a few minutes.

Sasuke sighed in Naruto’s arms. This was nice. He could stay like this forever, wrapped in Naruto’s arms with his scent clinging and intermingling with his own.

“Sasuke…come home with me.”

“Alright.” Sasuke was more than happy to leave with the blonde.

Walking towards where Itachi seemed to be engrossed in a conversation with a very strange looking man, Sasuke tapped his brother on the shoulder. Naruto nearly tripped over his feet when he saw the features of Kisame. No way!

Once the initial shock wore off, a twinge of anger flooded Naruto’s veins at the slightly more humanized version of Kisame. Tamping down the feeling, Naruto plastered a grin on his face but kept his eyes glued to the features of the man that had cut down his lover all those years ago. ‘He’s not the same person’ was chanted in Naruto’s mind. It was going be a long time before Naruto could safely be in Kisame’s company without thoughts of homicide flickering through his thoughts.

“Aniki, we’re leaving.”

Itachi nodded to his brother and looked directly at Naruto. “Drive carefully.”

Naruto grinned and pulled Sasuke out of the club and towards his car. Leaning over to kiss Sasuke, Naruto smiled when Sasuke met him halfway. It was hard to believe that a few short weeks ago, he was existing in a living hell and now he was living in something akin to heaven.

Pressing Sasuke into the hood of the car, Naruto devoured his lips like a man dying of thirst in a dry desert. He couldn’t seem to get enough of him. Sasuke seemed to be feeling the same as he arched up into the kiss and asserted his own dominance over the kiss.

“Get a room!” Laughing, Naruto broke the kiss and pulled back, drawing Sasuke from the hood. The two separated and slid into the car.

Sighing happily, Naruto started the car and began the drive home, thinking of everything he would do to Sasuke once he had him in his bed. Naruto turned his eyes to his lover. What happened next seemed to be in slow motion. He watched as Sasuke paled and turned to look at Naruto.

“Naruto!” screamed Sasuke.

Naruto turned his eyes back to the road in time to see a swerving car enter his lane and plow directly into the little sports car. Control was completely lost. Naruto felt a jarring pain radiate through his entire body as the backlash of the impact sent the little car into a tailspin.

Naruto seemed to black out for a few moments. He opened his eyes to feel his body knitting itself back together. It was excruciatingly painful but a sign that he would survive. Panting, Naruto struggled to keep conscious. His first thought was of Sasuke. Turning his head slowly, Naruto felt the bottom drop out from under him.

Sasuke’s face was turned towards him. Few superficial scratches covered his face but it was the trickle of blood from his lips and the shallow, irregular breathing that scared Naruto the most.

“Sasuke!” cried Naruto, unable to move from where he was pinned.

Sasuke was unresponsive, not an inch of him responded to the cry. Naruto felt the panic set in and struggled to move himself to his lover. His body didn’t want to obey his commands and pain burst through his system from attempting to move.

“Please Sasuke, answer me.” Naruto felt the darkness creeping into his vision and try as he might, he couldn’t fight it off. Tears dribbled down his cheeks to splash unnoticed on the mangled interior of the car. The pain in his healing body was too much and Naruto lost the battle with his consciousness. Freeing a hand, he linked his fingers into the limp ones of his lover and knew no more.
