The Unexpected
Two days later it was time to head back towards town. Lee had his desired fight with Neji of which Neji won easily. Lee was disappointed but he still loved fighting with Neji. Neji and Ten Ten had successfully hidden from Gai Sensei all three days with out even the slightest bit of suspicion having been raised. It took nearly the entire day to return to the gates of Konoha. Neji and Ten Ten were going to say goodbye to Lee and Gai Sensei, but no one was going anywhere without a speech…
“Neji! Ten Ten! Lee! The three of you were spectacular during your training this weekend! Our time together is truly the springtime of our youths! Watching my dear students grow into elite ninjas!” Gai continued to ramble on while Neji and Ten Ten glanced at each other rolling their eyes. Lee was ready to tear up hearing Gai give his speech. Finally, Gai was done and he bid his students farewell. Neji and Ten Ten said goodbye to Lee and Lee left.
“Well, I guess I’m going home to my mom. She’ll be back from her sister’s house by now.” Ten Ten’s eyes were filled with sadness.
“I’ll see you tomorrow or something, baby.” Neji reassured her taking her in his arms. He didn’t want her to leave him and go home as much as she didn’t want to leave. Nonetheless, Neji kissed her and they went their separate ways. Ten Ten arrived home first.
“Ten Ten! Hi baby! How was your training? I got your message.” Ten Ten hugged her mother spite the fact that she smelled like nature.
“Hi mom. It was a good training mission. Did you have a nice trip?” Ten Ten sat down on the couch and talked to her mother about her trip.
Neji arrived home shortly after Ten Ten. He entered his door slowly, reluctantly.
“I’m home!” Neji called to whoever would answer. Hiashi was the first into the living room.
“Neji! You’re back. Come sit down, tell me about the training.” Hiashi went to the refrigerator for the sake. Neji and his uncle sat and talked for a long time. Neji was greeted by his aunt and Hinata and Hanabi.
That night both Neji and Ten Ten were restless. She thought about him and he thought about her. Now with her mother home, she didn’t have the house to herself and now Neji’s family was back for a while. They would be able to spend time together during the day; which was wonderful because they wanted each other’s company. However, they both had to be extra careful because Ten Ten’s mother didn’t know she had a boyfriend…she didn’t know other things as well. Hiding this from her mother would not last forever.
The next was supposed to be typical, Ten Ten would meet Neji in the sparring field and they would fight the morning away, then they would go have lunch. However, today wasn’t typical. On her way to the sparring field, Ten Ten found Neji sitting on a bench. He knew Ten Ten would pass through and find him there. Neji looked depressed, he looked highly upset.
“Neji. Neji, what? Why are you here?” He looked up at Ten Ten with painful white eyes. “What’s wrong Neji?” Ten Ten sat on the bench beside him and put her arms around his shoulders. She didn’t care who saw her, she didn’t care if her mother walked by at this very moment. Neji didn’t say anything for a moment, then he looked at her.
“She’s sending me away.” He said softly. Ten Ten felt like she was just hit by a truck.
“What? Who? Hokge?” Ten Ten asked.
“Yes, Hokage ordered me to her office this morning. She’s sending me on a mission for one month.” Neji bit his lower lip. Neji hadn’t ried since he was a little boy. But for the first time in his life he had found some peace, some relief. He had gotten the girl he had been after for years. Ten Ten was speechless.
“Neji.” She finally said. She didn’t say anything else she just held him and felt him squeeze her back. “How long do you have Neji? Before you go I mean?” Ten Ten told herself that no matter what she couldn’t cry, she absolutely couldn’t let herself cry.
“I’m supposed to be ready to leave in two hours.” Neji’s voice was a choked whisper over her shoulder. Ten Ten looked at him.
“I don’t want you to go. Why you, why did she pick you?” Ten Ten begged.
“I don’t know baby. I think she knew I was happy and she wanted to see if she could screw it up.” Neji was bitter Ten Ten squeezed him and fought back her tears.
“Well, let’s not waste what time we have left.” Ten Ten said softly. She and Neji stood up and walked off. They were determined to have the sweetest gentlest sex they had ever had before he left. It didn’t matter where they had to go, and it didn’t matter who saw them; they needed to be together one last time before Hokage took him away form her.
Ten Ten was lying in the grass looking up at Neji, they had just experienced quite possibly the best yet saddest sex they had ever had to this point together. Ten Ten got dressed as did Neji and she walked with him to get his packed bags. It was now time for him to go. His team consisted of Kiba and Shikamaru. Ten Ten walked with him to the gates of Konoha once more; where they had just returned the day before. She hugged him tight.
“Neji…come back…please come back…I can’t live without you.” Ten Ten whispered.
